    Everyone relax about Lithuanians

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 02:05 AM PDT

The Winged Hussar might as well be a worse version of the Hussar and the Poles have unique buffs for them to make them better. We don't know anything yet and it is pointless to discuss possible nerfs.

    That's all, have a nice day :)

Two Campaign Screens instead of Three

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 07:22 AM PDT

So call me OCD, just complaining, or something, but I just don't like the fact that we have a screen for Europe, Western Europe, and soon to be Eastern Europe when Dawn of the Dukes comes out. I think they should get rid of the Europe Campaign Screen, and place campaigns in either the Western or Eastern Europe screens, where they belong. Am I the only one that believes this?

Both the Lithuanians AND the Poles receive the new Winged Hussar instead of the standard hussar.

How do I react to a well-placed defensive castle in a 1 TC push?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 05:27 AM PDT

Because I feel like every game I lose at the moment follows this pattern. I like to be aggressive and I do a load of damage in Feudal and early Castle, they rush up a castle to protect their eco and boom up to Imp, my eco is way behind at this point and I haven't manage a killing blow before the Castle went up (even if I've killed 10 or 15 vils, that's usually balanced out by their boom anyway). If I kill them before their Castle goes up, I win. If they take it to late Castle and Imp, I often lose.

I've tried a few things. I've tried just going round, but usually they're double housewalled, towered, covered elsewhere (or they put up a second and third castle, I feel like half my games end with the opposition having their entire base covered by five castles!), I've tried going for Feudal rams but they're really hard to keep up, especially with repair vils, unless I've got a good pike civ and they don't have infantry. I've tried saying, okay fuck it, I guess I'll go Imp too, but I always hit it way later due to worse eco and then heeeeeeeeere come the trebs.

If the answer is just "don't go 1 TC or get better at winning fast" then...I don't like that answer. I'd rather there was another one before that. But if that's the case, am I undercommitting? Do I want to be diving under TCs more and being more aggressive with forward buildings? I also need to improve my Imp play (I'm not good at manipulating big armies so I tend to lose treb wars and not push effectively) but that's a whole other story.

    Cheers!

This is the Arbalester, but the Wiki also shows other units like the Heavy Cav Archer and so on.

    Nomad Community?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 08:13 AM PDT

Does anyone know if there are any communities out there that focus on playing Nomad and the other Nomad-style maps (Mountain Pass, African Clearing, etc.)? These type of maps have recently become some of my favorites and I wanted to find people to play with/learn from.

Villagers auto aggro to elephants/rhinos when attacked

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 08:12 AM PDT

    Hello everyone,

For some reason my vils turn back start fighting elephants and rhinos AFTER I right click them back to the TC when luring boar. Strangely this does not happen with boars, but with elephants and rhinos. I've just lost 2 vils and resigned at 5 mins in a ranked game because of that. One of the vils shot the rhino once, I clicked her back to safety, she turned back and started fighting when rhino attacked her, I right clicked to save her again, and she AGAIN turned back and started fighting the rhino when rhino hit her again. It's really annoying when your units don't listen to your commands. I know this has been in the game for a while now but it felt like the chances of it happening increased in the last patch. Also, am I the only one who encounters this more often with rhinos/elephants compared to the regular boars? I'm not an expert and my APM isn't that high either, I just want to click my vils back to the safety and continue with the build order before forgetting where will the next vil go.

    New trailer released for DotD!

Devs, can you please change the Bohemian Architecture to Central European before the release of Dawn of Dukes?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 11:33 AM PDT

Devs, can you please change the Bohemian Architecture to Central European before the release of Dawn of Dukes?

    Arguments to change:
    - there's more civs with Eastern European architecture already
    - it's historically more accurate (Bohemians have more in common with Germans and it's sensitive when associated with the east)
    - orthodox churches in Bohemia doesn't make sense
    - please

    Arguments against:
    - campaign with Teutons -> same building style

All in all, I think many of us would much rather suffer through 1 campaign than suffer for the eternity of multiplayer. I know mods can solve everything, but why complicate matters when you fellow developers can simply make things right with one click.

Please, save us Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope.

Is it me or for a "camel civilization", Indian camels aren't that special?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 03:21 PM PDT

you ever pick All Random, get a matchup like Indians versus Berbers on Arabia and tell yourself "I am sure to win thanks to my superior camels" then as the game progresses you realize: "Are my camels even better than Berber camels? Are they even better than generic camels?"? let's look at their bonuses. as opposed to generic FU camels, in castle age Indian camels get:

    • +1P armor
    • +4 damage v. buildings

    and in imperial age (stacking):

    • +1P armor (but missing plate beards, so overall same P armor and -1 melee armor)
    • +20 hp, + 2 attack with Imperial Camel

so they end up about the same (slightly worse against melee units) than generic FU camels unless they pay for an upgrade that's almost as expensive as paladins. in comparison, other civ bonuses include:

    • Berbers: 15 % cheaper in castle age, 20% cheaper in imp, regenerate HP with unique tech.
    • Malians: +5 attack with unique tech (but missing blast furnace)
    • Saracens: +10 HP, +20 HP with unique tech (30 total)

all of that is on top of the fact that camels are overall weaker and less versatile than knights. What do you think of the balance of camels, especially Indian camels? fine, or needs buff / nerf / rework? I think the camel is doomed to be somewhat imbalanced because of team games, in which its natural predator, the humble spear man, is not viable, but I'd prefer they prioritize 1v1 balance.
