Posted: 20 May 2021 04:27 PM PDT Is nobody else bothered by score in aoe3? tldr; infrastructural buildings should be removed from score calculation entirely in order to improve the accuracy of both economic and military scores. Some civs over-score, some civs under-score, the economic score doesn't indicate the size of a player's economy, and the military score doesn't indicate the size of a player's military. All four of these issues stem primarily from one major problem: the scores include buildings that do not directly provide income or military force. Namely: houses, manor houses, longhouses, villages, markets, community plazas, tribal marketplace, livestock pens, mills, estates, rice paddies, arsenals, capitols, consulates, barracks, stables, saloons, and artillery foundries. These infrastructural buildings are not necessarily providing value at any given time; therefore they do not actually indicate a player's present advantage. For example, say a french player spends the first 5 minutes of the game building 20 houses while their swedish opponent builds 15 torps. Assuming all else equal, their scores will be the same, but the swedish player is actually far ahead of the french player because the french players' houses provide no economic value. The same can be said about any of the above buildings. A player could rush to build 10 of any of these buildings, but since the building itself provides no direct value, the player who builds 10 [stables] by minute 8 is actually far behind his opponent. This should be reflected in the score. Removing these buildings from score calculations would help ease score discrepancies between civilizations. Economic score would actually indicate the value of a players' economic investments, and military score would actually indicate the value of players' militaries. Finally, having a more accurate scoring system would serve to help players improve their play! If you are constantly scoring below your opponent, you might actually be spending too many resources on infrastructure. building 2 stables when you don't need 2 stables is a bad thing! If you accidentally built 2 markets, you are behind. The score should reflect that. [link] [comments]

Posted: 20 May 2021 05:39 PM PDT Guy please help. I am STRUGGLING to beat Japan. If I build Cav and run around trying to destroy shrines, I get rushed. If I try to build up an army and defend, their hand mortars blow everything up. What am I doing wrong? [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 May 2021 05:17 PM PDT I just want to know how to make a scenario where I can test 2 army compositions or unit comparisons. Also how can I make units affected by upgrades or cards? [link] [comments]

Zen Diet for Japanese boom strats Posted: 20 May 2021 06:54 AM PDT I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on the Japanese Zen Diet card? It makes it so that you can produce villagers for a lesser amount of wood instead of food. I've really loved using it in a couple of matches, but none of the "professional" strats I've seen even acknowledge it. Is it actually a trash card? [link] [comments]
Is there anyway to tell if your friends are online? Posted: 20 May 2021 04:52 PM PDT I look at my friends list and don't see any indication colour or what not? [link] [comments]
Any other Historical Scenarios? Posted: 20 May 2021 03:36 AM PDT Greetings! I am a huge fan of these new historical scenarios on AOE3:DE and I was wondering if any of you knows any new scenarios, official or unofficial. I have checked Moddb and forums but nothing in paricular has caught my eye. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
