That said I have a BO7 showmatch vs TheViper this Saturday (dec 21st) at 18 GMT. Rules: - No stealing boar with scout. No palisading straggler trees. As we now have the option to ban our least favourite maps from the pool in ranked matchmaking, I thought it would be interesting to know, which maps get banned the most. In some SC2 subreddits, there is a survey for every new seasonal mappool so trends become visible. If the devs decide to rotate the pool from time to time, we might start seeing a trend too! an idea for ranked matchmaking regarding the map system Posted: 19 Dec 2019 07:21 AM PST so the problem is that many people want to choose which map they play, which would make ELO meaningless. So my idea is: split the map pool into groups, like: - open maps like arabia, green arabia (why is this not an official map yet?), cenotes, ghost lake... - water & more closed maps: team islands, hideout, baltic etc - special maps like arena, steppe, nomad, maybe put megarandom in here then have players get diminishing ELO if they only play in one map style. this way players can choose the type of map they want to play and the time (one thing that is really bad about the current system: you can't really predict how long a game is gonna be) but you still get rewarded for mastering different types of maps. the maps should still all be made for competitive play though, we can also still have map bans, of course depending on the size the map pools. there could be a problem with players not caring about ELO and be basically smurfing but this doesn't seem like an unsolvable issue. I also think the maps for more players than 2 should be slightly different, I could also see the water % more closed maps section only being available in multiplayer as they don't make for a good 1v1 gameplay. and this proposal doesn't change the need for displaying ELO in the lobby. and, sorry if a bit offtopic, but can somebody explain why we can only ban 1 to 0 maps in group matches when all players are in one single party? December update, game crashes when playing against the AI Posted: 19 Dec 2019 07:00 AM PST After the december patch, the game became totally unstable for me when playing against the AI. It crashes on me 4 out of 5 times. The crash usually happens shortly after I get up to Castle age. It happened on multiple maps, when playing a Standard game. To look over different civ's and deciding which you want to play or reviewing the one you've decided to play. It's a tiny bit annoying to be trapped on the tab you're in and you can't click anything without exiting the queue. Great new patch though, I in no way want to seem displeased about anything. Interesting side effect of playing against AI with a Treaty Posted: 18 Dec 2019 10:03 PM PST If you play against the AI with a treaty, the AI is allied to you and it appears they will accept AI commands. I was playing a 3v3 with 2 AIs on my team and 3 AIs on the other team and I asked everyone what is your strategy. Every single AI responded and told me they were building Knights. Kind of weird. It's sometimes really annoying to see some stragglers unit in a mass production late game situation fuck off to die in aggressive stance. I think this feature would be even less impactful than recurring production queue but i'm ready to be downvoted to kingdom come by the '2000 ELO voobly purist' telling me not to ruin their game. Some changes missing from the patch Posted: 18 Dec 2019 01:33 PM PST Great to see so many much-needed changes in the last patch. The developers are encouraging feedback, so here's some things that are needed in the game that were missed. Unit icon behind walls If you've just build a wall and your villager is standing behind it you simply can't see the villager. Very surprised this hasn't been addressed yet Show elo/number of games in unranked lobbies Should be obvious why Flashing idle villager button Maybe it's just me but I don't tend to notice the idles nearly as quickly as I should. It would be a small change just to make the idle counter a bit more visible Toggle ability for treb auto-packing I can see why this feature was added because for many situations its much much quicker to have your trebs automatically pack up and unpack when you want to attack a new building. However if I have a handful of trebs I'm using to try to snipe down onagers or bombard cannons the last thing I want if for half of my trebs to suddenly start packing up if the unit is at the edge of their range. It really prevents trebs from being viable in these kinds of situations. More things to look at while waiting in the ranked queue. It's a little annoying that I can't look at the tech tree or my profile while I'm waiting More stats in the user profile My profile tells me my best civ is incas. How does it know this? It must be recording much more information than it's showing me. The stats shown on the profile screen are very minimal. [link] [comments] | ||
Opinions on ballista eles post buff? Posted: 19 Dec 2019 03:55 AM PST They seem a lot stronger now that they have the same pierce armor values as damned paladins. On equal upgrades xbows need 100+shots to kill one while you only need 6 to kill one and harm the rest. Considering their high survivability and potential to stall in choke points they are not that hard to mass if you get up 1 2 castles. They still have weaknesses but I've massed them a few times on arena and they turned whole games around. Not to forget, it's your only castle age unit to cut trees, that can be pretty huge too. I feel like if this unit was on a better civ or khmer had any economic relevance it could be a really common sight on closed maps [link] [comments] | ||

I'm not even playing much lately but I still like to listen and watch castings in my downtime and at work. Are there any casters who are specifically staying with the old version?
