- Would smaller trade carts (less bumping) be good? It wouldn't be nearly as good as Spanish trade.

- Made meself a meme
- Idea: Aoe2 game with units/buldings made from predefined 3D parts that the player can easily stick together and animate in an editor the way he like to create unique assets. These are rendered to low-res 2D sprites when a new game starts. So each player starts with his custom set of units/buildings

Been playing for about a month and I still can't beat my friend Posted: 18 Oct 2019 08:32 PM PDT When I first started playing AOE 2 with a friend (about a month ago), I thought, "If I could just learn to farm/mine like him, maybe I could beat him!". Check out our latest 1v1. I was the first to amass an army and my econmy beat his, but no matter what I do, he always wins in the long run. What are some mistakes I made? What should I try differently? Here's the replay: https://drive.google.com/file/d/144teL2SPvj7ugUDyvTkH86mLE0z7etNt/view?usp=sharing Here's a video of a previous game (sped up): [link] [comments]
Custom civilization builder like in Empire Earth Posted: 18 Oct 2019 01:05 AM PDT What do you think about something like this featured in AOE? All different possible bonuses are shown in one big bonus list and you have some available points to spare on them. Similar bonuses rise in points cost so that you dont make too OP civs. It could be optional and not competitive although it will make the game super strategy orientated. And there are more interesting bonuses already presented in AOE compared to EE so the amount of different possibilities is just endless! [link] [comments]

An Opinion About Shadows in the AoE2 Definitive Edition Posted: 18 Oct 2019 01:12 PM PDT Hi everyone. I'd like to keep it short. I think the shadows of the units contrasts are too low and the shadows are too diffused, making the units look too floaty. It might work from the standpoint of a 3D RTS game which it practically will be but the sharp cast shadow with high contrast to me has been one of the key elements of the visual identity of the Age of Empires 2, both in the original version and the HD. I think a chance should be given to that option especially at the late stage the development seems to be at. Thank you for reading and I would love to see your opinions. I hope I haven't been the only person to notice the difference between the two versions. [link] [comments]

AoE2 Tournaments in 2020 and beyond Posted: 18 Oct 2019 12:36 PM PDT With the upcoming release of AoE2 DE in November and the potential for growth in our community that comes with it, I would like to gather feedback from the community on how to make tournaments/events 'better'. I would like for this to be an open discussion, but at the same time, I would like to try to keep things organised, which is why there is a thread for the 3 main pillars of the community. This is to keep feedback channels consistent. The Discussion thread is intended to be a localised point for any topics raised in the other threads to be talked about. Having a farm buff tech in future balance in Definitive Edition Posted: 18 Oct 2019 09:01 AM PDT It's already known that Slavs are very strong with their 15% farming boost. I was saying in order to catch up with Slavs I think other civilization can get a new farming tech to boost their food eco in Feudal Age from Mill and Slavs meanwhile having this tech for free(by free I mean have 15% boost already and not having this tech as civ balance) and having this tech from Dark Age. Other titles of the series like Age Of Mythology already offers sorta extra farming boost tech. It makes their food eco a lot stronger. This tech boost can be nice. What you guys think? What maps are in Full random that aren't in Blind random? Posted: 18 Oct 2019 03:12 PM PDT Just wondering, as I noticed black forest isn't in Blind Random - I looked far and wide and can't find the answer anywhere. Is there a list of the full mix for both somewhere? Are the frequencies equal? I certainly feel like I play some more than others, but could just be bias. Would be really nice to know. Thank you! Posted: 18 Oct 2019 02:38 PM PDT Hi! So whenever I play SP maps (usually 2v2), and there's water, I'll usually build castles in strategic locations to gain control of the water. Now, I understand that a human (unlike a stupid AI) is unlikely to throw fireships and galleys at a castle, but it seems like that's a strategy that could be used to gain control of a certain area (because no one's gonna sail their ships into range). But I almost never see this when the pros play. Why is that? Is it because it's always more advantageous to build an inland castle, and instead try to maintain control of the area of water a castle would be protecting by building docks and ships. And if so, why? And if there's another reason, what's the rationale? Thanks! [link] [comments]

Camels always seemed like a generally bad unit Posted: 17 Oct 2019 06:46 PM PDT No pierce armor, so they get hit pretty hard by cav-archers, especially with hit and run tactics. They *barely* win against knights. They are cost effective against knights per their cost, but then what are they good for? They can clean up scouts quickly, but so can all melee. Terrible against foot units for their cost. Camels have the attributes of a trash unit, but have the same cost ratios of a knight, just a tad cheaper. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Oct 2019 01:01 PM PDT Are there any ways to set an autosave for AoE II HD? If not built in to the game, is there a mod for it? I haven't been able to find one with googling? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Oct 2019 07:04 PM PDT I can't remember but I think it's like 22 or 23 pop -> feudal, eco bonuses, 8 more villagers -> castle age or something like that. [link] [comments]
Any place to find New info for aoe 2 DE Posted: 17 Oct 2019 09:53 AM PDT does anyone know a site or place I can go to look at what they are adding, fixing to DE. I'd like to know if they plan to Fix the issue with to many units on the map making the game drift and lag and other issues i've had with HD. [link] [comments] |
