Something I made: buildorderguide.com Posted: 11 Jun 2020 05:38 AM PDT Hey Reddit, TL;DR: I built buildorderguide.com to help me learn build orders and make sure I follow them during a game. Maybe it's helpful for you, too! Back in the days (the early 2000s), I was playing a lot of Age of Empires 2. (Good times!) Together with a friend (who introduced me to the game in 1999), I now rediscovered the game (DE) and was instantly hooked by the competitive multiplayer matches. We started playing a couple of months ago and tried to learn everything build orders (and I spent a lot of time with Cicero's PDF, Hera's YouTube, as well as the interactive tutorial by Cicero and ZeroEmpires.) However, I was struggling during games because I often needed a quick reminder of a build or wanted to look up a specific step. Opening YouTube, note pads, or the PDF while playing was not an option; printing out Cicero's PDF helped, but I regularly lost the line and had no time to search for it in a hectic game. I needed a solution to the problem. So long story short, I started to build a build order guide which you can find over at buildorderguide.com. I designed it to help me get a quick overview of the steps in a build at the start of a game as well as have a step walk-through when needed. The walk-through explains every step in more detail and makes sure I'm never lost (focus mode.) I optimized it for mobile since I have my phone in front of my computer when playing, but if you have a second monitor, you can also use it on desktop. Today, it includes all generic builds from Cicero's PDF (& interactive build order mod) and some more advanced builds from Hera. I'll add more in the future, and I'm happy to receive suggestions for builds to add! I'd love to hear if this is useful to someone here. Right now, it's just a simple proof of concept, but I have some ideas on how to make it even more helpful like
Let me know if it's useful for you! I love to hear feedback and suggestions for improvement, as well! And, again, if you have more build orders that you want to see up there, let me know. Happy to add more stuff! [link] [comments]

Dev's reached civ balance goals Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:33 AM PDT I remember seeing a post 6 months ago with the devs saying that if they got all civ win rates within 45% and 55% that would reflect good game balance. I think those are pretty good goal posts as far as these sorts of games go, so its pretty awesome to note that as of today only one civilisation (Portugese) has a win rate lower than 45%, and no Civ's have a win rate above 53% (taking the aggregate of all maps). With so much variation between Civ's this is a pretty good outcome. Obviously some civs are more unbalanced on certain maps, and obviously this is an average across all elo rankings, not pro rankings, so there is still plenty to be desired, but as it stands I think this is pretty good and speaks really well to the balancing efforts undertaking by FE over the last year. Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:25 AM PDT If devs got time for some qol features I would like TAB as is used in other RTS. Basically you can sort and move around your control groups. Would be nice to sort between production buildings, if have control rax and archer in 5 then I can tab and produce both units from a single group. Also handy to micro mangonels attack ground, trebs and guess quality of life to many other stuff, jump to units between the same group as idle worker does etc [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 03:29 AM PDT I just played a game where I couldn't see my herdables or deer. I could see them when they were another player's colour, just not my own or gaia's. I could tell they were there when I discovered them because I'd hear the sound and the green circle below them would highlight but I couldn't even select them. So strange!! Never heard of this happening before. [link] [comments]

IDK if I should buy aoe 2 Definitive Edition ! Please tell me if I should or if I shouldn’t Posted: 11 Jun 2020 12:34 AM PDT I don't know if it's worth it to buy the game. I have aoe 3 and looking at the game the graphics are way better and I love aoe. I have watched a lot of gameplay, before you buy etc. videos. So I want to hear from the players themselves what they think. [link] [comments]

How to defend against an archer+Man at Arms Rush? Posted: 11 Jun 2020 01:01 AM PDT In a lobby arabia game, I was rushed at 12 mins with a combination of 3 archers and 3 man at arms(m@a). I had make shift+ palisade walled but M@a took it down easy and i had a hard time dealing with it, cant quick wall as archers. cant create skirms as M@a will take them down. I had scouts which would be cut down easy by M@a so i counter rushed him, seems he was prepared with spears. How would you guys have reacted? [link] [comments]
Recommended pro series to watch Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:08 AM PDT Hey guys I've just started getting into aoe2 and have found myself enjoying watching professional matches more than I expected. So far I've watched the red bull wololo cup and the NAC3 (I think this is what it was called. Hera vs viper) final and am looking for some recommendations for classic/must see matches. Thanks guys! As recommended by 909hat - critique my game Posted: 10 Jun 2020 08:20 PM PDT Here are some videos of some recent games. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtPujN7CrUcyWNHgLi2k9TQ/ Inviting critiques. Current rating: 1084. 713 games played. Short term goal is to get to 1200 and not go back down. Peak rating is 1154. I bottomed out at 900 a few days ago though. I normally bounce around between 950 and 1050. Yes I suck. Looking on specific areas to improve specific game play details. [link] [comments] |
