SOS Pantanal Charity Event October 14, 14 GMT

Full post: SOS Pantanal Charity Event (2v2) | AoEZone - The international Age Of Empires community

The Pantanal is the largest continental wetland in the world, located in Brazil, portions of Bolivia and Paraguay. It is home to immense biodiversity. However, it faces many environmental problems partly thanks to human influence: deforestation, degradation of land, increased soil erosion, and water resources contamination. These are coupled with cattle breeding for beef production and over-fishing.

I visited the area for a week in 2014, and while problems already existed, I still had the pleasure to enjoy wide, undisturbed and peaceful nature.

Now the region as a whole and, in particular, the floodplain is facing its worst crisis in decades. Under the 2020 severe drought, the biome has been suffering from human-made fires and has had about 26 % of its area affected by flames - and is still burning as of today, with little information reaching international news.

Therefore marciocolombia and I will host a charity event to raise money for the NGO SOS Pantanal, who are involved in fighting the fires and protecting and restoring the Pantanal.

4 teams will play on October 14, starting at 14 GMT, to spread and support our approach:

    miguel + bruh

    F1Re + GoKu

    Capoch + DauT

    Nili + JorDan + TaToH

*players have confirmed, but teams might still slightly change if availability changes.

The event is completely open to streaming, if you spend time before and between games to talk about the issue and link both SOS Pantanal's home page and the donation links.

Oba the Greattt has already confirmed to stream the event in Portuguese.

Nova will cast the event in English.Participating players will stream their POV.

    Dark Age Scout Fights

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:47 AM PDT

Is there any trick to winning 1v1 dark age scout fights on level terrain?

The number of times I have lost these recently makes me think that there may be a trick I do not know.

Does anyone know what happened to BlinG?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:31 AM PDT

He's an ex Starcraft 2 pro that came out of nowhere and made it to top ~30 in terms of ELO for about 3 months this year and started streaming pretty consistently. It looks like his account was deleted (or he changed his name) and he hasn't been on Twitch or Twitter in a couple months.

ANyone willing to help me reviewing my replay? Thanks if so.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 02:43 AM PDT

This is the link to the aoe2record file (hopefully that works).

I was playing against hard AI, I've been playing for... two weeks now so bear with me, please, still very much a noob.

So, I tried to go for a militia rush into archers but I think I screwed up my first attack and the AI just completely destroyed me after that. I always get lost at the moment I get attacked and try to transition into different units, seems super hard to me honestly. My friend did a much better job attacking the AI, still somehow losing economy.

Anything helps, thanks if you can.

The queuing punishing feature is ridiculous and this bug should be removed or fixed ASAP. I swear I didn’t quit at all and have been online waiting for a game while surfing the net. Perfect, now a 59 min ban.

How is Arbalester stop micro fire rate calculated?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:32 AM PDT

I was thinking about DPS calculations before and realized I'm not 100% sure how fire rate for units like arbs are calculated when factoring stop micro and fire rate upgrades.

My assumption, is that for none microed firing, the calculation for the time between 1st and 2nd shot (so as to ignore attack delay for now), is:

Attack speed 2.0 (ingame seconds per shot), divided by 1.18 (thumbring attacks 18% faster), to give 1.695 Rate of Fire.

Is this the correct way to calculate the new Rate of Fire? I remember there was a discrepancy that SotL pointed out with the Japanse Infantry actually attacking 33% faster, instead of the 25% faster originally listed in the tech tree. I understand this comes down to how you define attack speed. One is the inverse with respect to time, such that decreasing the rate of fire number (as stated in tech tree), actually increases the attack speed of the unit.

The following question is how attack delay factors in with stop micro? If we ignore thumbring for now and say your arb has a rate of fire of 2.0. With no micro, it fire every 2 seconds, but with stop micro and the arbs 0.35 attack delay, is your maximum attack speed with stop micro 2.35? or can the attack animation trigger after 1.65 in game seconds, such that you can still achieve an attack every 2.0 seconds if you were to time it perfectly?

One final bonus question, Does the Ethiopian +18% attack speed for archers stack with thumbring additively (+36%), or does it compound (39.2%)?

Over 200 games and just discovered Conscription tech

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 10:25 AM PDT

Hi everyone, just wanted to share this sad story with you all.

I'm at the 225th game, hover around 1000 elo, been playing for several months. My win rate is pretty much 50/50, I'm not good, but I kinda know the meta and enjoy Hera and Viper's streams sometimes.

I've just found out about Conscription technology. I've never ever used it in any ranked match I played. I simply ignored this tech, I never payed any attention to it, thinking it was useless, without knowing what it did.

Reading it's description, seems this is some must tech to research, as soon as you get a castle up.

I didn't play any matches since I found out, I will surely try it out ASAP.

Is this a major fuck up? Hope I'll read similar stories in the comments.

    Cheers.

I couldn't find a post that talked about this cup, so here I do.

I loved it! I really liked the maps too, especially the ones with blind and lame monks, it makes it more entertaining to see the dark age.

    Any thoughts?

Are mamalukes a good answer to Cavalry archers?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 08:10 AM PDT

I got surprised by them in a game where I was playing magyars, and was using cavalry archers against a saracen player who was initially going cav archers.

They did surprisingly well, as they were quicker and tankier than I remembered.

So my question here is, are mamalukes a good option against cav archers, or do they become irrelevant once you have enough mass?

PS: I'm very aware of the bonus damage they do against cavalry archers, I just felt that their price tag made them weaker than say heavy camel against cav archers.

    Signs of Smurfing

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 07:14 AM PDT

Hey guys, i just played a 3v3 on arena with my friends and we took out one of the opponents early (cuman ram push with archer support). What looked like an early win, took an 180 degree turn. One of the other guys completely wrecked us afterwards with an awesome play & i just wanted to know from you guys, if this was legit and something you would expect from someone that elo.

I know, not everyone who beats you is a smurf and since i don't even know what are signs of smurfing, i wanted to ask if someone could check his profile and tell me if everything's fine.

    Thanks in advance!

Italians vs Franks, please help me understand this matchup.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2021 01:23 AM PDT

Italians seem on paper as a hardcounter for Franks.

The genoese crossbowmen in masses should counter anything the franks can produce.

    Paladins get decimated.

    Frank skirms are useless.

And Onagers get converted from a huge distance.

On paper this seems like one of the hardet matchups for the franks.

    https://aoestats.io/civ/Italians/RM_1v1/1250-1650

Italians have a winrate of 35%.

    How and why?

This even includes water maps which would boost their winrate.

If I increase the elo to 1650+ the italians have a winrate of 25% vs franks.

Is it just knights in early castle?
