Stonemasons versus Battlefield Construction Posted: 27 May 2020 05:28 PM PDT Two civs get a card, 'Battlefield Construction', which you will occasionally see included in their decks, as it permits their musketeers to construct specific buildings (barracks, stables, and outposts for Ottoman, barracks, caravanserai, and castles for India). If you assume that the time your military spends building these structures to be of no cost, then the question becomes, how many of these structures would you need to build before the value generated would compare favorably to, say, a 600 wood crate? That crate is worth 1,125 seconds of villager time. (1200 seconds for the wood minus 75 seconds to unpack the crate). Barracks/Stables/Caravanserai/Foundry: 30 second build time Castle: 60 second build time So, in order for Battlefield Construction to pay off, you'd need to build 37.5 barracks/stables/caravanserai/foundries, or 18.75 castles. My point being, in a regular supremacy game, crates, even mediocre ones, handily outperform the Battlefield Construction card. But let's suppose you're playing a looong game, and you think over that time you might build that much. This is where the comparison to Stonemasons is invited. Rather than saving 100% of the build time for these specific structures, you'd save 65% of the build time for all structures, including walls and town centers. Anyone with a passing familiarity with FFA or Treaty matches knows that tons of wall building goes on, along with plenty of mills, plantations, town centers, etc. Plus, these buildings will go up faster, which can be critical, such as when you're trying to repair defenses after they've been breached. Posted: 27 May 2020 09:27 AM PDT It would improve them so much! They'd be much more viable in Colonial, plus they could either have a passive or a card that makes them much faster on ice. Might be a dream but I wish it would happen. Edit: plus you could call them Dutchketeers [link] [comments] | ||
[Query] Final solution for "unable to join game" Posted: 27 May 2020 11:31 AM PDT Hi folks! Quick background: Me and a bunch of friends got into online gaming post the pandemic mandated lockdown/self quarantine. All of us have played aoe3 at some point, so we downloaded the game through torrent and started playing it over voobly. Eventually, in a couple of weeks, we started getting really into the game, so bought it on steam to play it over ESO. The problem is playing the game over ESO is much more of a hassle than voobly. Whenever one of us is hosting the game, some person from the group is unable to join. Then try the other way round to let someone else host, but doesn't work. We've tried all permutations of people hosting, allowed files through firewall, port forwarding, more than required room slots, almost everything! Except using a VPN, which I'm skeptical of given the limited internet speed where we live anyway. Don't want to throttle it even further and cause the game to be too laggy. My request from you, fellow aoe3 enthusiasts, is please tell me a fool-proof solution to this. It's getting hella annoying and we've started playing the game less frequently. I'll edit my post to include a consolidated list of solution so that future aoe3 players have a one-stop solution for the same problem. P.S. We uninstalled the previous game, removed all the folders and downloaded the new one from steam to ensure none of the old files mess with the new version. So no patch mismatch issue. P.P.S. Given the number of Reddit/Steamcommunity posts I've seen on this, why has ESO not been able to fix this yet? [link] [comments] |
