    Experimented with Team games to see what's lagging

    Hello friends,

    Me and my pals play 3v3 every other night and games are very competitive always, we like playing against each other, all of us have been playing this game since 2000's. As you all know, the latest patch kind of broke team games because of lag.

    Yesterday we had a game, 3v3, 6 man Arabia map. When they attacked, it was about 17-18 minute mark and until that moment, the game was running fine.

    Right after they started attacking though, game starts to lag and it gets worse and worse.

    So, we made an experiment. We opened up a game, 3v3, infinite resources and Aegis turned on, my friend and I made 400 karambit warriors, everyone else made 200 of something, archers, elephants etc.

    The game was fine until we started fighting, then it went to shit.

    After the fighting, we deleted all our armies, 0 pop everyone, but the game was still laggy as shit, it didn't change anything.

    So, what I think is, something is going on with the statistics or something, not actual gameplay.

    Until this is fixed, we will not be playing the game, we cannot even if we wanted to.

    Shoutout to devs for trying to balance the game and fix problems.

    Also, if there was a system in the game for drafting civs or drafting maps, it would be cool. Me and my friends like to pull up a random draft system, we play two games when we play aoe, so we do the draft where both sides randomly roll 7 civs, discard one, play the games with the 6 civs selected. It gives flexibility because you can pick a civ, but it forces you to get better with all civs, better than just picking a civ or rolling a random, as you can roll a flank civ as pocket or vice versa, mayans in pocket is no good, neither is lithuanians or franks on flank.

    I hope this team game problem gets fixed soon!

    Needless to say, the current UI is a downgrade. Now it takes more clicks to get to stuff, and it just feels clunky and weird... Please, just please hire someone who knows how to design proper UI.

    Lag after update not just in late game team games

    There is quite a lot of posts recently about the lag in the late game after the update.

    Is anyone else like me getting lag constantly from Dark Age? My PC is more than capable of running AOE on Ultra and my connection on each occasion I have played recently has been perfect. Before the update, I never had lag, even in 4v4 higher pop games.

    1. The game starts to slow down
    2. I get a solid pause/screen freeze for 1 or 2 seconds
    3. The game then catches up almost like it is on fast forward
    4. Back to normal for a little bit and repeat

    This is a nightmare to do a lot of things. I was an archer civ against a guy with one mango... he ruined me.

    Civ/strat discussion

    Hi guys

    So I have been really enjoying the game. Just want to get a bit better/expand on what civs I play and strats. I am only rated like 1100 in 1v1 and 1500 in team games. I mainly play the franks and goths and prefer arena/arabia.

    I struggle to micro well and maintain my eco so I tend to avoid archer/monk civs.

    Usually when I play arena in ranked I will play the franks. Put 1 on stone during dark age and 2 more during feudal and then when I hit castle I have enough for a castle drop. I send a couple units to drop a castle by one of their resource piles (after scouting it). Drop the castle, make 2 petards to break the gate and then rush with 5 knights. If this works I try to drop another castle by their other resource pile outside the gate and try get into imperial as fast as possible to make trebs to try finish them off (not sure what you guys think about this strat?) any input or improvements would be cool.

    When I play arabia I play goths, usually build a forward barracks or two and do a man at arms rush. I have also dabbled with building 20 man at arms with the pierce armor upgrade (if they have walled with buildings I try take out their military building with the man at arms and just go straight for their TC (its pretty meme but it works a lot of the time with people who dont know how to deal with it). If all my shit fails, i just pray i can get into imperial and bring the game back. Struggle to deal with an effective scout rush with this strat though. I do try wall, but I think my BO could do with some tuning.

    I have been looking into playing the bulgarians, feel like their man at arms rush combined with a trush , followed by like a krepost drop or something could be effective (anyone with any build orders or tips?)

    Also I like the look of the burmese, any build orders or strats for them that you guys use that are effective?
