Posted: 08 Dec 2019 04:48 AM PST For reference, excluding new civs but c'mon we all know they don't need extra help anyways. I have a couple ideas and I wanna clarify they're merely ideas. The exact amounts could be tweeked, but tweeks to the things named - I feel - would be a step in the right direction. If I list multiple ideas for a civ, it doesn't necessarily mean ALL of them should be implemented together. Vietnamese: -Crank the archer HP bonus up to 33%. The problem with the current bonus is 20% of 0 is 0. Archers simply have too little HP for 20% to be meaningful. We're talking about Arbalests having 48 HP instead of 40, but this is hardly meaningful when facing a Paladin that deals 14 damage minimum. Cranking the bonus up to 33% means Rattan Archers and Arbalests get 60 HP, Skirmishers get about 46-47, and cav archers get 80. For Feudal, their archers would have 40 HP instead of 30. Given that the Vietnamese have no eco bonus, I see no risk about being bold with this upgrade since best case scenario, they'd have a great late game but still have issues reaching it. -Give their ability to see enemy TCs a mild spies effect. Either make the direct borders of the TC visible at all times or make the base, unupgraded line of sight of the TC subject to the Spy effect. Hell, even letting the Spy effect upgrade with the LoS upgrades might not be broken, as you'd essentially only see farms, the villagers working them (could at least know which vil is weak before a raid) and players would learn to build military buildings out of the TC's line of sight when facing the Vietnamese. This makes their starting scouting capacity much nicer. The current bonus becomes meaningless because experienced players develop a sense for where to expect the TCs anyways. -Alternatively, Vietnamese instantly know when and where a new TC is built, receiving a similar effect to the current one at the start of the game. This lets them know immediately how many TCs the enemy has built in Castle. -Paper money should recognize 1v1 games and when the Vietnamese have no teammates, in which case, it awards 1000 gold instead of 500. Khmer -I feel these guys simply need an eco bonus of some kind. I'd compare them to the Teutons: the Teutons are a defensive civ that perform better in the later ages rather than the earlier ones. The Teutons do not get a bonus that's immediately exploitable in Dark Age (or isn't ideal to do so) because if they did, they'd have no struggle getting to their golden age and we'd see a significant spike in their power. The Khmer are in a similar boat where their endgame snowball potential is fantastic, but they have absolutely zero eco bonuses and this kills them. The Khmer should receive some form of eco bonus in Feudal or castle to help support them along the way and slowly diminish their struggle as time goes on. Currently, their only eco bonus (no building requirements) is poor in the sense that typically if the Khmer advance too quickly, they're announcing they built zero military buildings and the opponent knows to push. Perhaps a nice alternative is that the Khmer can build one military building free of charge per age? This means they get a Barracks for free in Dark Age and an additional military building in Feudal, plus a free Siege Workshop for Castle. It would make drushing a viable option for them while still awarding a portion of their current bonus, just without the risk of announcing to your enemy "I cannot defend myself, please come attack me." Really, the riskiest part of this is it perhaps offers a drush too cheap, but this could surely be adjusted, perhaps by simply making military buildings cheaper by X%, with the % increasing each age. Or perhaps the free military building in Dark Age can only be built once two other Dark Age buildings have already been constructed. Point is, it seems like a superior alternative to their current bonus that could absolutely be tweeked to both be fair and give them a boost. [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 06:01 AM PST Hello! So, this might be a stupid post, but since I haven't seen this anywhere else, I thought I'd post it. Anyhow, while playing today, I noticed that if you task your villagers to gather the next sheep via shift click and have a sheep in the selected group, the sheep will position itself right on top of the dead sheep, so that the villagers don't have to walk a single step to gather from the next sheep. Now, that's only a very little thing, but it's all about the little things in the dark age, right? [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:41 AM PST I'm pretty new to the game and have been playing it for like a week. I can beat the AI and want to jump into ranked. My question is whether or not I should only play only one civ, or if that even matters. Right now I've been playing ones that look interesting but haven't played the whole roster. So far, I like the Magyar and Ethiopians and hate the Meso civs. So, should I just stick with one civ and learn everything about them? Should I only play certain types of civs (Cavalry, Infantry, Archer)? Or just slowly learn all the civs? [link] [comments]
