Can you stop the censorship? You can't even type wtf ingame, this is ridiculous!

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 01:26 AM PST

    Get a grip devs.

Why should we be censored for the benefit of streamers just because of a few bad eggs in the community.

The majority of us are nice people, and the majority of us are of the OLDER generation.

Feel like I am being treated like a child, I didn't pay for this.

Onager is censored as O*****. This is ridicious and I hope the censor is removed or toggled off next update.

There is nothing that can be seen as a slur from "Nager", this is just made-up profanity that instigates hatred. They turned an innocent word into a supposed slur just by censoring something that may sound or look similar to another slur. I'm really disappointed in these past couple of updates.

Bought the DE yesterday. This game just looks beatiful!

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 07:24 AM PST

This doesn't happen a lot that I create a separate post just to praise a single feature of the game.
    But holy cow!

I was thinking about buying AoE2:DE for some time (and the W3:R debacle helped with that decision). The screenshots on the web always looked ok to me, but when I started playing the tutorial campaign yesterday, I just fell in love with this game.

I actually never played the original AoE 2 (played Tzar when I was younger - anyone else?). Those 2 games being a bit similar made this experience even better. Can't wait to finish my work today and sit down with the campaign again.

    TL;DR: Game Good, Like playing

Everything I typed is getting censored.

Game is literally unplayable now since I can't even communicate with my teammates. Which one of the devs thought this was a good idea? It's idiotic and should be removed immediately.

What's your opinion about the introduction of fire raft to the game?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 03:51 AM PST

Net positive or negative or neutral?

I feel like fire ships reserved for the castle age was a better move but I'm quite inexperienced at the game so can't really tell

How many Aoe2 DE fans are going to give Aoe3 DE a try?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 05:42 PM PST

With the closed Beta ongoing as we speak for the Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition, I'm just curious how many of my fellow Age of Empires 2 DE brothers and sisters will be playing Age 3DE.

A lot of the fans of the brand are on a spectrum of "I don't consider Age of Empires 3 an Age of Empires game at all" to "It was an ok game, but nothing really to take serious" generally speaking. For those who aren't aware, Age 3 does have an existing community and it's been thriving lately due to Age of Empires 2 success. There is crossover. I consider all of the Age of Empires games community as a whole, even though we self-segregate into our favorite games which is expected.

Also I'd like to point out that prior to Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, I wasn't even aware that an Age of Empires 2 community existed like it does on platforms like Youtube. I'm assuming a good chunk of the reddit community is aware of channels like T90. It's a small community but it exists. Love you guys.

    I've solved the outpost issue

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 01:07 AM PST

The issue is that no one uses them until like late castle age. This is because a single outpost means you can make two TCs when you get to castle. Or, of you do make two TCs then you can make a single outpost until you mine stone.

The solution is to make outposts a drop off point for resources (or just stone) upon completion of the building, much like a farm. So in Dark/Feudal age you can send a vil out past your stone, pick up 10 stone, make two outposts. If you're walling anywhere near your stone then an outpost would be a no-brainer. You could even up the stone cost of outpost back to 10 stone to balance the buff.

    Thoughts?

AoE and AoE2 scenarios in chronological order

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 12:15 PM PST

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1u55p00wbpozOV2e2H_6Yccbb794CZPGw9-BgVgrDyaA/edit?usp=sharing

    • According to the in game info "Acropolis" happens after "The Conquest of Crete" but I changed the year so it follows the order of the missions.
    • All the roman campaigns except "Enemies of Rome" are combined in a single campaign
    • Since there's no much information about Yodit and Sundjata all the scenarios have the same year.
    • "A Perfect Martyr" happens before the real battle of Castillon to follow the game storyline
    • According to the game " Saving the Huts" happens months after the previous scenario but I prefered to use the real year of the event.

    Every DE Lobby

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 08:53 PM PST

Does anyone remember the old, fun game modes from the conquerors and are they remade for DE?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2020 04:00 AM PST

I'll be honest, I don't remember the names of the modes. They were multiplayer, and more arcade type games. I know one of them was a tower defense mode. But there was also one where 8 players were in a fortress-like setup, but you can't really make anything yourself, instead your unique unit spawned from your castle up to a limit based on how strong that unit was considered in that mode, and you would get things like blacksmiths and other upgrades by destroying buildings.

There was also a small map where everyone started with I think militia spawning to a limit in another fortress-type map, and kills gave you petards on another island which destroyed palisade walls so you could replace your units with a better one.

I hope somebody remembers these. They were great fun, and relaxing, and I kinda miss them. I would love to see them with the new civs. Hell, if anyone could even give me a name to what those scenarios were called that would be great. I used to play them back on gameranger.

Edit: I just remembered one of the names. CBA. Castle Blood Auto and it seems to have come back in HD, seeing as there are a few extra civs. There were always a few variations of the mode too.

Is it possible to beat “An Unlikely Messiah” just using Joan the Maid?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2020 11:02 PM PST

The Perfect Messiah is a mission in the Joan of Arc campaign where you need to bring Joan to a castle on the other side of the map. The mission gives you a ridiculous amount of reinforcements, even though it can be easily beaten with just your starting units or even just using both of your knight-heroes and Joan. So far I've been able to beat the mission with a single knight and Joan; can Joan do it alone?

(I don't count the transport ship as an additional unit).
