How to disable the warning text when resigning? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 06:09 AM PST The new patch introduced a whole batch of annoying features, such as the clunky interface and these warnings. Can it be disabled somehow? [link] [comments]

Posted: 18 Nov 2020 06:23 AM PST Can people stop hitting Alt F4 when they get a map they don't like. Im sick of waiting in the lobby for 7+ mins and then having the game crash. Thanks all. [link] [comments]
Posted: 18 Nov 2020 02:31 AM PST Hi all, After hours of watching Spirit of the Law and T90 on Youtube, and this weekend finally decided to by myself AOE2 HD (I'm on Mac and Porting Kit doesn't have DE just yet). I've got 30 hours under my belt, confidently beating Moderate computer now (although only with Celts, random civs is a bit harder!). I've also won one online game.... but lost like 4. Anyway, I want to move up to facing the Hard computer and I want to know - how much harder is it to beat than moderate? What do I have to know in terms of standard gameplay (good eco, upgrades etc)? And what do I have to know about the hard computer in particular? E.g., I learned that beating moderate required FC into spamming knights before shifting to Rams & Hussars. Also, any tips or questions are very welcome! OB [link] [comments]
REVIEW: Ranked map pools and matchmaking. Posted: 18 Nov 2020 07:33 AM PST Hi everyone, it's been a while since we are able to play on DE, and most of us are now familiar with the ranked queue system. This idea helped a lot in getting games in a more agile way, and it's in my opinion one of the reasons Age of Empires is growing by the day. However, I have 2 big complaints I think should be addressed as quick as possible.
A rotating map pool is really good for increasing map diversity. However, Arabia is static in every pool rotation, and most players don't dare leaving the dessert. Same goes for Arena, so my question is, since this are 2 of the classic map styles from long ago: why isn't it the same for Nomad, and Islands? Having Arabia, Arena, Nomad and Islands static in every pool (and maybe add an extra map) would be the most diverse posible. You could even switch Islands for Migration for example, Arena for Hideout, or play rotating each map with a map that is played on the same way. (I know Arena is not like Hideout). This leaves me with point number 2:
The ranked queue promotes, or tries to, map diversity and a faster way to start a game. For that purpose, map preference/map bans mechanics were implemented. However, there are people that only want to play Arabia and dodge every time a different map is chosen. What's the point of all the work put into the matchmaking, if it's as simple as ALT+F4'ing if you don't like the map, and just queing again? I think there needs to be some kind of punishment to this behavior, like in most games, force them to wait 5/10 minutes or something like that before they can play the next game so they feel discouraged. I think changes in this would be a great step forward in the right direction for ranked games. Open to discussion, I'd like to hear you guys! Arabia only players can't comment. (kidding :P) TL;DR: Put Arabia, Arena, Nomad and Islands static in ranked map pools, and punish map dodgers. [link] [comments]
