How to quickly delete allied buildings Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:11 AM PDT So, I just had the worst 4v4 Arabia. Situation was post imp with Chinese. Had the perfect unit comp (chuks+heavy camel + siege ram) with over 50 trade carts. My pocket was doing nothing except stonewalling his base and getting fortified wall. It was no problem tho, because I already took out one pocket player and was pushing my flank. However, my pockets fortified wall cut right through the tradeline and my trade went all the way around through the front lines. I lost over 40 trade carts to FRIGGIN skirmishers. I pinged, I asked nicely, I raged and I despaired but my pocket would not react to my biddings to delete a single wall tile. In the end i had to research onager to tear through his walls (both sides) with attack ground. Which, obviously, took forever And we lost. My question now (also TLDR): is there any possibility to tear down allied buildings faster than onagers? Would trebs work? Could u just get some Petards and delete them next to the wall? Bad habits: Appending soldiers into a villager control group Posted: 03 Aug 2020 07:34 AM PDT I recently started putting my villagers into control groups as I've seen many pros do such as putting villagers under the TC into control group 2 and the villager luring the boar into control group 3. However I have a bad habit where I tend to append rather than create a control group. This is because shift is much easier for me to press than ctrl. Because of this I often end up appending militia or archers into my village control group and dragging them away from their work across the map. As a result of this I've gone back to not using control groups for my villagers. Has anyone encountered this? I know it sounds easy to fix but muscle memory is very hard to change. Learning the hotkeys... what should I learn now? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:43 AM PDT So I learned all the most common hotkeys for eco (build villagers, farms, houses, etc) now I lack hotkeys for the military. What should I learn first? Should I learn the hotkeys to build the military buildings, or is better to learn the hotkeys to select these building first? I think is not a silly question because learning to build fast may help to be ready faster, but actually learning to select these building fast may help to have a steady production queue over the time. And since upgrading my computer is (right now) impossible, I was wondering if buying the HD Edition would be worth it? Solution to 8-minute walling meta: more wolves! Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:31 PM PDT Title is pretty self-explanatory. Everyone, myself included, has been complaining about the meta being too defensive and players just full walling their bases within the first 5 minutes and skipping through the feudal age entirely seemingly without suffering any consequences. This has been especially infuriating for the scout meta, which is now pretty much useless when your opponent is full walled. I've seen numerous proposed solutions to address this issue, like making palisade walls more expensive or slower to build to increase the negative effect walling has on a player's economy, the devs opting for more aggressive and open maps in the map pools, giving palisades less hp and nerfing quick-walling so that melee units can break through the walls quicker. I now have a more nature-themed solution to either delay, de-incentivize, or flat-out prevent players from walling so early and so often: wolves. Maps being scripted to have wolves/bears/crocodiles/jaguars/etc... spawn more frequently, especially around forests and ponds, has the following three (in my humble opinion positive) effects:
