    SC2 Player Looking to get Into AoE2

    What the title says. I'm plat 3 with random in Starcraft 2, and I have had some casual interaction with the AoE games in the past. With AoE2 DE coming up, I figured it's as good a time as any to get into the game. Is there any decent place to get started with mechanics and builds for this game? My learning experience with sc2 was basically learning one build for each race, and working on my mechanics while executing the build. Would it make sense to use a similar approach for Age of Empires?

    How to counter towers+trash?!

    So, I played two games versus the same guy on Voobly. The lobby was named "1v1 huns war arabia training" or similar. The first game I believe I lost my scout, so I figured it's gonna be scouts and spears, a bit of dancing and then knights and/or cav archers. Instead he made his barracks forward and drushed with 4 or 5 militia followed by a tower and scouts in Feudal. Nevermind this, I foolishly expected a practice of huns war meta, my bad.

    But then came the second game, and I am tilted because of it. I expected early non-hun-meta aggression, and I was right. The first game he was late to Feudal due to the militia, 13.44 I believe was his uptime. This game he was up on 9.5X, meaning fast as hell. I found my boars and sheep, found his base and started scouting for his barracks. As expected, he built it forward, right outside my base. I found it just as it was about to finish, so right before he went up to Feudal. I expected a tower, so I started making one. Before it was finished he had 2 spearmen attacking the base of the tower, and a skirmisher. He got his tower up, my defensive tower didn't go up because his tower killed my vills. Even if it had gone up, I had just gotten a range up and created one (1) archer. No real way of killing of his units at the base of my tower, unfortunately.

    I resigned quickly, since he had all the trash a man can wish for and forward vills making towers and military buildings. What to do?! I don't know if I should have scouted it earlier, maybe that's a part of the problem. But even if I do, he's up faster and has army faster. My defenders advantage is basically gone when he has his barracks right outside my base. I haven't watched the replay yet, I have a VOD from my stream showing only my POV if anyone is interested. Otherwise I can post the replay tomorrow (or maybe I can direct link Voobly replays?). I would love for someone knowledgable to watch it and explain how the hell it is countered.

    Edit: my Feudal time in this horrible game 2 was 10.04 or something, basically 10.0X, so still not slow. Despite that he had a lot more army than my lonely archer.

    I've been having trouble whenever I save and load a game with the "The Lord of the Rings Mod" the problem when I load up the saved game that was saved with the mod is that the mod just isn't applied at all. Any help is appreciated
