Posted: 05 Dec 2021 08:05 PM PST Just wanted to say thank you to the devs for their brilliant work with the new Mexico civ. Really creative and far exceeds anything aoe3 has seen yet. Of course there are some balance issues that will need tweaking, but that's to be expected, when you take creative risks to make such an interesting civ. Also the amount of Mexican history they managed to reference is impressive and true to what makes the aoe franchise unique in RTS games. Here are a few things in the Mexico civ I particularly like: - Age 2 and 3 revolts and returns to Mexico just add a whole new dimension of strategic options; playing Mexico feels like playing 3 civs at the same time - There are maybe 3-5 times the number of card options compared to other civs when you include the revolt decks - The revolts all have very different flavours that together gives a diverse portrayal of Mexican history. E.g. you can revolt to Baja California and play like William Walker and his exploitative filibusters, or revolt to Yucatan republic to then revolt FROM a revolt to become the native Maya uprising, build temple forts, and create a jungle in your base! Compared to a legacy civ like Spain where you basically just FF every game, with Mexico there are so many more options. There will be new build orders for months. If there are going to be more civs in the future, I totally support more revolutionary civs like USA and Mexico. Perhaps Brazil should be next. Feel free to share what you like about the civ as well, or the latest crazy build order you've devised with the revolts or other new mechanic. [link] [comments]
The México flag is bothering me a bit... Posted: 05 Dec 2021 04:38 PM PST It is a very small thing compared to the rest of the amazing content the civ has, but it really irrationally irks me. Don't get me wrong, I am a sucker for the early Trigarante flag and I'm not asking for the common Golden Eagle version, but the Trigarante flag in game is different to the original as the red and green are switched and it all just feels a bit off. Comparison: Apart from that, I love what the Devs did with my country and what they are doing with the game in general... but it would be nice if they corrected the flag lol. [link] [comments]
Ideas for challenges if/when they add a Canada civ Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:37 PM PST Seeing as Canada is a pseudo-civ in one of the historic battles, this makes me wonder if the devs will add it eventually (honestly I hope not, we weren't born of revolution like the US and Mexico were, and we only have 10 provinces and 3 territories, US and MX use 20 for their federal states...maybe it could be like the African alliances if they do add Canada, IDK) But if for some reason they do, here are my ideas for the corresponding state/province challenges, in order of confederation NEW BRUNSWICK - Play one game as the French, and one as the British (New Brunswick is the only Canadian province that is officially bilingual) NOVA SCOTIA - Make 10 fishing ships in one game (NS is known for its fishing history, and the clipper Bluenose is on the Canadian 10 cent coin.) ONTARIO - Ally with the Huron on the Great Lakes map and defeat the Haudenosaunee (Southern Ontario was the homeland of the Huron/Wyandot Confederacy, longtime rivals of the Haudenosaunee) QUEBEC - Win a game as the French (Quebec is home to the majority of Canada's Francophone population) MANITOBA - Revolt to Canada and defeat the British (Manitoba was the site of the Red River Rebellion, when Louis Riel organised Metis and Indigenous peoples to revolt against the Canadian government) NORTHWEST TERRITORIES - Ally with four native settlements on one map (Indigenous people are a majority in the NWT, comprising over 50% of the population, and the territory has 11 official languages, 9 of which are indigenous.) BRITISH COLUMBIA - Win a game as the Russians on Northwest Territory map (Parts of BC were under Russian control) PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND - Build four mills in one game (PEI is known for its agriculture, especially its potatoes) YUKON - Gather 1896 gold in one game on the Yukon map. (The Klondike gold rush began in 1896 and sparked a population boom in the Yukon) ALBERTA - Own 30 cows at once in one game (Alberta is well known for its rodeo and cowboy culture) SASKATCHEWAN - Collect 6000 food in one game (Saskatchewan is Canada's bread basket) NEWFOUNDLAND & LABRADOR - Get to the Imperial Age as British (Newfoundland & Labrador were part of the UK until 1949, when they joined Canada in a close vote) NUNAVUT - Win a game on the Arctic Territories map while never exceeding 40 population (Nunavut is Canada's largest and most sparsely populated territory; it has less than 40,000 people) [link] [comments]
Haven't tried them in multiplayer yet but the Mexico Baja California rush seems insanely strong. Posted: 05 Dec 2021 08:02 PM PST I played a few practice games against the AI to learn the civ and Baja California seems really strong. You get 6 villagers and a factory, a powerful gold bonus, plus 2 trade post/outpost and a military wagons. to supplement your economy while your villagers transform into a good revolution unit for age 2 as they can still build and are decent at killing age 2 units. You also get to spam the crap out of mercs because of the early game factory. I found the filibusters however have lacklustre building damage so you want to wall up against Mexico. While the Mexican players wants to raid your eco before the walls can go up so they have the eco lead going into the merc spam. [link] [comments]

How do I beat the Battle of Queenstown Heights on hard? Posted: 05 Dec 2021 05:57 PM PST I'm trying to beat this new historical battle but the enemy sends an overwhelming amount of guys at me every time almost immediately, with miniguns just shredding my guys. Spamming a ton of infantry doesn't work, there's just too many of them. I've beaten every other historical battle on hard but this one is a nightmare for me. I played through on normal and it was fairly easy. Any help appreciated! [link] [comments]
mexico california revolt age 4 bug? Posted: 05 Dec 2021 03:20 PM PST I just revolted to california in age 4, I had 2 factories. somehow I couldn't send the "california robber barons" card that gives you a factory and increases their build limit by 1. It said i was already at the build limit for that card. This ofcourse is not possible since the card itself increases the build limit by one. I went with the california revolt because i wanted the additional haciendas and the additional factory :P did anyone else also experience this? [link] [comments]
