| Posted: 05 Dec 2021 06:20 AM PST So I just bought AOE3DE from the steam sale and I've been playing the first campaign (kind of terrible storyline imo). On a couple occasions my game stalled then crashed completely, taking me to my desktop. When I first installed the game gave me a cpu test and said I can play on very high settings. Has anyone experienced this problem as well, and what fixes can you suggest? [link] [comments] | ||

I noticed that there're new age games ( III and IV ). I've decided to buy 3 since its cheaper on steam than 4. Now the question is : should I get the DE or the original one ? I honestly dont care about the added civs or improved graphics, I just want it to run smooth and have a good time. I've read that age 3 had some bugs and issues but that was years ago. Watch historical figures being in the game (such as Miguel Hidalgo, Benito Juárez, even Morelos is there) is so mindblowing. But, here is the part that grinds my gears. There's an important figure that I cannot find within the new civ. México would have not be what it is without him. México civ is missing the most famous historical figure of the real México. So, where is Masiosare? I mean, maybe he's not a hero itself, he's more of an enemy. A strange enemy. Stranger than things. If you ask any Mexican they'll you, they're going to tell you he's the strangest of all. He's going to be added on an update, right? Right? [link] [comments] | ||

When I play on hardest the AI start training premature culverins vs my falconets, they start kiting my units like crazy, go for raids and strong pushes... it's actually a lot HARDER WTF I know the have been tweaking stuff in the last patches but goddamn what are they planning on making the next AI ROBOT.. next thing you know the ai is going to open up a custom lobby after destorying me and invite me to it [link] [comments] | ||

I think I once Heard that some people doesn't want to go to AoE 4 just yet because of the 200 Population Limit, and AoE 2 HD have 500 Population Limit. While Balancing a 300-500 Population Option isn't easy, 200 Pop should always be used for ranked play, while 300-500 Pop is much more for Casuals and AI Stomping. [link] [comments] | ||

| AoE3DE - Game isn't saving settings Posted: 04 Dec 2021 07:41 AM PST Hey there! I got Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition on this sale, and while the game runs fine, I can't save my settings, hotkeys, decks, or home city level progress. I run this game on Ubuntu using Steam Play, and when I use the latest version of Proton (Experimental), the settings and hotkeys are reset when I exit the game, any change to decks is reset when I exit the Home City screen, and after each game my Home City stays at level 1. I can downgrade to Proton 5.13-6 and fix this problem, but then I can't play in multiplayer anymore. I found then a workaround, where I can just downgrade to Proton 5.13-6, change the deck or configurations, and go back to Proton Experimental to play multiplayer with the changes I made (the configurations are kept when changing from Proton 5.13-6 to Proton Experimental, but when I try to change them again in Proton Experimental, they are reverted back to the state they were when I last changed them in Proton 5-13.6). I also found some similar problems on Windows:

| PSA: Insurgentes are good against Musketeers Posted: 03 Dec 2021 09:21 PM PST It's pretty weird to have a fast melee infantry that can cost-efficiently go toe-to-toe with muskets but here we are. Insurgentes are so fast and cheap that they'll trade with musks in an equal-cost matchup (usually about twice as many Insurgentes as musks). If the musks kite well or hunker down between buildings, the musks win, and if the Insurgentes get a flank or surround or have favorable terrain, the Insurgentes win, but in an a-move brawl the Insurgentes actually have the upper hand. Really cool unit, feels like what Rajputs were meant to be. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 03 Dec 2021 06:27 PM PST Anyone else love this unit? I've always found healers to be not worth the investment but I'm getting so much value out of this unit. Once you get the tech from the church which allows him to heal several units at once which is only like 100 of each res it becomes very useful, I find it especially useful for units like artillery and I've been using it with the comanche horse archer shipment, I send them off to raid villagers then bring them back and heal to full health any damage they've taken from tc fire. There were a number of guides out there like this and this, which taught you how to do so. I tried doing the same for DE, but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know how to do it? I should point out I'm doing this solely for single player games. It makes no sense + would be cheating if I used this for MP, which I don't intend to play. [link] [comments] | ||
