| Struggling to beat hardest AI as Japan Posted: 16 Oct 2019 09:44 AM PDT I've been curb stomped by the Chinese repeatedly and I'm not sure how to do this better. They advance at 3:23 and send attacks my way before 5ish. I have no idea how to counter this, I'm nowhere close to advancing even with all my shrine shenanigans and constant villager production How do Japan? What should be my goal colonial time on water maps and land maps? How do I not get obliterated by rushes? Thanks in advance Edit: I just beat the chinese as japan but it wasn't easy for me. I put up a lot of shrines (cheap because of portugal & heavenly kami) to get more resources and to distract the AI but my main shift in strategy was a castle in the first age. The castle helped to repel the first wave of pitiful attackers but it was still a hard fought defence as they sent more and better units. The reason I won was my heavy investment in the sea. I don't think I could have won without naval dominance (i.e. monitors for days) [link] [comments] |
