Late game is a horrible slog that emphazise the worst thing of AOE3 Posted: 04 Oct 2021 04:39 PM PDT I absolutely don't like at all games that reach the dreadful stage where both parties are roughly matched and at max eco (or close to) with running factories. Both sides have to close themselves behind wall, and build units dedicated to kill said wall if they wish to be on the offensive. Harassment is almost non-existent: you're stopped by the walls, and you must have a bigger mass of units, leading to fight where the micro is reduced to its simplest expression, save for the culverins which must be microed to hell and back. There is no more ressource contest: you're both holed up and won't leave the security of your multi-layered wall until one of you drop out of boredom. Map control barely matters. You just have to breach the layers upon layers of wall. You're not fighting the opponent anymore, you're fighting the game. You're fighting the attack move that didn't recognized that your ranged cav is now in melee with the ennemy's skirmsher. You're fighting the pathing AI of the game. You're fighting the culverin AI that decided to fire on the enemy hussars instead of the enemy's artillery in range. You're fighting your skirmishers that decided to siege wall section instead of shooting at enemies. Against an accustomed opponents, you will be fighting layer upon layer of walls that will take a good 20 seconds should you have a few mortars (but not too much cause it dents your army population), aggravating even more the pathing AI issues and god save you if your opponent has a card to increase wall HP. And then, you did the breach, you killed the army. Fear not, the 5 barracks/5 stables will reproduce within 30 seconds all you have killed, and you're locked in a boring war of attrition. You're not fighting a skirmish, you're fighting a Verdun, or Somme battle in a game that is bad for that. You're hoping that your massed artillery will get that lucky shot. You're hoping that your opponent will drop out of boredom. Late game is where fun goes to die. [link] [comments] | ||

Etc etc. How do you find the concept? I think it would be a nice way of exploring AOE3 mechanics and making players get creative with their builds. In retrospect, maybe it should be on set maps and a set civ for the opening map and the loser picks the civ for rounds 2 and 3. Anyways the card draft part is the more important thing, what do you think? [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 04 Oct 2021 09:45 AM PDT Hi there, I've been playing the aoe3 definitive since it's release and ever since the first day, I have been experiencing screen tearing. I am using r3 3200g apu and I don't have a free sync monitor. I have updated my drivers but this only happens when I play aoe3. No other game has the same issue. In addition, even if I switch tabs when the game is open, the tearing continues. [link] [comments] | ||

I´ve seen that I'm not the only one with this issue but can´t find any solution. I tried to reinstal and the issue is the same. Help? [link] [comments] |
