    So I'm loving the new dlc and Ethiopia is pretty sweet, I was messing around on Andes to test the new civs so I could choke piont the enemy and holy balls. These guys are insane! The fact that it's a gatling gun you can make stand ground is brilliant using them to support allies is just love then adding the mortars they get and nothing can touch you behind good walls

    Hausa Griots Explained

    So, there's been a lot of confusion around the new Hausa Griot, which is a hybrid healer/support unit. I'll try to break down their functionality and clear things up a bit.

    1). Speed Aura

    Griots have a 5% speed aura that affect units in a 32 range, similar to the Lakota Warchief aura. This doesn't stack with itself, but a second Griot will increase the speed of the first one.

    2). Noise Attack

    The coding for this is a bit weird. From what I've gathered, the trumpet attack works like a channel, where the griot will slowly sap away at a unit's health (their empower attack has a -1.0 HealRate) and double their attack delay (so for a falconet, it becomes 4 --> 8, Skull Knight 1.5 --> 3.0, etc). Curiously, their noise attack seems to apply a DOT as well, which functions much like the Jungle Bowman (but it lasts 2.95s instead of 4.10). It's a bit difficult to see how this interacts with the negative heal rate while channeling, but it does apply after the Griot finishes attacking (if the unit walks out of their range).

    I still need to do more testing on this front.

    3). Empower Ability

    Empower is a weird ability. It activates certain abilities based on what unit a Griot is tasked to. They are as follows:

    -- Town Center: Build Rate 1.75x, Building Work Rate 1.1x

    -- Docks/Ports: Build Rate 1.75x, Economic Unit Train Rate 1.1x, Military Train Rate 1.3x, Tech Research Rate 1.5x

    -- Building: Build Rate 1.75x, Building Work Rate 1.5x

    -- Player Owned Mine (from a prospector wagon): Villager Gather Rate 1.1x

    -- Nature Owned Mine (on the map by default): Villager Gather Rate 1.1x, Mine Yield Rate 1.25x

    4). Instrument Behavior

    From what I can tell, there's no functional difference between any of the stances the Griot has. It just adjusts their animations and sounds to play that instrument. In their tactics file, each action has access to empowerment, then noise attack, then their melee attack, their speed aura, treasure pickup, and healing. They will use the trumpet to attack enemies and their drums to buff mines and Town Centers regardless of stance.

    Just posting to bump the issue up higher. I can't start a ranked game with my buddy due to the new screen showing your ranked stats. Accepting invites does not ring us into the same game.

    [Bug] Griot Mine Bug

    Hey, I noticed a small inconsistency with the Griots, which is probably just an oversight.

    You can task them to normal mines on the map, and they'll do a dance/give it a circle, and the game makes it clear that they're improving work rates for that mine. That's cool and good.

    But if you task them to a mine that you built, such as the Berber salt mine or Akan gold mine, they'll play their drum and give it the same bonus as they would a building. So, I think that they've been accidentally told to think of placed mines as "buildings", and is inconsistent.

    Anyone else having the XP bug issue? where the xp shown for kills does not appear whatsoever? It has been a persistant pain in my ass since the launch of DE but normally resetting the UI options or restarting the game fixes it for a game or 2 before it bugs out again, but ever since the launch of African royals i have not seen any XP whatsoever no matter what i do to reset the bloody thing

    How to defeat japan dude like seriously I only play with India and I am rage quitting everytime I play against japan like their ashi mass are clearing my Gurkha mass. If I can't even counter ashi with their counter unit how the hell i am supposed to play against them. No matter how quickly i age up they somehow manage to mass ashi and yumi and If I somehow manage to save my self(that happens very rarely) then they come up with their flaming arrows. I think japanese civ should not be in the game or else I should not play this game. I feel like wrecking my laptop dude.
