- Hey guys, saw something weird. As you can see my opponent is in Castle Age. So obviously Stone Walls are 1800 HP. Strangely, the stone wall foundation shows 900 HP. Point to be noted is, he placed the wall just before hitting Castle Age (approximately 95% there).

Thoughts on a new feature - patrol change Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:01 AM PDT I always patrol into fights and next thing I know half my army is attacking a mining camp or my fireships that I patrolled to the enemy fish are attacking a house. I've seen it suggested before and I wish there was a separate button so that patrol only aggros onto enemy units not enemy buildings. Ie patrolling units will ignore buildings and only stop their patrol if enemy units come into LOS. Interested in thoughts on this particularly if there would be negative implications on game balance etc if this were implemented? [link] [comments] | ||

A casual beg to have AoE2 DE on Xbox. Posted: 25 Sep 2020 02:58 PM PDT TL;DR: Microsoft needs to bring the AoE franchise to console now that we have keyboard and mouse support. Reasons For: 1) It would open up the game to thousands of new players. Making the game this accessible would set AoE2 to out-live all of us. (Only exaggerating a little bit as well lol, even then who knows?) 2) Average Joe's like me get a laptop/PC upgrade once every 10 years... As a result my laptop can't handle DE. Whereas my Xbox One X could probably play it 4k/30 or 1080p/60, maybe even 1440p/60? What's the big deal? Well HD is slowly losing popularity. I'm losing the game I loved as a result, because of DE, when there is a capable console that lists the bloody game right in front of me! 3) It would fit into Microsoft's vision of playing anywhere, right? 4) The game is (in my opinion) timeless and one of the best ever made. The game WILL succeed on ANY platform it is released on. Surely! 5) It will bring popularity to the other Age of Empires games. 6) Leading up to the launch of AoE4, you want as many players invested in AoE as possible for the best success! 7) Maybe some wizz-kid from the new player influx will manage to dethrone The Viper? /s 8) It would pave the way for other RTS games to be released on console. It could revive the whole genre on that platform. After years of NOTHING but shitty Halo Wars. Reasons Against: 1) ? Speculation Against: 1) Maybe the CPU in ps4/One can't handle AoE2? Which would mean optimisation. If you wanna see how that looks check it out on PS2. (But with next gen right in front of us this point becomes non existent.) 2) The studio is too small and busy working on AoE4 among supporting 1, 2 and 3? 3) They are worried about the fact people expect it to be a controller game? Even though everyone owns a keyboard and mouse anyway? Quick note on controllers! Obviously players who do not have a keyboard and mouse plugged in WOULD NOT get to play multiplayer! This is to keep a level playing field. Whether they would add controls for controllers or not, keyboard and mouse would need to be pushed as the ultimate method. Controllers are what killed the RTS genre on console. (Well that and EA) The title is indeed "casual beg" so here you go: Please Microsoft. Please. I know you're busy performing colossal buyouts but just please, release this game on console. Get a team to port it. Offer wider mouse support. Dedicate a few thousand out of your billion dollar budget to bring this masterpiece to where it deserves to be: everywhere. I beg you, make this game for Xbox. PS5 too if you have to. I'll forget you ever tried to by TikTok. Please Microsoft, I will send you a check for 1,000,000 if you answer this humble peasants prayers! Join me in supporting this idea, we should at least bring it to Microsoft's attention. Idea: placing waypoints on farms, camps for villagers to pick closer resource to work on Posted: 25 Sep 2020 12:12 PM PDT I remember since I first was learning the game that I attempted such move, and was really surprised that it only works if the building is not yet built. Once the building is up the villagers just walk to it and stay standing there. The idea is that if you put a waypoint to a building resource, like the mill and lumber/gold camps, then the villager will be sent to work on the closer resource of its type to it. I don't think this feature could affect so much the gameplay but it will certainly help those situation were you set to a gold tile only to find later than 10 villagers are fighting each others for space while there are lot more tiles available. Also it will certainly not affect the pros, which can multitask likes gods.. but will benefit those like us, mere mortals :) What do you think, is this something worth to be added to the game? I'd imagine almost all infantry would be swapped for Academy units. Scorpions and onagers might go extinct in favour of the more powerful catapults/ballistae. And the Egyptian priest seems pretty terrifying. Aoe 1 war elephants were also mad iirc. They seemed far tougher and had splash damage compared to aoe 2 persian elephants. Any ideas?
