    I tried to quit.

    I really did. But can't stay on the sidelines anymore. I was around 17xx in voobly 4 years ago and now will start all over again.

    I started at 5 years old and played the montezuma first episode for a solid 3 years with the same amazement. ( the one with the jaguars / never confessed this to anyone lol ) and met voobly at around 5 years ago. played for a year and quit, now that this quarantine bs is kicking in i can't stop the 5 year old inside myself.

    I appreciate the effort it takes to put out monthly patches and content, but it's unacceptable the amount of bugs you introduce due to poor implementation.

    Off the top of my head the garbage that's been put into the game due to bad patches:

    -teleporting through walls

    -paper TCs

    -bugged kill count

    -bugged malay age up tech

    -disappearing cliffs

    -worse pathing

    -chat lag

    -and most recently problems with network stability/matchmaking

    To make matters worse it takes you a month to fix game breaking/affecting bugs. Seriously get your shit together. If it takes you two months or even more to put out a patch and properly test it then fine. Quit putting out buggy patches, it's awful.

    Voobly went offline today for a while and when i logged back in, i found my country changed to USA... i went back to change it to my nation... but i found out they removed Palestine... is there any reason for this?? Were can i contact any voobly mods perhaps? I dont want to get into the whole politics of it and that my nation is not a "real" nation or whatever, but it was there for years and now its removed... i know it might seem silly to some, but it is important to me

    How to tackle update stability - A proposal

    First, I want to say that I really enjoy the Definitive Edition, a lot of great improvements were made and more people are playing the game then ever, which is fantastic! I love the fact that the devs are still working on the game, improving it and rebalancing the game every month as well as shuffling the map pool.

    A monthly update to a competitive live game is (in my eyes) pretty ambitious, but that said the last few updates brought a lot of issues with them, from matchmaking issues, bugs to balancing problems. Just have a look at the forum or here on reddit a day after the release, some actual game breaking bugs like connection issues and team chat being broken. I have the impression those updates could and will hurt the game more than they do good. Especially if you have to wait a whole month until those things get fixed.

    Lets discuss how we could deal with this; I want this game to do even better than it is right now!

    After looking at how other competitive games are handling updates, I think the best idea would be to create a beta branch for the game, maybe 4-8 days before the planned update release. You can opt into this beta via steam or maybe even in-game, but you don't have to. This gives everyone the time to check out the new changes if they want to. Even the best QA in the world won't find all the bugs or balancing issues but the players will ;) Things like the Malay bug or Team Chat being broken would have been easily discovered and could have been fixed before it hits the live game. This would also enable people to give better feedback and discuss the new changes before they are set in stone.

    Let's hear would you people think about!

    New bugs this patch

    Let me list a few:

    1, Stuck at loading screen forever and never entering game, no elo loss though.

    2, Queue screen stuck on top of game loading screen so I can't see any of my in-game content. Only able to hear the sound of game.

    3, Weird matchmaking, match me with 2k elo players while I'm only 1400.

    4, Long queue time and fail to join the match multiple times.(This one is kind of old but much more frequent after this patch)

    5, Hacking intensifies, now a hacker is at #1 rank, how ironic.

    I really love aoe2, but the devs are slowly ruining it. I've already reported the bugs, Hope someday they'll fix the bugs instead of adding more skins or avatars. I mean come on, who need that stupid trophy when I literally cannot play.

    Which civs have "generic" versions of common units?

    Hi all,

    I am trying to provide useful and interesting videos/information for the AoE2 community and I want to figure out how different units perform against each other to help players gain a better intuition about which unit does well in certain situations. For every unit in the game I let it fight against every other unit. After the fight I count the remaining HP and order the units by how well they counter the other unit. Kamayuks would be a great counter against Magyar Hussars because they win and they survive with a lot of HP left.

    Here is an example youtube video: ELITE JAGUAR WARRIOR | BEST Unique COUNTERS | Tierlist | 1000 Resources Please don't shit on it because it does not include micro. It's a starting point and will only get better. Let's focus on the units here :)

    Edit: Putting all units (ranged and melee) together in one tierlist was dumb, I am working on it.

    In these videos I only looked at Unique Units. Of course, I also want to test common units and so for each unit I search for a civ that has the generic version (fully upgraded, but no civ specific bonus). Does this table below look correct to you?

    And then it might also be interesting to test some special versions, for example Bulgarian Cavaliers, Ethiopian siege, Frank paladins, Persian crossbows, etc. What else do you have in mind?

    X villagers to keep Y buildings producing?

    I'm more or less new to the game and I'm specifically looking for info on the relation of villagers necessary to keep buildings producing. E.g. 6 farmers to keep a Town Center producing villagers, 8 gold miners to produce Archers out of two Ranges, etc. (don't know if these examples are even accurate)

    I'm practicing Cicero's build orders and those are very helpful. In mid to late game though, i often find it hard to balance villagers and production buildings and end up super short on some resources and with too much of another.

    I couldn't find much myself beside collection rates. Are there maybe spreadsheets or some other kind of resources on this topic or will i have to compile this information myself?

    (new player) how do you deer?

    still learning the game, and deer are like 6 miles away from TC and they aren't involved in any build order. what are they for and how do you use them? Im not joking I have no idea why they are there. I guess if somebody lames you, its like the designers are spitting on you while you are down like "here's your food you failure" but that can't be why they are there. help me out here, what are they for? Sheep is accessible good food, berries are accessible ok food, boars are inaccessible great food, farms are mediocre but consistent food. wtf are deer for?

    After my dissapoinment when I realised the campaign introduction that was played before the first William Wallace campaign was not included in DE, I decided to make it myself and now it's finished I want to share it with you.

    Some parts attempt to be idéntical to the original and some others are scenes I did myself in order to include all of the new features that came after conquerors.

    Played a 3 v 3 arena today. Our team was winning and then our best player dropped. I paused the game and asked the other team were they happy to restore but recieved no answer and they unpaused the game- so what would you do if your team is losing but the opposing team just had a drop? Also whats the general ettiqutte when theres a drop in TG?
