    Dunno about you guys but weirdly enough Vipey makes my nights truly enjoyable. I've been following him on YT for years now but was busy with other things and whatnot. Now, with the quarantine I went back to watching at least one of his videos daily. I had made him a routine these past weeks, watching a game or two before going to sleep and dont know how to explain it but his games always make me smile, specially team games.

    That being said, these past week I felt a void inside me, to the point that when I knew it was time to go to bed, it made me sad knowing I won't be able to watch a new Vipey video.

    Hello everyone :)

    I'm excited to show everyone my pet project for the past year: aoestats.io

    Originally the site was setup to track matches played on Voobly, but over the past few weeks I've been able to convert it to DE matches and stats thanks to aoe2.net!

    You can view overall civ win rates and play rates broken down by ELO. Or you can view a particular civ and see how they match up against other civs, their win rate on each map in the ranked map pool, and how their win rates and play rates have changed patch over patch. The little percent numbers you see everywhere are how much a particular value changed compared to the last patch.

    Here are a few interesting stats that stood out to me with the most recent patch:

    • Teutons play rate jumped 171%! And their win rate is now over 50%!
    • Poor Malay's win rate is down 13% from last patch, most likely due to the bug with their 66% faster advance time bonus

    The site is automatically updated daily. I hope you all take some time to check it out and let me know what you think! I'd be happy to answer any questions folks have about the data or my methodology.

    P.S. The 1650+ ELO bracket only consists of the top 300 players and has an incredibly small amount of data, so take its stats with a grain of salt.

    I would post on the official website forum, but can't get access. I share my idea to see what people think of it.

    We all know that some people on DE regret the time when you could spend your entire day playing arabia or arena, depending on your preference.

    I like the idea of a map pool, since it encourages variety. But my idea is allowing the players to choose, in addition to bans, a "favourite map". The idea is that if two players get randomly matched, and if they both chose the same favourite map, then they would automaticly get this map (let's say they both favorited arabia, they would play arabia)

    That way, people would get to play their favourite map more often, whilst still playing other maps in the map pool. And that way you ensure that if two players want to play the same map, they don't get a map that both of them find less interessting.

    Hey, guys recently I made a post ( https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/g9ha67/trying_to_gain_a_audience/ ) about asking the community (you) what I could do to gain your viewership and possibly even entertain you ;)

    After a couple of weeks of consistent streaming with a moderate level of success, i thought id review the advice you have all given me

    - Intermediate casting. I would LOVE to do this, but i need a bit bigger audience on my twitch and also need some people to drop me some game recs (discord link is in my yt videos go drop them there). But i definitely plan to do this and would love to get some other entertainers co-casting with me

    - Climbing the ladder. This is what i have been doing, I have streamed for every day for like 16 days now (surprisingly exhausting) just showcasing my climb up the ladder

    -Gaining a presence on youtube. I just spent a day editing and recording a video so I would love it if you guys could check it out and give me some advice.

    I just wanted to give a massive thanks to everyone who responded last time, this community is awesome and super supportive, and I'd love to hear more opinions and advice. on how to grow and gain viewership and improve the quality of my streams/videos

    TIL a complete blacksmith is pretty rare, and has been becoming rarer per expansion.

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in Age of Kings: 4/13 (30.77%) = Britons, Chinese, Saracens, Turks

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in The Conquerors: 1/5 (20%) = Spanish; 5/18 (27.78%) overall

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in The Forgotten: 1/5 (20%) = Italians; 6/23 (26.09%) overall

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in The African Kingdoms: 2/4 (50%) = Berbers, Portuguese; 8/27 (29.62%) overall

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in Rise of the Rajas: 0/4 (0%); 8/31 (25.81%) overall

    Number of civs with a complete blacksmith upgrade in Definitive Edition/The Last Khans: 0/4 (0%); 8/35 (22.86%) overall

    Only 5 civs had a complete blacksmith in AoC, and only 3 civs from HD onward have had them. Every other civ misses at least one blacksmith upgrade.

    By definition, the American civs (Aztecs, Incas, Mayans) all miss at least one upgrade due to not having access to cavalry upgrades.

    Before Rise of the Rajas, every non-American civ that missed a blacksmith upgrade retained access to Castle Age upgrades (i.e. Iron Casting/Bodkin Arrow/Chain Mail/Barding/Leather Archer Armor). Afterwards, we see Burmese without Leather Archer, Malay without Chain Barding, and Tatars without Chain Mail armor.

    Every civ save one has access to at least one of Blast Furnace or Bracer, with only the Malians lacking access to both.

    Personally I love 3v3. You have different roles (flanks and pocket) but it's not as messy as a 4v4 game

    Does Stirrups need a visual indicator?

    I've been messing around a bit as Bulgarians in my games and realized that there is no way for your opponent to know whether or not you have Stirrup knights or not. This has led to me engaging in favorable knights vs. knight battles, but I can't help but think my opponent would have never taken the fight in the first place if he knew stirrups was in. I'm not sure how exactly this could be indicated, but everything else has a way of telling you how strong the unit is i.e. blacksmith shoes in stats, bloodlines shows in hp, husbandry is clearly faster, and unit upgrades obviously change unit appearance. Maybe show a 10+2 (33%) in the stats?

    TL;DR: Visual indicator needed for Stirrups in stats or on units

    Hey fellows Kings and emperors

    Sorry for my bad english, i post here because I'm curious about a rush strategy for byzantines: Instead of classical fast castle knight rush with other civs, why not going for a Camel rush byz ? Here are the maths, i assume everybody have at least forging:

    6 knights : 360food / 420gold

    600hp (24hits of pikemen with 25dom)

    11/1.8*6=36,6dps

    9 byz Camel : 378food / 405gold

    900hp (40hits of pikemen with 23dom)

    7/2*9=31,5dps

    The camels do, indeed, less damages but last longer si deny more economy. What do you think about it ?
