| Two criticisms of AoE 3 that I do not understand. Posted: 26 Apr 2020 08:40 AM PDT I've seen a lot of criticisms from (mainly) AoE2 players about this game. I can understand some of the criticisms, such as map size, but two of the most common criticisms make no sense to me. 1. Shipment system: I've heard people say that this makes the game a lot easier. I couldn't disagree more. Yes, shipments help you out a lot with units and eco, but they also help your opponent. Not only do you have to worry about which card to send, but you have to worry about what deck your opponent has and what kind of strategy he's going for. 2. Lack of diversity in civs. Sure Aoe3 has 14 civs compared to AoE2's 30+. But nearly every civ is unique in AoE3. You basically have to play a ton with each civilization to become good at them. In AoE2, you can follow the same build orders for almost every civ and only need to make small adjustments based on the civ bonus. PS: I love both games. I know some people love AoE2 more for a variety of reasons, but if you're going to hate on AoE3, at least use legitimate criticisms. [link] [comments] |
| 2humans vs 6HammerAI and huge defeat Posted: 26 Apr 2020 11:48 PM PDT Hi, my friend and I played a 2vs6 with a 20min treat thinking we could be ready and assault at least two or three of them and then start a simpler 2vs3 or 2vs4 but they beat us up a lot. And finally we quit. what could be a strategy against so many HammerAI? For sure we're not expert, but usually in playing a classical 4vs4 we have not problems at all. [link] [comments] |

| How do you withstand early rushes? (7 mins and below) Posted: 26 Apr 2020 10:09 AM PDT I'm sure you all know that the one who starts attacking first is on the front foot. He has the whole map to himself for hunts and mines. He has multiple forward bases outside your town, maybe even attacking from different directions. My questions: 1. Other than walls and outposts, what else can you do to prevent or get on with a very early rush? 2. How can you always be the first one to rush, or build forward bases and wall your forward bases before the opponent? I play with British in non-treaty games and it takes me until maybe the 5th minute to advance to the second age and around 2-3 mins to spam an army of around 40 longbowmen. But, this is usually around the 8:30 - 9:00 and it sometimes feels late if my opponent is a corporal and above. And when I'm focusing on battle early on, I can't seem to re-direct settlers to new mines/hunts, create settlers or focus on economy, basically. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 26 Apr 2020 04:59 PM PDT If you are playing against China as eu civ and see that the map is called "Sonara" You should resign immediately unless you want to fight against all odds as a challenge. If you resign at the start of your game it wont be counted and you wont lose rank for it. On this map there are no starting hunts next to the tc and the map just lacks hunt in general wich China takes advantage off with their free livestock pen free units from summer palace and free units from the porclein tower. | Posted: 26 Apr 2020 11:26 AM PDT Hi, im wondering what strategy and which civilizations should I use in a Battle royale game, I often play With another 2 players and the strategy that I have been use Is rush With the Ottomans using Janissary + abus gun, but it leave me weak against the other player that I didnt attack, so id liked to know what can I do, and With which civilizations.
