AOE2 DE needs voice talk like Civ5 BE. Posted: 03 Dec 2019 04:05 AM PST I'd really like to be able to use my microphone without having to use team speak or discord to talk with my party, As within games with randoms more often than not they just don't talk and it becomes a big issue later or early on in any game. Army composition that can trade cost effectively with Cumans' Steppe Lancer when massed Posted: 03 Dec 2019 03:15 AM PST As we all know, because of the stacking, the speed, the cost, the attack... of Cumans' Steppe Lancers, they are unstoppable when massed. I am trying to test which civ has a chance to fight Cuman. These are something that could work theoretically based on my tests. They can fight Cumans' Steppe Lancers in equal pop size, win, and lose less resources than Cumans'. Saracens: Mameluke Incas: Kamayuk Slavs: Boyar + Halbs (Actually, Teutonic knight/Elephants + halb could also work, but they are too slow that Steppe Lancer can easily out micro them) Wall + SO..... Some other civs maybe able to win this by hit-and-run, but it really depends on the map, and Cumans' Steppe Lancer runs really fast. Any other thoughts? Note that the requirement of unique units means that they may not be the solution to an intense high-level play, but these at least give you a chance when you can out boom your opponent. Old player, never tryed multiplayer. Posted: 03 Dec 2019 05:16 AM PST AoE 2 is a game I always get back into. I've been playing it for a long time, especially when i had like 10-12 till my 17. A year ago i got back into it with a mode that change a lot of thing, reskineed units and building for each civs while adding like another 20 civs, campaings etc, etc. I tryed to got my friends into the game but none of them is a rts player so after a couple of months with this mod I moved on to other games I liked. Yesterday for the first time I played definitive against IA and lost, then another one and won(4 ia free for all). So the reason to this post is I'm kind of devious about multiplayer and wanted to know what is your take about this game mode (oh and I fucking love definitive, great job devs) and why you like it. Gonna try it out today with the teutons bois just to lose with grace. Is the expertise level high in online matches? How does the matmatching works? [link] [comments]

Is there a way to pause and look at the map? Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:05 PM PST For single player. I want to see what everyone is doing but when I push escape, I can't scroll around. [link] [comments]
In need of map vetos in ranked. Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:50 PM PST If I have to play one more match of highlands or rivers again I will go nuts. The players should be given an opportunity to veto maps, as well as the ability to look at the tech tree when in ranked queue. Civ vetos are debatable. Also include a shor tpicture of the map we play on in the loading screen. If I never played on Oasis I don't know how the map looks like as a new player. [link] [comments]
So there are no good Steppe Lancer counter, is there? Posted: 02 Dec 2019 03:04 PM PST I just lost against 12 of them with 12 knights and I had 3 monks behind them to convert 2 and heal a bit. How is this a fair unit? Like a cheap knight that fights better in groups. Absolutely ridiculous both of us were in castle age and had similar booms [link] [comments]

Reasons to get Fish in the far away side of the sea? Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:51 AM PST is there a reason for going that far for a Marlin? the distance, the wait, the only 15 food per fishing ships. and due to being a ocean, one would expect a enemy ships too. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:42 AM PST I was playing lithuanians in a 3v3 arena, I had gathered 5 relics and I was just starting to mass a sweet paladin army. But then the game suddenly freezes and then shut down. And this is not the first time it happened... It's like 1 out of the 5 games. Does anyone know if they are going to fix this? Is it worth practising for multiplayer against AI? (AOE II: DE) Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:34 PM PST Should I aim to defeat the AI at the highest difficulty first, whilst attempting to learn the basics before playing multiplayer? Also, what are the differences between the AI difficulty options (CD AI etc.) [link] [comments]
DE Rated Matches Idea: each party allowed one civ and one map ban Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:18 PM PST For 1v1s, each player sets a civilization and map that they want to ban before matchmaking. In the "Select a civ" screen, the two (or one, if they've chosen the same civ to ban) banned civilizations are greyed out and cannot be chosen. For teams, each team would choose one civ. This would allow for broken civs (Cumans) to be banned. Developers would get great feedback on which civs were considered unbalanced by tracking what civs players are banning, with an eye towards re-balancing these civs in future releases. Banning maps would achieve a similar effect. Allowing a single ban from each side would leave maps of every type (open land, water, hybrid) so that you couldn't avoid a map style entirely, but if enough people are banning a map then it's a sign that the parameters need to be tweaked or a new map slotted in. This feels like a reasonable compromise on rated matches given the new system, while a sizeable improvement on what exists today given how broken some (one) of the civs are. It also scales a bit over time, so if players learn a trolly-but-effective-but-tilting style like Inca vill rushing, that can be nerfed for a bit while worked out in balance changes. (Just an example, I'm not entirely opposed to Incas as they are.) [link] [comments] |
