Posted: 07 Sep 2021 04:51 AM PDT I always get confused with the blacksmith armour icons, I never know which one belongs to which age. I can't imagine I'm the only one who struggles with it, so therefore I made a mod that replaces the regular blacksmith icons with ones that show in which age the technologies can be researched. The mod can be downloaded in-game or from the mod centre. Hope it helps some of you! [link] [comments]
Shoutout to the Jan Zizka campaign (forgive my that I can't type the check mark on letter Z) Posted: 06 Sep 2021 11:45 PM PDT I've heard of the Hussite War before, and knew a little bit about the Hussite wagon (from AoE3), but I never really knew about the details of the war, and the national hero of Czech Republic. I finished the campaign today, with great admiration toward the heroic figure Jan Zizka, who defended his land and pursued for the greater ideology against the corrupted Roman Church. The story of this campaign may sound like El Cid or Ivaylo, but unlike these two where the protagonist eventually failed, Jan Zizka successfully protected his land. The gameplaying experience of this campaign is also marvelous, especially with the last four missions in the Hussite War timeline, where the players have access to the wagons. The reason why this campaign has a 3-star difficulty is the lack of villagers in many missions, but that can be solved by completing secondary objectives. When I played the fourth campaign, I searched for the real battle of Vitkov Hill on wikipedia, and was intrigued by the unbelievable fact of 80~ peasants defeating a great army of 1000+ knights. What I can do after completing the campaign is showing homage to Jan Zizka, a man with ingenious tactics, great valor and determination. [link] [comments]

Villagers all spawned female until #27 Posted: 06 Sep 2021 02:49 PM PDT I only took a screenshot after 19 females in a row (some left my field-of-view), but I didn't get a male villager until #27. Chances of this happening - one in 33.5 million. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2021 05:56 AM PDT The co-op mode is still in Beta stage and match making sucks big time. The lack of communication and the complete radio silence from the devs about this game mode is appalling. As a casual player, I looked forward to playing in co-op games like the one in StarCraft 2. Is this game mode now dead or what? [link] [comments]
Posted: 06 Sep 2021 11:25 AM PDT Players should be allowed to pick civ if a majority agrees on it, the picked civs then overrides 'random civ' alternative: allow players to enable a filter to only match up with those who have [?] enabled, increasing the average queue time for each player, but giving those who greatly prefer random a better time. Reasoning: im perfectly fine with people hoanging, i can tolerate ppl who go full lame with mongols/ goths, but it doesnt seem fair to me those players can train their one trick over and over again, while I have to learn to play vs many different all-in styles. Picking mirror does not mitigate this advantage. This is a personal opinion of course, but i don't find it very fun to play vs people who do the same stuff over and over again. I never feel satisfied when i win those kind of games Thoughts? Feel free to disagree/downvote this post. just wondering what reddit thinks of this 😊 [link] [comments]

Completed all of the campaigns! Posted: 06 Sep 2021 04:14 PM PDT I picked AOE2 back up about a year ago after 10-15 years away from the game. Mostly I have played random map vs AI but today I finished all of the campaigns/historical battles on Standard mode. I will move onto moderate next, and so on and so forth, but I was feeling very proud of myself and wanted to share! [link] [comments]
Obuch and imperial skirm combo? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:35 AM PDT SoL and others have shown the strength of obuch and skirm combo, I imagine adding imperial skirm would only make it better? Are we going to see those civ match ups in team games? What other ways would those two civs benefit each other? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:22 AM PDT In many post I have noticed many people claim to be a intermediate player because they are at the middle of the player base. But in other post some people are noob even been better than 85% of the player base. So why not make a formal discussion and see where is the line and why. [link] [comments]

Are we sure "common wisdom" build orders are best? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 07:08 AM PDT As a new player to DE, I've been training my skills in different aspects of the game. Now I'm onto build orders. There seems to be some "common wisdom" regarding build orders, with SOTL's video perhaps being the best example. Same content is in the AOE2 fandom website. Everywhere I see visual guides, sometimes focusing on different strategies like scout rush, archer rush, FC, etc (e.g here, here, here and here). There are tons of online videos on same topic. There is even a mod to train build orders! But this level of things makes me wonder whether this "common wisdom" is accurate, in the sense of being statistically (on average) the best build order. Are they? Just like people create combat simulators to test UU counters, has someone simulated tons of build orders in order to find the best generic/archer/scout/FC/etc? [link] [comments]

Can't save games while offline. Posted: 07 Sep 2021 01:16 AM PDT I tend to just play Ranked if I can but occasionally during server maintenance, if my internet breaks or on my lunchbreak (I can't play Ranked on my work wifi for some reason, go figure) I'll have a go on one of the campaigns, but I have to beat it in one sitting because it won't let me save the game! It seems like the only option is saving to the cloud, and you can't save to the cloud if you're not connected to the network! I don't remember having this problem with single player skirmishes (I can't remember to be honest, the AI bores me these days) but it always happens with campaigns, which usually means massive frustration when I'm 95% done and I lose the hero unit and the game and have to go back to the start. Is there an obvious solution I'm missing here? [link] [comments]
What is the best civ to learn a drush flush? Posted: 06 Sep 2021 03:45 PM PDT Trying to work on this BO and there are many great options. Which civ do you consider top tier and why? There are alot of great options here. Trying to narrow down which civ i should focus on. Or should I use multiple civs to work on this BO with? Personally I prefer Britons however I am curious what other think. What civ do you think is best? And do you think learning the BO with 1 civ should be a civ with a good eco bonus or should I play a civ with no eco bonus to work on this? [link] [comments]

Any decent graphics/art modding tutorials? Posted: 07 Sep 2021 03:23 AM PDT I'm eager to create custom building/unit graphics to swap into the game, however the tutorials I come across just lose me when it comes to locating the existing art files. (At the moment I'm just accessing files at random and hoping I come across what I'm after) Are there any decent guides that take me through the process? I appreciate any responses even if it's just links to random old threads that go nowhere :) [link] [comments] |
