    Voice acting appreciation post

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 11:37 AM PDT

I admit, there were a few blunders in the past, and I'm also a bit unhappy about the absence of dialects regarding the (new) German and now Italian units, HOWEVER the voice actors they do hire are really awesome. It's just like the AI personalities, it massively improves the atmosphere of the game. So, my recent favourites:

    1. Berber Sultan/Camel Riders, but also the villagers: So much character from a language you rarely hear.

    2. Multiple Italian voice actors. Especially the church wagons sound better than they have any right to.

    3. The Greek ones. Again, the Athos wagons. When I heard those I immediately got the desire to book a holiday to Greece. Love the attitude.

(Honorable mention: Finally a reliable way to get the good old Scottish voice lines with the Maltese Grand Master. I'm a picture!)

    1. The Maltese Fire Throwers. Whoever did that deserves a raise. Hahaha!

Need Help for the Milan challenge

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 07:36 AM PDT

As we all know you need the new DLC to complete the Milan challenge. I don't own the DLC but you can use the Multiplayer for this.

I was looking for a host of a "historical map" several times, but I couldn't find one in the last days.

So: can someone help me and host a historical map for us, which we will play for at least 10 minutes?

Thanks in advance. (I am in central Europe)

What happens when you build ONLY order units as Malta as your strategy?

I’m just loving AoE3 right now.

The Mexicans… so interesting to use?! The Maltese? So good. Love to creep forward tactically. Really love the use of hospitals to heal expensive units and crawl.! Just loving it so much more than AoE4.

Why do Sentinels always use two pop space?

    Posted: 09 Jun 2022 06:49 PM PDT

I get it for the Hospitaller. It's basically the Maltese Doppelsoeldner with some similar upgrades.

I get it for the Fire Thrower. It's like a Skirmisher that's solid against buildings. Abus Guns also need two pop, so do grenadiers. It's arguably more fun than those, with flametrowers and or rockets.

I do not get it for the sentinel. Okay, I kind of get it, it's to discourage an agressive playstyle (they are, like, guardians) in the early to mid game. HOWEVER, you just don't get any other Musketeer type unit later on. Why does non of the AgeIV cards reduce their pop space to 1 to be competitive with other musketeers? Or am I missing some secret trick that makes them totally worth it?

    Ottoman Nizam rush

    Posted: 10 Jun 2022 12:52 AM PDT

    Hello fellow AOE3 players,

Recently I played a ranked 1v1 and I did my usual musketeer rush but this Ottoman opponent surprised me with a sudden Nizam defensive at age 2 and completely destroyed my musketeers.

Does anyone know this fast track strategy where you mass the 20 nizams in age 2 and put a constant jans on the production?

Age of Empires 3 World Conquest League

    Posted: 09 Jun 2022 01:47 PM PDT

Have you ever wanted a world conquest mode in Age of Empires 3? Well now we at the Age of Sunbros server will be hosting an event whereby 22 different players, each representing 1 civilization will compete in a real world map conquering from territory to territory trying to establish their empire.

How exactly will a multiplayer world conquest like this work?

At the start of the season each player will start on a map representing their civilization's origin. From there a draft will start. Each player will look at the world map and select the preference of maps in order which they want them. As soon as all of these preferences are submitted we will host a draft randomly determining who gets to choose first, and over two rounds the map will be filled up. Further details will be provided in the discord.

Once the map is fully drafted the season begins. Each week each player will choose one map to attack and try to conquer. If the attacker wins, then they take the territory and remove their opponents flag from the territory on the world map, replacing it with their own. Defenders will be playing to keep their territory in their empire while also attacking others.

After 8 weeks, the players with the most points in the standings will go to a playoffs where both sides choose one of their opponents territories to attack. During the playoffs each player will choose three of their maps that they conquered over the course of the season to show to their opponent, and their opponent will draft one of the maps from among them, with a final tiebreaker map being chosen by the tournament organizers as the perfect halfway point between their two empires.

The finals will be a best out of 5 and the winner will get bragging rights and own the largest empire in history.

If this sounds like something of interest to you please join the discord below and check the #world-domination-club! channel under 'Miscellaneous Chat' to see which civilizations are available. Then link your steam or discord profile so that tournament organizers and competitors can contact you regarding scrims and matches.

We hope you all have fun.

Question about the new Historical Maps

    Posted: 09 Jun 2022 04:39 PM PDT

I know I'm gonna feel stupid when I figure out the answer, but on historical maps such as Great Turkish War where there is a timer, where exactly is the timer? Like, where on screen (or what button do I push) to see how much time is left?

Less important, in GTW specifically how exactly do I capture the city districts?
