    Unpopular opinion but I don't want to play every game on Arabia. I'd say 50% of my games that aren't Arabia drop because the other players don't want to play the map. Can't we get a temporary ban so you cant queue again for 10 minutes or so if you back out

    How to macro while being offensive.

    Hello there, i have recently taken up the game, again... ( in an endless cycle of playing stoping and coming back) and I havr noticed my macro slips up big time while i raid. Not necesarily the producrion part but the setting up of the eco. I kinda have 40 vills on wood sometimes when i look back at home from a raid. Any tips how i could improve this part of my gameplay?

    About the favorite map system

    So, before this system was introduced I wanted a system like that. But I'm not entirely satisfied with the way the system works currently, it needs a simple tweak imo

    The way it works is : if I favorite a map and you ban that map and you favorite a map that I have not banned, than we always get matched on your favorite map.

    In 1v1 it is not a big problem with most map pools, since you have enough bans to ban the maps you don't want to play anyway, so you cannot be forced to play a map you don't like too often

    But in TG it is very different. I was playing the other day and realised this : if 7 people favorite arabia (which is not unlikely given how popular the map is) and the 8th player favorites either BF or arena (maps the 7 other players probably don't want to play) and bans arabia, then we are always going to get matched on arena or BF. At higher elos, where the number of players you can get matched with is smaller, that leads to sometimes having to play arena or BF 3 or 4 times in row, with everybody in the game except one guy complaining that they don't want to play this map

    The solution? : make the favorite map thing work only if a majority of players favorited it, and if the map is not banned by anyone

    Say 6 player favorite arabia, 1 favorites oasis and 1 arena. 1 players bans arabia, so we cannot get matched on arabia, then, since no majority emerges, we can get matched on any map remaining that is banned by no player

    Ya...I know this is a stupid question. But nothing shows up when I google it. The guy on the right of OG AoE2 base game cover is Japanese, that much I can tell, but others, not so much.

    Is lag caused by the game or a potato PC ?

    Hello there,

    Each time I'm playing in a lobby I created with my friends, the game is struggling in only 10-15 mins and it never gets better till the end of the game.

    What is the reason of this lag ? I (host) have a very good PC/internet. My friends have average PC that can run it without problem in solo mode.

    I'm so frustrated because that was the main problem in HD version... and now this version is going the same way...

    so Nicov complained after the team island game against germany a that the rng in this map favoured the germans massivly because they had 3 extra gold and 3 extra stone while argentina only had 1 extra stone. this ultimately lead to argentina running out of gold and ultimately loosing the map.

    and i am a little bit conflicted about this topic because the way the game played out. to nicovs credit this is a high level tournament and on team island that doenst seem fair for one team

    on the other side everybody scouted thheir map early so the information should have been known in feudal age latest. there adaptation should take place. earlier trade and map controll are the solutions to this problem. in the game in mid to late castle age argentina had full water controll with nili loosing everything on water and having to heavily redoc before they could think about the comback. ultimately there waa a 10 minute gap where argentina didnt suround germanys island letting nili come back on water and allowing jordan to hold and build up a tower defense. i think that in 9/10 times Argentina should win this game. they still had gold they didnt start trade they alloweed tower and fetoria build and didnt use map controll for a save landing (which came to late in my opinion)

    i understand nicovs frustation and he has a point and it should be fixed but i think in this game it simply wasnt the reason they lost. this is not against him and i eould probably react the same way

    at the point the map rng matterd they already made crucial mistakes

    what is your opinion on this

    Unit behavior now affected by lag

    When the game is laggy, unit behaviour is actually different now. I'm fairly certain this wasn't the case before. Someone posted a recording of archers missing every shot due to the lag.

    When you watch a game and it was laggy, you can tell the units in the replay are actually laggy too.

    They must have really messed something up in the game engine last update...

    AOE India announces The Sultans Cup, a 3v3 Random Map Tournament.

    AOE India is excited to announce The Sultans Cup - A 3v3 Random Map Tournament to be played on Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition

    The Tournament will be starting from 13th December 2020 with an initial prize pool of INR 15,000 12,500, 10,000.

    Sign ups will be open from 23rd November 2020 to 6th December 2020 11:59PM Indian Standard Time.

    Signing up will require associating the Steam/AoE2.net profile links on the AOE India Discord Server. The Sultans Cup Category will be visible after associating. After that, use the #registration channel to submit your team registrations as per the format pinned in that channel.

    Eligibility:

    • Currently restricted to Indian Players. Might be changed at a later date.

    • Minimum of 25 1v1 Ranked games played by 23rd November 2020 11:59PM IST (Hard cap, no exceptions).

    • Minimum of 30 1v1 ranked games played by Tournament start. For players with > 25 games but < 30, you have until 6th December to get to your 30 1v1 Ranked games.

    • Minimum 5 1v1 Ranked games played in November.

    The exact weeks for each round will be announced after the closing of the sign ups. Each round of BO3 will last 1 week.

    Team Balance To balance out the teams and discourage smurfing, a novel points system will be used, which has been described in the announcements channel on the Discord server.

    Defensive civilization

    Powerful melee units, defences and monks, good economy, weak archers and navy

    So I really hope a Georgian civ will be added to AOE at some point. The medieval Georgian kingdom was at the epicenter of all Eurasian warfare – Arabs, Turks, Byzantines, Cumans, Mongols, they fought them all and survived. So I think a more defensive touch would work better for this civ. Their defenses were not that outstanding, but they have a history of constantly rebuilding the fortifications across the country – so 50% faster repairmen is my idea to reflect this. Another defense tool is a light tower that provides pop space – a unique building - as Georgia was dotted with hundreds of small defense towers in every village. Plus the country is rife with forests and rock quarries – so cheaper military buildings. The army had outstanding shock heavy cavalry – good paladins with extra armour from the unique tech and the UU Monaspa – the elite heavy cavalry unit of the Georgian army. The anti-camel bonus stems from the constant wars Georgia had with "camel rife" civs and often won decisively. The second UU the Khevsur is a defensive anti-siege infantry that is best kept guarding your base and trebuchets. As for the team bonus – under constant press from Islamic civs Georgians yet stayed a Christian nation – so a little conversion bonus.

    Bonuses:

    Can build Svan towers (light tower that provides 5 pop)

    Military building (except castles) cost -25%

    Repairmen work 50% faster

    Stable techs research 50% faster

    Monaspa – heavy cavalry resistant to anti-cavalry attack (less so than the Cataphract), attack bonus against camel units.

    stats: HP 110 (130) At 11 Melee 1 Pierce 2

    Khevsur – slow heavy infantry with an attack bonus against siege.
