- I was curious how the range of a tower works so fired up scenario editor. Also found a bug while testing: if you walk towards the tower you will be in range when stepping on the 8th tile as it should work, however when you are in range and walking away you will be still in range til mid 9th tile.

What's an experience that made you suddenly realize you love a specific civ? Posted: 10 Jul 2020 01:25 AM PDT Basically what I'm asking is if you were ever casually playing the game, random handed you a civ or you decided to try it out after not having given them much attention before, and then you realized you actually love that civ. For me it's Malians. I never really took the pierce armor too serious and didn't see the synergy of their abilities. I always suspected the pierce armor was moreso a nice boost that makes your infantry slightly tankier, but who cares because you'd never send Infantry to fight archers anyways. Totally underestimated them. In Feudal their MaA have 1 less pierce armor than a skirmisher without armor upgrades. For some reason I was also under the impression that archers have bonus damage vs. all Infantry. Spoilers: they don't, it's just vs. spearmen. This means in Feudal, fully upgraded archers do 3 damage against fully upgraded Malian MaA, meaning you need to connect 15 shots to kill one, so 5 shots with three archers. This can be a lot more potent than it may sound on paper since 1) Archers in feudal aren't accurate and easy to juke, and 2) MaA will kill an archer in 5 hits, so a group of 3 MaA just need to swing twice and GG. This combined with the fact that Malians save on wood means you can easily build your first feudal farms without concern and still afford double barracks, then you can shit out an army real quick and apply ridiculous pressure since stopping your push isn't as simple as just making archers. Additionally they get Gold mining for free, so their gold income is nicer and immediately supports the army better. I personally find it absolutely disgusting and have gotten really good results with them. Then by the time you're in Castle/Imperial and this is dwindling down (still amazing but now you need to diversify the army a bit more), you get a nice defensive tech to make all your town centers always work, a tech that makes your cavalry stupidly potent on damage, and a unit that functions like an "assassin" style unit that can be sent to quickly snipe buildings or other key units. Completely flew under the radar for me just cause I wrongly thought they'd get shredded by Archer bonus damage on Infantry anyways (doesn't exist) and didn't realize how potent and easy their Feudal rush is. Is including monks the new meta?! Posted: 10 Jul 2020 12:50 AM PDT Monks have always had their place but I'm seeing them more and more in pro level games now. It feels as though as the pros are getting faster that adding monks into almost any unit composition is a good idea. Even seeing Viper use them for healing quite a few times recently which was generally not a thing not that long ago. It feels as though with match ups getting tighter the difference of a knight conversion or some extra healing during or after an encounter can now make the difference. Previously the time cost to micro them was what held them back but as noted above, with quicker fingers of the pros it seems possible that their inclusion can now be done without being detrimental to the rest of someone's game. In time surely (maybe) things will move further this way. What you guys think? [link] [comments] | ||
Re-join match feature should be added to the game Posted: 10 Jul 2020 04:31 AM PDT What are the chances of this happening? Every other competitive multiplayer game out atm has this sort of feature afaik. If you randomly DC or your game crashes etc you should be given a time limit like 2-5mins to rejoin the game that you were playing. But instead with this game if you DC you auto lose which just seems ridiculous to me. I understand the game is very old but still, I feel like this is a huge problem especially for ranked games. Malays can do something similar in imperial, and they also have elephants. Malians are different though. They have a good economy, they are versatile with cood calvary and champskarles, but the power in imperial doesnt feel that great. I thought of an interesting new feature that could be added to team games Posted: 09 Jul 2020 09:22 PM PDT So I was playing a 2v2 Arabia and my ally was getting goth rushed early so I sent my archers to him (15 of em) forgot about them and kept on fighting my enemy. I thought it would be a good feature to allow you to give control of parts of your army to your ally. Maybe make a new building called an Embassy or something or just make it a new command. I think it keeps the meta the same but adds more depth in team games. Because when were playing he kept pinging me to move/fight, it would have been so much easier to just let him control the army. This happens to me a decent bit as I usually just play 2v2. What do you guys think about this idea? [link] [comments] | ||
