I just love how the villagers respond with a mixture of euphoria and total disgust to every move you make with them.

Especially if you send them farming. It sounds like the villagers are absolutely hyped to do what you want even though they are absolutely baffled by the stupidity of your commands.

I am intrigued by the language also.

Just wanted to share this with you

The incredibly annoying Alt-F4 in team games

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 07:45 AM PST

Okay, I know I'm not the first one to post this, but I think many of you have experienced " Failed to join match" in Team Games, most times, I thought it's just a connection issue, but recently I found out that some of these people are just Alt-F4 ( Close the app you're using. ) when they get into a map they don't like, such as four lakes or Arena, currently in the map pool. And it's ridiculously annoying. I want to hear you guys whether you encountered this or not, if so, any thing to do about it?

    Single-player Video Game Experience Survey

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 04:40 AM PST

    Hi r/aoe2,

My name is Thor Janson, and I'm a Cognition and Communication Master's student at the University of Copenhagen. I am currently working on a research project as part of my Master's thesis, and this involves conducting a survey that aims to investigate players' single-player video game experience. The moderators of this subreddit have kindly allowed me to post my questionnaire here, and I am very thankful for this. I would likewise be extremely thankful if you could take the time to fill out the questionnaire! It takes roughly 10 minutes to complete.

I hope that as many of you as possible take part in this research, as I would like these results to be as meaningful and applicable as possible. This project is the culmination of my academic career, and I very much look forward to seeing your responses.

Once the survey is closed and the data have been analyzed, I may post the results here if participants indicate that they are interested. I am also available to answer any questions or considerations you might have, so feel free to leave a comment, send me a message, or email me at mwk684@alumni.ku.dk. You are also welcome to recommend this survey to friends or share the link via social media.

You can find the questionnaire here:

    https://www.survey-xact.dk/LinkCollector?key=R1JKQV6PSN91

    Kind regards,

    Thor Janson, University of Copenhagen

    FAQs:

What are the requirements for participating in this research?

Anybody who plays single-player video games is encouraged to participate!

Is the questionnaire focused on a specific single-player game?

No. The questionnaire will ask you to respond to a series of statements based on your experiences playing your favorite single-player game, which you will be asked to supply beforehand. As long as you play single-player video games, you are welcome to participate!

Does the questionnaire require divulging any sensitive personal information?

Apart from gender, ethnic background, and country of residence, the questionnaire does not ask participants to divulge any sensitive information. For the mentioned items, participants may decline to answer. The questionnaire does not ask participants to divulge any other personally identifying information.

What type of questions are on the questionnaire?

Apart from demographic questions, the questionnaire will ask you to respond to a series of statements based on your experience playing your favorite/preferred single-player video game.

Will I get to see the results?

Yes, once data analysis is complete, I may post the results back to this subreddit. If you are interested in seeing the results, please let me know via comment, private message, or email.

Why do you have to wait 24 hours for achievements to unlock?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 12:23 AM PST

I make this post because I just beat the Hard AI for the achievement, and have to wait 24 hours for the Extreme AI achievement to unlock - but the event ends in 15 hours, so I won't be able to get it. Why is this a thing? Between this and the 256x tech cheat being locked behind an unobtainable achievement, I really think they should reassess how they do these.

I suck at spending ressources in Castle age

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 06:41 AM PST

Hi there, I'm playing this game for fun since HD, and now i'd like to improve my level (curently 1200).

My main problem is that I can't manage to use my resources once i reach castle age (dark age / feodal are descent, I often apply early pressure which gives me an advantage at feodal)

Question is : how can I scale up my unit production with my ressource flow ? I try to focus on creating new military buildings but once i'm under pressure / microing a fight I totaly forget. My feodal advantage gives me an army and a flow of resources that I don't know how to use

    Thx for your help :)

Strat discussion Dark Age - Castle Age

    Posted: 09 Mar 2021 06:35 AM PST

    Hello,

I've been picking up the game lately and I must say, it feels so good to play AoE II again. It's a real madeleine de Proust.

But I have a big problem. I really enjoy the game up to end of castle age - early imp. I HATE post imp plays, 80 farms spamm light cav and skirms. I really like microing my archers / knights.

So given this, I'd like to hear about your best strat and civs to to apply as much pressure as possible as early as possible. It doesn't matter if it's hard to pull off, like a drush. I suck but after 500 games I will learn.

Currently I'm working on a mayan flush but I start to think that maybe a scout rush can work too if the map is open.

Thanks bois. And Villese HC4 champ let's go.
