    Hey reddit,

    I was thinking about finding one unique build for each of the civilizations in the game. They should lean heavily into a civ's bonuses and stronger units and be only feasible with a certain civ. They do not have to be incredibly crazy, just a slight improvement on a stale meta build is fine.

    A civ can also have 2-3 unique builds, so don't be afraid to suggest something for a civ already listed here.

    Let's get the easy ones out of the way:

    Here's the ones I am working on:

    And here's some general ideas:

    • Celts: drush FC into ls+ram
    • Incas: eagles, slingers, towers

    Any FC into UU build is also fine as long as it's specifically teched for the uu's res and upgrade requirements.

    Now hit me with your suggestions, builds and thoughts!

    I've started playing aoe2 with my husband....what simple tips can you give me so I can impress him?

    During lockdown, my husband's friends invited us to play AOE2 with them online. My husband used to play when he was younger but can't remember much of it. I've never played before. Our internet can't handle us both playing, so we work together where he's clicking and I'm basically copilot.

    We've watched a few build order tutorials, and feel pretty good about getting to the castle age. Then it usually goes to pot a bit. We seem to be bad at defence and building armies at the rate of our friends. We also don't know what is strong/weak vs. what. We're slowly figuring it out by trial and error but I was wondering if anyone could give some quick tips to help us improve quickly. Also, is there a cheat sheet for what military is strong/weak vs what? because that would be super helpful!

    Is the Militia Line worth it on Teutons? (DE)

    I'm just a Beginner and I want to focus on Teutons first. It looks like the Militia Line isn't worth it on Teutons but since I know that I'm just a Beginner I won't just trust my Judgement. Since I couldn't find any Discussion about it since the recent Buff, I'm inclined to start this Discussion. I'll try not to participate since like I already said multiple Times I'm just a Beginner.

    So... I've been working on my own version of 'drush', where I send a vil to the opponent straight up in the game, and accompany my scout with him after initial home scouting. -> pallisading the opponent's gold and building a barracks near his gold. Been practicing against AI (hard), but the following happens:

    1. The AI does fight my forward builder if spotted (with vil/scout). This is good and a realistic defense. However... If I manage to build the pallisade around the gold (when I don't get spotted), he will not take the pallisade down, or even try to. Even after spotting the pallisade.

    2. The AI will proceed to 'send a few vils to gold', but the gold is walled, resulting in those miners stand against the pallisade (..from the outside obviously), in a semi-idle stance.

    3. It will try to go to his other gold, but I always wall both his gold, and build a barracks on his third scattered gold. So the ending is the same: bugged vils.

    4. He will of course go Feudal and try to build a market to get gold and go Castle. Defense wise, he mostly builds an archery range. OK.

    5. He will die because I can spam militia (later m@a) and his economy is already bad because of the bugged vils..

    6. The strat works, but it ain't satisfying this way.

    Patrol Problems

    Hi all,

    Recently I have had an issue with my melee units when patrol-attacking.

    I have a group of them and I patrol them into archers. They all initially advance to engage as the archers try to run away/micro. Then half of my units (the half furthest away from the archers) turn around and run the other way while the remaining half of my army continues to try to engage.

    Needless to say it did not end well for me.

    Is this a bug or something I am doing wrong? I typically set my units to defensive stance if that makes a difference.

    Walling is Hard

    Pros seem to place a couple of houses and a few sections of palisade in select places and done.

    I always seem to be trying to wall a huge line across the map to wall off... Frustrating!!

    About Units Stacking

    Today AoE:DE got an update which had this change:

    "Military units will no longer lose their collision boxes or stack/merge together when grouped closely or forced into a tight space."

    Do you think it's coming to AoE2:DE too? What would be the implications, would it nerf ranged units too much?

    Difficulty Level of Custom AIs

    I recently downloaded 'Ai pack' Mod (https://www.voobly.com/gamemods/mod/859/Ai-pack) on Voobly because the Conquerors AI is very weak even at hardest. There are many AIs to choose from but I wanted to know the level of each AIs difficulty on Hardest or Moderate. Like, I have seen gameplay of Barbarian AI and it's around 1400 Voobly Player. So, how would you rank all or some of the given AIs -

    Would age of empires run on my pc

    Hey there, I'm thinking of purchasing the definitive edition of the aoe2 , but my pc has a Intel HD 430 graphics card and a 4gb ram , so I'm worried about whether it would run on my pc .
