Shipments and technologys that come to late/give to little?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 05:15 PM PDT

So i had a little talk about this and i has come to my mind which ones are in this list? Which shipments or technologys come to late/give to little There are some things that can be send/reserached realy early, but are ether to/very expensive, need some other thing like docks, castles or whatever building to give full effect The ones i think that deserve to be on this list

-"Clan offer" (Japanese isolation Age 2, costs 500 export) every castle spawns a samurai, a castle costs 250 wood and 100 gold so not realy a possibility in early game since you wont have 1750 resources just to build enouth castles to get full effect, but thw high prize of 500 export doesn't realy allow to say "yeah i havw 2 castles, so i'll get it now" you can get for only 400 the first army of any ally or ~8 Konsha Yamabusi

-Way to make it more apealling: make it cheaper, like ~200 export will make it more apealling on the early game of you have like 2-3 castles, or make it that it gives 2 samurai per castle

-"Estates" (british shipment age 4) houses can slowly create villagers, but TCs will take double the time for creation aswell, one on side, british is quit a easy civ when it comes to booming, and on the other side if you hit age 4 factorys, second fort, or any kind of military related shipment will be more important in almost every match

-Way to make it more apealing: lower it to age 2-3, if its correctly balanced,( i haven't tried the card by myself right now since im still in the process of leveling by british, so im sorry if i have overlocked something)

-"White fleet of the portuguese" (age 4) You need to build alot of docks so you get most efficency out of that card in theroy, and then you also need alot of pop space for these boats, just like the "Estades" in age 4 you have alot of cards as portuguese that might have higher priority, like facotrys, second forty extra range dragoons/mortars

-how to make it more apealing: make it age 2-3 with a respectivly lower amount of boats, so it is similair to the chinese villager shipments, but instead of TCs and villages you need docks, and instead of villagers you get fishing boats,

-"Great migration" (chinese age 4) ships a villager and a feed up goat to every TC/village, its simply to late, I would probably argue that the "Towncencter+5 villager" shipment might be better since additional TC allows faster villager production, and that will quickly catch up to the ~5 advantage that the "Great migration" will most likely give you

-Way to make it more apealing, probably give 2 villagers for every village and 2 feed goats for every Town center, this will give overall most of the time a bit more villagers, and some goats that can be instantly eaten might be usefull aswell (I don't think this card is totally bad, but i feel like its just lacks a bit too hard to espcape this list, even tho this card might be the best of all here mentioned ones)

-"TEAM 2 Mortars" (alot of european nations) as mutch as i wanted to love this card in teamgames, this cards i bad in my opinion and experience, it could be nice so a native ally as an example can get some heavy artillery on the field for taking down buildings, but 2 mortars simply can't realy cut it, they arn't like team Shapi, Urumi, Mandshu or any of the "Team indian warrior" shipments, they aswell have the problem of being age 4 where every nation has strong shipments with higher priority (factorys, second fort, unique shipments), than this one

-Way to make it more apealing: probably gove more mortars/make them at least howitzers, so covs who lack units like this have more useability with them

-Some big buttons (native civs) as and example the iroquois have resource crate big buttons, those are in my opinion pretty bad, the aztec ones are abit nicer, since getting a little big extra of a unit type can always be helpfull ether to defend your base if you get slowly overwhelmed or to get a littoe bit extra power on the battlefield to finish your enemy

So which ones have i forgoten in your opinion? Let me know And if you think i made a misstake in thinking somewhere tell me aswell

What are your AOE gameplay traditions?

    Posted: 24 May 2020 02:29 PM PDT

    Hi all,

First time poster in this thread (and fairly new to reddit). Just wanted to say from observing from afar that I think this is one of the most kind and welcoming subreddits I've seen, so thank you for that.

That said, I'm curious about what you guys do while playing. Music? Drinks? Snacks? Complete focus on game with no distractions?

I have the occasional beer while playing which I enjoy. I used to play music on Spotify from my phone but have recently really enjoyed the AOE background music more than I realized (maybe this quarantine is really getting to me).

Curious as to what everyone else does out there.
