    I have spent the last few months playing "Noob" team matches in the non-ranked lobby, getting fustrated by either getting matched up with people who are clearly too good and getting trampled, or having one person on my team win single handedly and I end up making no contribution.

    I recently make the switch to ranked. It is so much better; now everyone I play is roughly around my level and it makes matches so much more fun; not worrying about how good everyone else is.

    I've won some, I've lost some, I dont care; it is so much more fun. I would highly recommend everyone give it a go.

    I think what held me back was being afraid of what my elo could be; It is a number, it does not matter.

    T90 destroys low elo meta

    Btw, this is not a hate post.

    I'm sure you've all seen T90's Legend of Liar video where that guy goes Malay Fast Castle into War Elephants...

    Everyone has.

    And you can tell in game because EVERY TIME I've gotten on a match in hideout, my opponent chose Malay and attempted the strat.

    Apparently it's such an issue that most games are mirror matchups because both players choose Malay.

    I've been going straight into pikes every time and it works like a charm.

    Hi Reddit, greetings from India!

    Like most people here, I have extensively played AoE2: The Conquerors Expansion extensively in my late teens till mid 20s in multiplayer (1v1 ,2v2 and 4v4 formats).

    Have played competitively too and our clan used to be one of the most efficient ones at national level in this.

    We are all in mid-late 30s to early 40s now and we're rediscovering the love of the game (most of us are now spread across the world; mainly US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and what not.

    I know it's probably a side bar thing but our old asses are quite eager to get back in the game and I want to call out to the community for the best resources available for transitioning from old AOE2 HD to new AOE:DE in best possible way.

    Any civ guides, build orders, streamers follow, strategy improvements etc, everything is welcome.

    Please recommend what you think is the best possible resource to enhance the AOE experience in the thread.

    We love AOE and we want it to reclaim its glory in the world of esports.

    How to introduce friends to AOE2

    So I just realized that AOE2 DE is on pc game pass; all of my friends have game pass. They're not super into strategy games but if it's free I want to see if they'd like it. Is there like a 30 second gif that makes the game look as cool as it feels? I don't want to send a 40 minute T90 video and their first impression of the game be ruined.

    Is m@a into scouts a thing?

    Newbie here.

    On open maps, I see a lot of men at arms build orders that go into archers or towers, but not scouts.

    Is it because people are usually walled up by that time? Or something with the resources? Am I overlooking something?

    If your civ favours calvary instead of archers, would it make sense to follow up a m@a rush with scouts? Or just go for fast castle based on your early pressure?

    Is there a reason to make steppe lancers over keshiks?

    Hi, noob player here, was looking into getting comfy with tatars, but I'm trying to figure out if there's ever a situation where steppe lancers are better than keshiks.... Not only are the keships cheaper, they're also stronger in every regard that I can see with my noob eyes. And then I'm not even talking about the gold generation from keships.

    So in a game I typed "Greeks hate italians" and it was starred out. The word ITALIANS was censored!

    Also I watched a recording of the same game and one player somehow had 350/250 population (and no he wasn't a crazy aztec conversion monster), got spies with much less than 30k gold with four post imp players on the board and had an economy score on a 2 hour post imp game of 400. He lost anyway. Didn't know you could savage hax aoe2 de.
