Does anyone else feel like AoE2 feels like a completely different game than to when they were a kid? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 12:38 AM PDT I feel like revisiting and really getting into the game when I got older and learning actual strategies and how to play the game "the correct" or meta way has made AoE feel almost like an entirely different game. Not a bad thing just something cool I've noticed about the game. It's so cool how a game can be played in so many different ways and still be fun. [link] [comments]

is there any mod for unattended farms? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:21 AM PDT there are mods for idle villagers... but what about idle farms? sometimes is difficult to know if a farm is being collected or not in late game... [link] [comments]
polish: one farm between two folwarks... double food collected? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:23 AM PDT title. Can a farm be "sucked" by more than one folwark? [link] [comments]

Add Green Arabia to the ranked ladder map pool Posted: 16 Aug 2021 01:11 PM PDT With the recent update to Arabia map generation giving players even less woodlines to help wall their bases. Arabia has become a completely different beast than the one we got when AoE2 DE launched. When AoE2 launched it was far easier to wall and many players complained that the meta was only walls-into-archers and walls-into-FC. While I welcome the evolution of DE arabia into a "true open" map. I do feel like there is now a lack of "medium-open" maps. The AoE2 ladder only has so many "normal" (non-gimicky) map-slots that more casual players feel familiar with. Right now it feels like if you want to play a popular map with low queue times your options are either completely with full on early aggression on Arabia, or closed off maps like Arena. I strongly feel that a greener Arabia, with more plentiful woodlines, in which walling your base is easier but there are still ample possible angles of attack. A map in which games are decided in castle rather than ended in feudal. Would be a welcome addition to the map pool. I don't wish to revert Arabia back to a more wallable map. But I feel like a medium-open alternative is currently lacking in the map selection [link] [comments]

Sicilians = Naval + Cavalry civ? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:01 AM PDT Considering how cavaliers take less bonus damage from halbs, with free transport upon Dock completion I find it more fitting for Sicilians to be a cavalry civ. I find myself not very interested in the Donjons, although I still make serjeants. Still, opinions are subjective, and everyone has different views. What say you? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:43 AM PDT seems like another tough match up for celts, similar to celts v vikings, where the odds are stacked in favour of the enemy due to UU + eco? (this time im the pole player) i dont see how they can counter obuchs efficiently..? like either an imbalanced skill match up? or get lucky in the early game into pike + siege and rely on better micro? even xbows take 27 hits to bring them down, and at only 55f 20g, it seems more than cost effective to simply run obuchs + siege(if any) [link] [comments]
What is the most fun strategy to play? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 03:18 AM PDT What is the thing that you say yes everyone should try this? I think for myself it has to be the quadruple archery rush all in with cumans now. Or the siege hop with Sicilians [link] [comments]

How to get consistency in decision making? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 05:54 AM PDT I think this is the biggest challenge to climbing the ladder in ranked games. My decision making tends to vary a lot from game to game. Sometimes I make all the right decisions and steamroll the opponent, then at other times I make decisions that in retrospect make no sense…but at the time I thought we're clever. For example today, I did a m@a rush, executed the build order with real style…but decided to push deer so I could get my ranges up early. I neglected to scout the enemy base as a result, didn't identify the completely exposed wood line and instead had combat with the opponents 4 scouts. Lost my army and he took map control. I mean…there's trade offs all the time, and it seemed like my execution of the build order was solid…but man, why did I decide to push deer instead of scout properly? It also varies day to day. Some days, I'll win 3 in a row with great decision making and the next day it sucks and I lose 3 in a row 😂 any ideas on maintaining consistency here? Note: I found that caffeine helps, I'm more alert and ready. [link] [comments]
Is the Sforza-Campaign (or the AI) buggy or is the campaign just mislabeled as 3-swords-campaign? Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:37 AM PDT Hey fellow AoE2 players, today i finished the Sforza-campaign on hard and i wonder if the campaign or the AI in general is buggy or is the Sforza-Campaign just mislabeled as 3-swords? Because i had little to no problem doing it, it was very easy, especially comparing to the Bayinnaung and Le Loi campaigns which i did previously [link] [comments]
