My experience with breaking 1200 DE ELO Posted: 12 Jun 2020 06:30 AM PDT People keep telling me the secret to breaking 1200 ELO is about build orders... In my personal experience in the last months, I've found this to be nonsense. Proper build orders are what you need to break 1125-1150 ELO, but a build order won't do anything against a good player around 1200, because they also use build orders. The thing that has catapulted me past 1200 ELO has been simple: Control Group Micro, especially when rushing. Whether it's making sure your M@A rush doesn't walk into the town centre and keeps harassing, or that your archers split dodge a mangonel, or continuously microing your scouts around spearmen chasing after them.... All the while managing your economy (doesn't have to be perfectly focused, just as long as your TC is working, you're walling, and your vils aren't idle. Then you can break 1200 ELO and play effectively. Perhaps people are different and have different strengths and weaknesses in their gameplay, but this is definitely what I've found lately. I've never really been a competitive RTS player, so this was all very new to me, something that probably comes naturally to people who play Starcraft and similar titles. This has been the only major change in my gameplay, and it's helped me to finally consistently stay above 1200 ELO. Working on my late game eco macro, or honing build orders, or getting unit combos right... I languished in 1130-1180 for ages. Never seemed to have an effect no matter what I did. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 09:11 AM PDT Preface: I understand that what I have written below *may* be insulting, infuriating, or upsetting for some individuals worldwide but what I am asking Microsoft to do is something that *I* feel would help individuals like the ones I describe below from "possibly" being able to play the AoE franchise of games more enjoyable *without* having to tell or reveal to anyone that they suffer from any or all of the conditions stated below. Again, my suggestion is intended solely for personal use and *not* for online play, etc. Please, I ask, continue to be understanding, kind, and compassionate. Also, this post and my desire to speak up for individuals who suffer from ADD, ADHD, and/or Autism is inspired by this brave guy, his GF, and Blizzard's response. Hello. I would like to say, that like (I presume) everyone else in this community I love AoE 1 and 2 in all of its editions, etc. and am thankful for what you do for us. Having said that, I would like to ask that you, Microsoft, accept my challenge: include a game mode in AoE4, (and AoE 1 and 2, or even 3 if you would be so kind) so that people who have certain challenges to overcome that the typical player may not have to can still play and enjoy this game competitively. I am talking about people who have to deal with ADD, ADHD (although they may not have the patience to sit at a PC long enough to game), and Autism. From personal experience, I have seen how difficult these, and all RTS games (i.e., Starcraft 1 and 2, Warcraft 1 - 3, Command and Conquer, etc.) are to play "enjoyably" for individuals who suffer from one of the aforementioned conditions. Microsoft: My suggestions? 01) Please make it a point to research what ADD, ADHD, and Autism are respectively, and how they affect an individual's ability to micromanage, or rather, how difficult it is for them *NOT* to be able to do that (I would say, on average) "as well" as someone who knows how to play the game intelligently and *CAN* micromanage well. 02) Watch a game by someone, or some players who are diagnosed with either of those conditions. This would let you see what I am discussing in "01)." 03) I can only think of one possible change. The major change I would like to see is that you allow for an "'Alternate' or 'Limited AI Micro; Game Mode" where, like aforementioned individuals, the AI is limited to only being able to do "one or two things at a time." T90: I realize that you cannot cast anything by people with these disabilities without proof of condition, and legal verbiage, etc. but you might see this message and therefore be able to pass it along, if you so wish, to the individuals at Microsoft that you are in contact with (I presume you are based on some of the comments you have made in your various streamed games) and then allow them to take it from there. Thank you for reading and I hope I have not insulted anyone along the way of this post. If I have, please forgive me, that has not been the intention. -Ironhammer33 [link] [comments]
Which custom campaigns do you recommend? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:50 AM PDT I'm through with all official campaigns and battles, there is a lot of content available, which extra content did you enjoy most? So far I've only tried the conquest of Norway which I liked a lot. [link] [comments]

How/when do you start building your walls? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:39 PM PDT I'm trying to learn the basic build orders to become a better player, but one thing all the basic guides don't include is how to wall effectively in dark age and early fuedal.
Any additional advise on walls would be appreciated. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Jun 2020 04:29 AM PDT Hi all! Always get great feedback here so I've got another one, I just wanted to get a general idea on when the best time to get loom is, thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:06 AM PDT Hello, I could not find some general thread for discussions and this sub seems way more alive than a year ago when I played last time. Is DE the go to version now? I own HD with all DLCs so rn I have access to that or Voobly. I remember community being split between those 2 and it was harder to find Voobly games with WK. I also see pros playing on DE now. Did AoE2 community increased in size or its just because of quarantine? Is DE playable for team games? Lags, input delay etc. I read mixed stuff about it back when DE was just released. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 04:42 AM PDT These are half serious, fun ideas for sure but not meant to be taken 100% seriously, nor are they meant to be historically based either. Maybe one or two could be added to help them out Here's a list of everything I can think of, enjoy. -Start with extra scout -Siege engineers (might have to adjust artillery) -Sipahi applies to all cav -Gold mines last x% longer -Free camel upgrades -Free cavalier upgrade -Free cav armour upgrades (Free stuff is nice ok) -Camels attack faster -Cavalry get bonus damage vs archers and/or villagers -armour upgrades apply twice to spears and skirms -Sipahi applies to trash -Spearman +1 range (although that's alot like the kamayuk) -Extra pierce armour for cavalry -Onagers Tbh most of these probably don't address the Turks main issues which IMO are their reliance on gold and lack of a good counter to archers. No onager, no skirm, they're forced into hussar or cavalierto counter archers, or sometimes bbc or cav archers. If i had to choose for fun I'd probably give them the double armour upgrades for trash and faster camel attack speed, but realistically, giving them pike and onager would significantly improve them. At most longer lasting gold would be the cherry on top. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:03 AM PDT is it possible to make it so you only have to click "1" once to go to your control group and not just select them? the double tap throws me off. dont see an option for this in options. [link] [comments]
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:34 AM PDT Please select which option best describes you. In other words, are you for or against a map pool system? [link] [comments] |
