Should I be maxing out my vil pop?

I'm playing ranked 1v1's, I'm currently around rank 1500 after 38 games as Ports. One thing I can't figure out is whether I should stop vil production after around 70 in order to have a larger standing army.

Is this purely an opportunity cost I need to figure out game to game, or is the current meta to go straight to 99 vils and just recycle armies faster?

German Settler Wagons?

So there was someone playing germans today. I know they have stupid powerful units right now, but I did not know they ca build over 130 vils. Is it that settler wagons don't count to the vil pop?

He deleted all but 20 wagons in the end and still had an economy for days!

Can’t use Japan anymore :((

Hello, I was playing some aoe yday and after a normal game Japan just vanished :(( I cant see or pick them anymore. I've tried skirmish, multiplayer, everything. I've restarted etc etc. It's my main and it's like it's been deleted

Has anyone else had this issue, please help

Does Sweden have any cost effective counter against India late game siege elephant + sepoy mass. Calvary dont seem to cut it and jaegers are very expensive
