I see this almost every time a teammate gets rushed in a team game. Enemy has a larger army than we have at the moment, so if the enemy shows up with a large army and we don't immediately repel their attack, they just surrender. It doesn't matter if their teammates are ahead in economy and getting ready for a counter attack, or if there's a window to safely run vills. They just love to surrender.

This isn't like AOE4 where losing all your landmarks is an instant loss. In AOE3 you can literally just run your villagers to a teammate and rebuild. Often they will even send you wood to help you get going again. I've won games where I was down to a few villagers, ran them to my teammate, and rebuilt while they held. It's never over.

I've legit won 2v3's and 3v4's after teammates ragequit during a rush that took us time to repel. People vastly overestimate the impact a rush has. Quite often, a team that focuses 100% on eco and then builds an army reactively can outperform a 100% all in rush. It sucks for the 1 player that gets rushed, but even if that player is out of the game for 10 minutes while they rebuild, the team that's defending generally has the upper hand.

The other day, I played a 3v3 where I was rushing alone. Me and 1 enemy were 1v1ing, and I completely wiped out that guy and was in the process of wiping the 2nd. My 2 teammates were slightly behind in defending a rush on their end, and just surrendered the moment things looked slightly bad for them.

They were raging that I wasn't helping, and expected me to stop wiping the enemy to run my units for 2 minutes across the map into units that counter mine. It didn't matter that I was wiping out the enemy's vills, kancha houses, town centers, and shrines. The fact that they lost a couple forward barracks meant it was GG.

I proceeded to nearly 1v3 after they surrendered, only narrowly losing. If my teamates were replaced with easy mode bots after they surrendered, I probably would've won, that's how close it was.

When should I make skirmishers as germany?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2021 03:03 AM PDT

    Hi,

I'm new to ranked supremacy 1V1 (low ELO) and i'm maining germany.

My usual strategy is to ff and build a mix of falconets, war wagons and some uhlans. The falconets obliterate the ennemy infantry while the war wagons protect them from the ennemy cavalry and culverines. The uhlans serve as a reserve and a distraction. I know that as a german I should include skirmishers in my build but I've no idea why. The culverines are arguably as good to kill infantry (probably less damage but much more range so I can force the ennemy to attack my WW frontline) and can also be used as siege weapons. WW are maybe less effective against infantry but they're not bad at all against them, with all the hp upgrades they're so tanky they survive being targeted by museteers so I can just send them to the hospital and minimize losses.
