Are they bringing these guys back?!

I know we have a friendly rivalry with the AOE2 community, but they seem pretty excited about the AOE 3 DE. The DE trailer got almost a 1000 upvotes on their sub. Hopefully we get tons of new players in the community.

Developer Interview for AoE 3 DE confirms grid hotkeys, new customisable interface and other things!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:22 AM PDT

The community is fired up after the announcement yesterday. I hope it carries over and we see increased number of player presence online everyday. Less than 1000 players online is disheartening making the future multiplayer (even after DE) look bleak.

Gamesstar Interview Summary (By Andri on Resetera)

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:10 AM PDT

Gamesstar Interview Info Summary written by Andri on Resetera

Game supports Ultrawide Resolutions, they mention you can use 2 4k monitors to achieve 7680x2160.

Units can still fire through walls atm, they could fix it, but they are not sure if such a huge gameplay change should be done. They are open to it if the community asks for it enough.

A-Move is fixed, as well as enhanced AI by the people at Forgotten Empires

New Higher AI Difficulty, where the AI doesnt just cheat to keep up(it still cheats, but said difficulty is higher without more cheating)

Home City Levels to get new better cards unlocked are a thing of the past. All cards are available from the get go(great change imo, i still have some home cities not fully upgraded after hundreds of hours of play) Home City still gets new Decor on level ups though. (singleplayer campaign still has card unlocks as before)

Swedes are the agressive new civ, uses gunpowder and mercenaries.(they say a civ AOE3 fans will feel at home with)

Inka are the defensive new civ, good walls and special fortifications.(they say a civ AOE2 fans will feel at home with)

Sioux and Iroquois are getting overhauled, with help of people from these cultures they changed the civs to represent them better, for example gold is replaced with fur trade(works the same from a gameplay perspective, but they didnt use coins as the europeans did in that timeframe). Story missions for Warchief expansions will also be reworked, with a Native American writer redoing the story so its less of a "natives are the henchmen of the europeans" story.

No new Campaigns, but the historical battles will be used to show stories like the one of Francis Drake.

    First win on expert

After 1 hour being bullied it was very pleasant to do that. I know it's nothing incredible but it took a long time and I'm really proud of myself.

Can we turn off the new UI for the minimap in the bottom left?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:43 PM PDT

The developers seem to be making the new UI be in line with other AoE series. So the minimap is in the bottom right in the new UI. But as a person who has enjoyed RTSs like Starcraft2, Warcraft3, Company of Heroes series, and above all, the original AoE3, I prefer the minimap to be in the bottom left. What do you guys think? I don't think I can easily adapt to the minimap in the bottom right corner.

You should be able to fire through walls, but your opponents can't

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 08:10 PM PDT

I think they should implement a one way shooting through walls. It would he equal to having troops on top of the wall.

Walls should be more than just blocking opponents, but give you an offensive advantage by allowing your troops to shoot through them.

    Natives no longer use gold

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:46 AM PDT

A new stream shows some of the Native civs no longer use gold but rather a fur trading system.

    AoE 3 new player

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 01:07 AM PDT

    hey everyone,

new player here, i dont have any background with the AoE games or any similar games at all, mainly played fps and moba before so this is new and i do not have a massive knowledge pool yet. ive been checking twitch.tv cause i enjoy watching streams for the sake of picking up knowledge from other players, but i never see a lot of streams up, so my question is, is anyone here streaming?

also, where is the best place to get information as a new player? i know how to use google (lol) but i was just wondering if there's maybe a really good page i may be missing or whatever.

thanks so much for your help and patience and sorry if the streaming question for some reason isnt allowed on this sub.

What new home city shipments do you want in DE?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:24 PM PDT

I'd love to see more cards that did 2 different small things. Some ideas:

    • Colonial "2 house wagons + 300 food"
    • Colonial "1 settler + all settlers walk 20% faster"
    • Fortress "1 falconet + 4 musketeers"

    What are your thoughts?

Units firing through walls toggle on/off for AI games at least?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:13 PM PDT

I heard rumors about this feature coming to Age 3. If that's true I hope it's at least a toggle as I know that would be a game changer. I think it would be interesting to see in AI games, as it's always killed my immersion. I don't really play competitively, but for competitive play I understand to not change the game that much. I hope they throw in an AI toggle for it at least. I pretty much stick to AI anyways as I said.

    BISON?!??!?!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:10 AM PDT

    BISON?!??!?!

this game here spawned a meme on my clan

we were playing a 3v3 and when we were exploring we noticed yellows base looked like this... it extended another length of screen down XD. we called out on the chat that yellow was hacking and his teammates both resigned and when he noticed he resigned as well, ending the 3v3 in 6 minutes.

since then the bison portrait has become a discord emoji for us and we have all given ourselves discord nicknames related to buffalo or bison XD
