    Found this out yesterday from someone on here.

    You can search by player name for people's ELO in unranked, so these lobbies that you see called NOOB ONLY etc you can actually check if they are lying or not.

    I have joined and called people out a few times and it is hilarious to be kicked ASAP when you call someone out for having 1500+ ELO and over 400 games yet hosting a noob lobby for example.

    I joined a 4v4 full random noob only lobby in which at the last second the host and 2 players all switched to team 1 very quickly then started the countdown trying to sneakily team up, they were all 1400+ ELO in a named "Noob Only Random"

    Real scumbags, but this is a way you can check for cheaters and liars pregame if you are new to the game and don't want to be seal clubbed or noob bashed.

    Another new civ thread! Lets give it up for Slovaks, defensive civ, while making outposts a bit more interesting

    Thanks to u/Saint_michaels_ thread about the Tamils and their integration into game, I finally got around making myself a civ about my own nation. Of course, since Slovaks are Slavs, they are already (kinda) represented, and this is mostly for the few people that would enjoy defense-oriented civ with some interesting tweaks. Might even build a custom map/campaign around it, in due time. I am well aware that no new civs will be added to the official game, and in the end, even if they released another possible DLC in far future, Slovaks are probably not that relevant to be included anyways. So, I gotta do it myself.

    Slovaks - defensive civilisation

    Western slavic nation living in central Europe. For longer part of the history they coexisted within Kingdom of Hungary (and Austrian empire) alongside other nations such as Magyars, German, Croats, Romanians and more. The civilization is based mostly on the period from 13th to 17th century, as to differentiate it enough from generic Slavs. This period of time can be very broadly summed up as reinforcing and building many new castles after Mongol invasion, German colonisation and boom in mining towns and operations, and later wars against the Ottoman empire.

    Slovaks use the East European architecture set.

    Bonuses:

    - Miners work 10% faster (weaker Turks and Korean bonus, but lumping together both stone and gold gathering)
    - Castles build 40% faster; costs -50 stone (better, but specific Spanish bonus with weaker Franks bonus)
    - Outposts + 3 LoS, have 1/1 armor
    - Spearman line +1 melee armor per age, starting in Feudal age

    Team bonus:

    - Market works 20% faster

    Unique technologies:
    - Castle age technology: Vartovka - 200F 400S
    Upgrades outpost into Vartovka, which shoots three weak arrows (2 damage) in limited range (3), increases durability (+200hp, +1 ranged armor). Adds 10 stone to the build cost. Blacksmith upgrades do apply.

    - Imperial Age technology: Academia Istropolitana - 400W 200G
    Each university research grants +1 hp to infantry and cavalry units

    Unique unit

    - Zeman - 60F 50G; Eltie upgrade: 500F 600G

    Medium cavalry unit with bonus attack against archers and gunpowder units. Good pierce armor, good speed, medium attack damage.

    Stats:

    100 hp (115), 1/3 base armor (1/5), 9 damage (11) +9 bonus damage against archers (+11), +9 against gunpowder units (11), 1.41 speed (slightly faster than knight line), RoF 1,93

    Missing upgrades and units:

    Barracks - Champion, Eagle warrior line,
    Archery range - Cavalry archer line, parthian tactics, arbalest
    Stable - Cavalier, paladin, camel rider line, battle elephant line, husbandry

    Monastery - Illumination
    Siege workshop - Siege onager, heavy scorpion, bombard cannon

    Blacksmith - Ring archer armor, plate barding armor
    University - Treadmill crane, siege engineers
    Castle - none
    Dock - Galleon, elite cannon galleon, fast fire ship, shipwright

    Economy upgrades/Market - Two-man saw, Guilds

    Wonder:

    Basilica of St Giles, Bardejov

    Playstyle:

    Their playstyle is based around strong fortifications and extensive line of sight, thanks to the buffed up outposts/vartovkas. Deploying sturdy halberdiers and fast Zemans against enemy units, while retaining the possibility of acceptable two-handed swordsmans, if you get enough of research with the IA tech.

    Their weaknes is definitely water (Slovaks never lived close to the sea), and archers, which lack the last defence upgrade, alongside arbalest and whole cav. archer line. Since most archers will outrange Vartovkas even with max archer attack upgrades, they cannot be relied upon as main source of defence. You could play wround with them as a harassing tool though, also utilising their even more extensive LoS and ability to defend itself, thus spliting up your enemy's forces a little.

    As an alternative, you have acces to fully upgraded hussars, and decent elite skirms. Crossbows are also still plausible in CA, though they will fall behind in Imperial. Same goes with knights. Monks are also an possibility, with open tech tree.

    Vartovkas do not make regular towers obsolete, since they are pretty weak by themselves, with short range and without the possibility of garissoning units. While their low cost might be tempting, the upgrade itself is stone heavy to offset this. You might wanna get the upgrade, if you plan to build lot of them.

    Zeman is meant as a stepping stone between hussar and paladin, with specific anti-archer/gunpowder usage. While cheaper than knight line, they will not reach cavalier level of hp/damage even with elite version (no upgrades).

    Any balance ideas are always welcomed. I dont play much multiplayer, but not like this civ would be played much around MP anyways, if at all. Within the possible future campaign, the maps would probably be made around their strenghts and weaknesses anyways.

    AoE 2 DE Screws my entire pc on startup

    Heyo!

    Whenever I start AoE2 DE, my PC would just go fucking nuts.100% CPU usage, RAM usage skyrocketing. It's odd, It used to work perfectly well, and my pc specs should allow to handle the game like a piece of cake.

    Any ideas?

    Edit: With 'my pc going nuts' I mean, several apps crashing (discord being the prime example), mouse software just stopping working etc

    Edit 2: Fixed it! Closed Photoshop which had around 30 tabs open, eating all virtual memory!

    Just had an arena game what was heading into post imp fight. Playing with Bulgarians I set myself some range reserached chemistry and than surprise. I didn`t get hand cannoners. I have nevr ued hc with bulgarians but was absolutely sure thewy get them. All patch notes and balance changes I have seen were about the konniks, Krepost and bagain tech.

    So since when Bulgarins don`t get Hand cannoneers? Have I missed any other balance changes since DE relesed?

    PS. I even checked to be sure. If you go to https://ageofempires.fandom.com/wiki/Hand_Cannoneer the civ is listed as one of those who get access. Also in Viper civ overview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Azx7PoJTN1k you can see the same. Actually could it be so they had hc in beta and all early info says they got while when DE is out they were stripped of hc just before release?
