    Can we introduce a Civ Ban in Ranked ?

    The map pool is interesting but fundamentally unbalanced. Mongols are too strong on Valley (many preys to hunt), Chinese too strong on Nomade or arguably Vikings on Islands. These maps get boring very quickly as the game is always the same, with mirror matchs between the same civilizations.

    A good fix wdould be to have the possibility to ban 1 Civilization per map, prior to starting matchmaking. This fix was introduced in Rainbow Six for example and works pretty well.

    It also helps with some Civs that are sometimes just OP for a few months (Cumans, I am thinking about you), or players who ragequit instantly on some playstyles (Corean tower rush for example...).

    What do you think ?

    Hello, good afternoon! I've recently found out that AOE definitive edition includes campaign changes to some extent. While some Scenarios were kept unchanged, others had name changes, while a few were completely reworked. Does the same happen between the regular and definitive edition of AOE II? thank you!

    So basically the story is, I'm trying everything I can do to try and get better, I look up guides and info videos on YouTube from T90 and Spirt of the Law, I have custom scenario maps to help with build orders, and I always try and build counter units and not single unit army.

    But after all this, I have dropped too 850 on ranked after 100 hours of gameplay. I'm just about ready to delete the game for good since I'm not progressing with it at all.

    I don't know what else to do...

    So i want to edit the Kurikara scenario/map for aoe 2 de, but how do i get the map/scenario into the editor? I googled it and found Campaign manager, but it didn't work for me. So now i'm turning to y'all, what should i do?

    Constant Crashes Make This Game Unplayable

    I don't think I've ever had a game as unplayable as AOE2 DE. The game crashes constantly, I literally can't go more than 10 minutes. I don't understand how a high profile game like this could be released in this condition. This is totally unreliable and unplayable software, and I paid money for it. I'm running Windows 10.

    Hello lovely community! I was playing a 2v2 on Nomad with a friend, and it was going incredibly well (it was very obvious from the start that I had a commanding lead in score), when all of a sudden, I get the classic "game saved and exited for restoring" message. I know that this isn't an option on DE so I was quite confused and I have to wonder - is there anything the other players could have done to cause this? Maybe to try and save their rank or something? The reason I ask is that it happened just as I was delivering the killing blow (castling his tc), and we all know that saltiness can lead to foul play. Of course I didn't get the win for the game, and there is definitely no way to restore the game, even if the bum would have let us. Don't worry though, I definitely haven't ruled out that it was an actual game crash(there's plenty of them), but who could blame me for being suspicious... Curious to see if anyone has experienced this, thanks r/aoe2! Look forward to hearing from you!

    What is the purpose of Leitis ? How to make this unit more interesting ?

    I'm not claiming Leiciai are weak.

    But Leiciai are currently paladins equivalent with lower lower defenses and higher offense. They are worse vs ranged units and slightly better vs melee ones, especially armored ones (which basically means knight-line and maybe militia). Their cost is similar. They have a situational advantages vs a couple of civ-only units (TK, Boyars and the new Bulgarians "Teutonic Squires"). BUT they are built from castle with a mediocre creation speed which makes them not very attractive for most games.

    Basically, they are less focused Boyars that beat Boyars in a civ that doesn't need Boyars.

    Their main mechanic doesn't really make them specific either. It translates as +2(+3) attacks vs basically everything and add only a couple damages vs some unit. I like to think about them as potentially "more aggressive pallys", their specific ability only adding icing on this cake. Problem is : what is a "more aggressive pally" ? More attacks and less HP ? How does it make them better (at least in some cases) ? Usually more offense then defense makes a melee unit worse (except vs buildings), cause offense & defense have the same importance in melee, but defense is more important vs ranged.

    I've tried to find ideas for them, without adding new mechanics (except bonus damages). I don't have a clear winner here (some ideas are even mutually exclusive), this is just brainstorming.

    • Making them even faster (1.4->1.5), so they would be the fastest heavy cav of the game. This would be a perfect definition of aggressive pallys IMHO.

    • Adding LOS (frank knight style). Not a big change, just a bit of style to complement increased speed.

    • Increasing their melee defense compared to ranged. Something like +1/-1 armor. Not to Boyar level, but still more focused than they are. Leave even more room for pallys, and less PA would avoid making them into better Boyars. Less HP could be considered too.

    • Giving them extra damages vs Elephants. Since they already have bonus against tough melee units such as TK, giving them extra damages vs elephant would emphasize this trait, even if situationnal. Plus they carry a lance, so it would make sense.

    • Making them more pop efficient knights by rising their cost (target 70 food 80 gold or slightly more) and stats (such as HP). This is a dangerous change since Knight line is already very pop efficient. This would require an additional vulnerability to ranged attack to balance it IMHO.

    • Increase their creation speed up to DE Boyars or further. This one may be a necessary condition to make them even usable. Super low creation speed could also be an interesting idea to make them similar to shottels (glass cannons with fast creation speed).

    • Increase their RoF (with attack value balanced around it), so they benefit more from armor ignoring and relic bonus. Problem : overzealous attacks look dumb with a Lance…

    • Lower the upgrade cost (around 400 food/400 gold ??? Even less ?? Maybe crazy idea…), so they can be used alongside Paladins (but for which purpose ? Higher speed for flanking ??). Upgrade cost could take more time (up to 100s, which is extremely long for a Castle Tech) to balance early imp. Cheap Up cost hasn't been much used for UU. Might require other tweaks to work, but I would love the idea of mixing Paladins and Leiciai.

    Note : I might edit the post later with a full stats proposal, but I prefer to wait for other people ideas first. Also Lithuanians might require some nerfs if Leiciai are buffed, but I'm more focus on making this unit interesting in this thread.

    I'm fuming. Was in a michi ffa match for over an hour and among last three to survive only to die and realize that host and another player had built a secret passage for trading and host kept sending the other player resources while host's friend deleted all his vills and blasted through one player after the other with 300 pop army.

    I don't get it. What's the point? It's not like you're getting Elo for FFA.

    That still gives the matchmaker four options to play with.

    Me and my friend are getting sick of the turtle fests/randomized starts inevitable with this new map pool.

    It's almost a certainty we'll be playing a lot of Black Forest, Arena, and Nomad. Let alone island maps. All of which make me want to kill myself to varying degrees.

    The last patch at least felt like ranked matches to some degree in that you had harass options and an equal start in nearly every map. That's what competitive RTS should be.

    Patrol glitch

    I'm having an issue during games that when I put units on patrol they won't attack. Then if it happens I need to switch to attack but or another stance as they are bugged out?
