    Let's say you can add a brand new civilization to the game. Instead of making new civ bonuses and unique techs, you can only pick from existing ones.

    You can pick 3 civ bonuses, 1 castle age and 1 imperial age unique tech, 1 unique unit, 1 team bonus, and 1 tech tree. What is the most overpowered combination you can make?

    -------------------------

    Example:

    Civ bonus 1: (Mongols) Hunters work 40% faster

    Civ bonus 2: (Britons) Shepherds work 25% faster

    Civ bonus 3: (Franks) Foragers work 25% faster

    Castle age tech: (Franks) Chivalry: Stables work 40% faster

    Imperial age tech: (Burmese) Manipur Cavalry: Arambai and cavalry +6 attack vs buildings

    Unique unit: (Huns) Tarkans

    Team bonus: (Huns) Stables work 20% faster

    Tech Tree: Persians

    This civilization can get food incredibly fast in the dark age, which is perfect for either a very fast feudal scout rush or castle knight rush. Their stables work incredibly fast and their cavalry is also better against buildings. The Tarkan is especially insane because it already has a bonus against buildings.

    [DE] Need help extracting sfx

    Hi all! Im trying to extract all of the unit voices in Definitive Edition for a project i'm working on. So far I've followed this thread and managed to extract the contents of SFX.bnk into seperate .ogg files.

    Problem is: they are enumerated (0001, 0002...) and there is 3892 of them. Does anyone know if there is a table available that would help me translate and categorize them?
    The aforementioned thread links to this audio spreadsheet, but it doesn't seem to be accurate.

    I passed 1000 ELO for the first time! I've moved to playing pretty much only CELTS which has been a ton of fun. I thought the vill diff summed up Celts pretty well.

    Why skirmishers feel like bad counters for new/low skilled players vs archer rushes

    So, I have noticed some posts every so often about that skirms feel like bad counters vs archer rushs. They cost more food than archers seems to be the main thing

    After doing some thinking about it, and playing some low difficulty AIs, because I suck, I think I have an answer as to why skirms seem bad (because low difficulty AI can build a few skirms to counter archers, but I generally have at least 5 archers and 2 ranges churning them out when I attack)

    1. Skirms don't hard counter archers so hard that they do anything meaningful for 5 to 1 match up and they probably need to be closer to 1 to 1 than 2 to 1.

    This means if you are building a counter skirm force, you really need to go fairly hard into skirms, if your opponent has 5 archers on you while you may not have an archery range.

    1. You basically buffer the resources to make skirms naturally if you make villagers (as you should), meaning that if you are out econned by your opponent while they are archering you, you can still attempt to resist them with skirms, but only by eating your castle age tuition, which is not sustainable in the long term.

    The archer user might be paying more villager time per archer (65 resources vs 60 resources), but they have planned on it, and are on track to hit castle age when they want.

    1. Getting archer rushed costs you villager time, as you either lose villagers or run them away.

    Even if you had useful villager time parity with your opponent before the archer rush, them archer rushing you probably raided your wood line, costing you wood villager time.

    This limits your abIlity to spam skirms as an effective counter unit, and makes it more likely that instead of fighting fully upgraded fuedal archers, you are attempting to fight fully upgraded crossbowmen. which beat full fuedal skirms in 1 to 1 fights. (crossbows deal 3 damage to 30 hp skirms, while skirms deal 4 damage to 35 hp crossbowmen, but attack 2 times for every 3 crossbow attacks before thumbring.)

    At which point, fielding the right counter unit is not going to be able to overcome the econ, tech, and military advantage your opponent has.

    Offline works good, spectating works good.

    But as soon as I try to play online, the game lags like hell. This wasnt the case a couple of months ago.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Lithuanians vs Vikings on Arena

    On arena I am checking the random tick and lately go with lithuanians as default. And I have experienced this match-up already 3 or 4 times(which means people choose Vikings) and I feel like Vikings are completely helpless vs Lithuanians. I don't think they have anything to offer vs leitis+skirms.

    And it also feels like the Lith player is controlling the game so he can hardly be surprised. I am improvizing a FC build with 24+2/3 vils but with barracks and stable, so my castle age is usually faster but not more than a vil slower in case opponent goes up super quick. I make 3-4 scouts and a monastery and add TCs when I have the res for it. I consider collecting 2 relics as a success and it is usually fairly easy to get them. I am not too good in fighting for relics and managing eco in the same time but still if there is a big micro fight I suppose his eco will not be too far ahead. If he tries to go aggressive in castle age I build a castle and that stops it. I start adding archery ranges and a lot of skirms in late castle age and literally the only thing that kills them are berserkers or siege but investing in that is harder than building a few leitis to deal with them. I mean whatever composition he tries to go is either countered by skirms(arbs/pikes) or by leitis(which in large numbers kill even pikes). So I just invest heavier into that part of my composition and when I finally get to 40-50 skirms and 20-30 leitis and full production going I can't see how that gets countered by Vikings.

    The closest try was a fast imp arbs+ram push but still I managed to hold relatively easy with skirms and a few knights and crushed him when I reached Imp a few mins later but with much better eco in that case.

    Are my opponents and I missing something or is this a clear civ-win?

    Spectating Browser Upgrade

    Hi all,

    I think DE spectating would be vastly improved by adding two simple features:

    1) Ability to sort games by elo

    2) Displaying the players without having to hover over each game

    That would make it so much easier to scout out any given player and to identify games in an elo of your interest.

    Hey! So I've started playing a few months back and i'm still having a hard time finding any groups to play (as I mostly play 2v2 and 3v3). I come from CSGO and there i'd most of the time have a lot of people avaiable to play with and not having a "friendlist" kinda takes some of my will to play. I guess any Disc would be great even though it would be ideal to find any Portuguese (from Portugal, nothing against BR ahah but servers and timetables) ones!

    Lags on age up

    Since the last patch my game lags a few seconds every time a player reaches a new age. Pretty annoying.

    Now I also noticed this: whenever a player clicks up to a new age, I get a very short lag, like 0.5s. This means I know when my opponent clicked up.

    Is this a common bug?

    can you help me find out which ui element might be blocking my cursor to interact with map (like select resources, units etc.) ? It seems like there is some invisible ui element. I've already checked widgets like map, resources and score. Any help and suggestions is welcomed.

    Hey guys, I've recently really been into smush especially on arena. I find it to be a bit of an all in since you're definitely going to be behind in vils, but it's also very satisfying. I'm interested in diversifying my playstyle. I'd love especially to learn more all in plays.

    What other strategies do you enjoy employing in castle age? Would you say they are as powerful as just going smush? And are they even nearly as satisfying as smushing?

    How to counter goth spam?

    Average level player here. I've recently started playing goths and I've been walling up and booming. Seems like once i get to make castle units at barracks there's no stopping the unit spam. Is their a good counter to it? Why doesn't more people play the goth cig, seems op?
