    Just played a 4v4 game, 2400 elo. All of my villagers suddenly started moving to the same place, 3 times during the game. That was the same for my allies. Obviously, this has not affected ennemies vils.

    I mean, it's the only archer-line tech they are missing. They still have better arbalests than Aztecs and Sicilians (missing ring archer armor), and same techs as Bohemians, and Khmer, for example. They still have their amazing eco, and now very good infantry. Seems almost like a boost rather than a nerf.

    Interesting match between ACCM and fish. I see that he masses Camels to fight against CA and seems to do well. In general is camels a preferred choice than knights to fight against the CA despite their lower piece armor?

    Me and my mate played a lot of AoE II HD Edition during undergrad. He moved to Sweden for a PhD, I stayed in the UK. We still caught up and played occasionally the last couple of years. On Wednesday he had his final viva and passed. You're some man, Dr B.

    Starting to hate the game allot.

    So I really never played anything beyond AOE 1 and a bit of multiplayer of AOE 2 so I decided Im gonna play the camping of AOE 2. No im not playing the new edition becuse it´s to demanding for my shitty laptop so im playing the original gold edition I mange to get.

    And F-ing hell I know im not good at RTS but im decent enough to beat all C&C games and first AOE game on normal. But aoe 2 I have to play at easiest and it´s still hard. I manage to kill blue AI but then Orange, Yellow and red all 3 team up and just mascaraed any amry I manage to get on

    I did manage to get the artefact that the game told me about and no where did the game tell me I also need to kill ALL 4 AI which is pure bullshit.

    I never hated a game this much on how stupid unfair it is im giving up a cheated on that missions after faling like 5 times a day for 3 days now. becuse to heck with it and to hell on how ever made it.

    Man what´s with old RTS and be stupidly unbalanced where easy is like nightmare.

    Just a thought experiment: what would happen if longswords got +1 cav bonus? (2 handed gets +2 and champions get +3). It's definitely not going to replace the spear line as anti cav trash unit, but might make the heavy infantry line a bit more competitive against knight in castle age.

    Why were Steppe Lancers imbalanced when they were first released but Kamayuks were not?

    The reasons why Steppe Lancers were broken upon DE release was because of

    1. Their 1 range, which allowed steppe lancers to attack from behind other steppe lancers
    2. Their small collision size, which enabled them to stack more heavily than other cavalry

    Well Kamayuks share both these traits. They also have 1 range, and they can stack just as well as Steppe Lancers can because infantry stack better than Cavalry. They also defeated Steppe Lancers in equal numbers (they cost the same too) because Steppe Lancers' 1 range advantage is gone against Kamayuks. Yes its true that theory =/= practice but practically both units crush their supposed counters in large numbers. Steppe Lancers can beat Paladins, Camels and Halberdiers cost effectively as shown in early DE games. Well here is how Kamayuks perform against Champions and Paladins.

    They also have good pierce armor and move faster than Champions, so they aren't weak to archers either. Only hand cannoneers, which are an Imperial Age unit.

    So what made Steppe Lancers more broken?

    Is it because they are built from the Stables while Kamayuks needed a castle?

    Is it because they had faster movement speed?

    Is it because the civs that had Steppe Lancers were inherently strong, while Incas were mediocre?

    Don't reset your hotkeys | Every preset is Classic Layout

    When resetting hotkeys yesterday, i found out that there is currently no way to reset to the standard DE grid layout. It looks like you always get the Classic version hotkeys (B for Barracks, etc..).

    Fortunately I still had an older preset of the grid layout saved.
