    I am splitt between Saracens, Teutons and Berbers.

    Saracens lack the Halberdier, Teutons lack the Hussar and Berbers lack Siege Onagers and Halbediers but they have a unique unit that costs no gold AND they provide it to their allies.

    How much practicing did you do before jumping in multiplayer?

    I'm trying to get into AoE 2, but haven't been progressing as I had hoped. I chose a build order to start off with, Fast castle + Knights, and am improving slowly but can't seem to get very simple things down.

    Sometimes I don't find the sheep shortly after the game starts so I quit and start a new match. Sometimes the boar kills my villager so I quit and start over. Sometimes I forget to move a sheep to the villagers and they end up standing around for 5-10 seconds, so I quit and start over.

    But ALWAYS without fail, due to how bad I am right now, I fail to reach the ideal tech up time and I have to restart.

    How long did you guys grind a build order before you started? You know I probably haven't even made 100 units yet despite playing the game for maybe near 15ish hours now. Cause I keep restarting before Feudal. I just can't get that flawless transition I want to perfect.

    How long did you guys grind AI and BOs until you jumped in the lobby? I can't wait to enjoy the game when I finally finish the beginner grind.

    Would a "smaller building" civ bonus be good?

    Would either of these be good

    • TCs are 3x3

    This might mess up muscle memory for farm placement, but it could mean that TCs can be placed in places where they couldn't be otherwise (hill tops etc.)

    • Markets and Siege Workshops are 3x3

    Smaller markets would make trading easier; smaller siege would make massing siege easier.

    Will the new DE civs be available in the original game too?

    Is there any plan to update the original 2013 version with the new civs and campaign? Or are they just going to leave this and work only on the DE now? Personally, I think the graphics are nostalgic and I love them, graphic packs on steam are all I'll need, the whole DE thing seems rather pointless to me. Just give new DLCs instead...

    Rise to Glory, a 3v3 tournament, has started

    I believe not everyone has seen it, so I think it may catch the attention of a few people and I am personally hyped for it, because it is a pure 3v3 tourney with all the top teams such as Secret, aM, Suomi etc. Every second day VooblyOfficial and MundoAoE will cast two series of the tournament. They have started yesterday and tomorrow there is going to be matches with Heresy and Suomi for example. VooblyOfficial will cast it with their own casters, but apparently they also have guests, such as DemEyesRed.

    This is the entire streaming schedule for the first week (October 14-20)

    reduce enemy LOS unique tech?

    What do you think about a unique tech that reduces all enemy land military unit's LOS by x%? This wouldn't apply to buildings or towers or villagers. The reduced LOS for each military unit would be based on its current LOS. Not sure the percentage to make it fair yet worth getting.

    Questions from someone looking to get back into AoE2

    It's been a solid 15 or 20 years since I last played. But I'm looking to get back into it. I'm buying a new computer and everything.

    I'm curious if I should go now and buy AoE2 on steam and just get started, or if at this point I should be waiting for DE to release next month? Will most players be transitioning over to DE once it's out? I'd hate to get started only to then have to switch over too. Or will the games be running on the same severs for a kind of cross-play between players of both games? Can't say I'm too sure how it all works.

    What would everyone recommend a newbie to do right now to get started again? Thanks, everyone.
