Treaty games, Asian civ army comp for players with bad micro skill

    Posted: 12 Jan 2022 12:56 AM PST

I kinda figured out how to play China and India, still have problem trying Japan. I am a very bad player mechanically and have very slow reaction, when I played starcraft2 my APM was like 30-40 and usually stayed in Silver league, cuz I couldn't micro well and couldn't react to drops at all.

    For China

Just spam Arquebusier + Changdao, use 2 hotkeys for Flying Crows and Hand mortors, target infantry with Flying Crow and target Horse Gun/Falconet with Hand mortors. If he gets a lot of artillery I will start spamming Iron Flail + Meteor Hammer. Have another 2 hotkeys to macro cows and sheeps. (put 3 vils on cow and 2 vils on sheep, 1 for 4 Villages that make cows and another for 2 Villages making sheeps) Usually forget to use the bald old man and his bald sons.

Hotkeys : 1-3 use for armies, 4-6 use for military production buildings, 7 for vils that build stuff during fight, 8-9 for cow/sheep.

    For India

It's probably the easiest out of 3 to micro. Just spam Gurkha and Sepoy at 50/50 ratio. And keep a bunch of Siege Elephants to deal with his artillery. As long as I don't run out of wood, Siege Elephants trade very well against all artillery for pop cost because of their high HP and mobility, even decent against Culverins. Kinda have to manage the number of Siege Elephants cuz don't wanna have too many or too few of those. Unlike China I actually get to use the heroes to spam puddy cats tigers, those are not very good but additional army that doesn't cost pop is nice to have if you can spam and forget. India has 2 cards that buffs vil construction speed and makes building walls and barracks very easy.

Hotkeys : 1 for heroes, 2 for Siege Elephants, 3 for infantry mass, rest are for military production builings and vils, usually don't even need all 9 keys.

    For Japan

Now comes the hard part for me. This is the civ that you have to manage way more stuff than China/India tbh. Doesn't have a skirm that doesn't cost wood, so I use Ashi + Flaming Arrow + 2-3 morutaru. And I feel this army is not very cost effective, they are slow to train as well. On top of that having to keep the big bois buffing my army all the time while keeping them alive is kinda too much for me to handle. Flaming Arrows are kinda ass, I feel like they just get sniped by artillery way too easily, but I can't find better answer for anti-artillery, anybody got any advices?

    Should I return?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 08:26 AM PST

Sorry to say that I left AoE3 for AoE4 last year but massive balance issues and bugs are just making the game boring to play. It's not looking like they are going to be making balance changes any time soon so I'm thinking of returning to AoE3.

What is the state of the game? What have i missed? Good balance? What is Mexico like? Does it take ages to get into a game at non peak times? Would be good to hear some news from the last 3-4 months

    5 Tips for Rushing!

Why we need another African civilization (that is NOT Morocco).

    Posted: 10 Jan 2022 01:50 PM PST

So we already have Hausa and Ethiopia. Many people want another African civ because we seem to have at least 3 for all the other regions. Morocco seems to be a popular choice because of the existence of units in the historical battles part or whatever (idk I haven't done those).

Now Hausa and Ethiopia are both worthy additions to the game. However, even though they are both Sub Saharan African civs, their cultures are both significantly influenced by the Middle East. For example, they both have Middle Eastern religions as their dominant religion.

What we are lacking is a Sub Saharan African civ with little to no influence from ''outsiders''. We are also lacking a civ (and maps and minor civs) from the Southern half of the continent. (Hausa represents West Africa. Ethiopia represents East Africa.)

Something like the Kongo or the Zulus would fit these descriptions well. They would be good representatives for Sub Saharan Africa that are less influenced by other continents.

I would accept either but, I think it would be great if we got both. (Africa DLC part 2?)

I have nothing against Morocco but, I would prefer if we got civs like Kongo or Zulus first. I wouldn't mind if they added Morocco later. Much of North Africa is technically already represented in this game by the Ottomans, considering they ruled most of it in this time period.

I know Zulus would work perfectly with the cattle market mechanic. I've read cattle were basically a currency to the Zulus.

    What do you guys think?

Non-European and Non-Federal RG unit ideas?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2022 12:26 AM PST

What it says on the tin. I'm sure many of the African, Asian, and American Native units don't need the extra boost from being made royal guards, but it's fun IMO to speculate on what those would look like.

What would these booster guard units even be called in the tech tree screen, since they're not necessarily royal?

As an addendum, feel free to suggest fake revisions to the existing state existing Royal/National Guard units. Also feel free to suggest guards for new civs people often ask for.

Try to keep it to 2 RG units per civ, but if you want three like the Spanish, please tell me why you want a third unit to get that upgrade. Preferably one (or two) infantry and one cavalry, but obviously the Lakota might be better off with two cav, and the Aztec/Inca can only do two infantry.

No Grenadiers lmaooooo, unless you wanna pair it with some busted ass shipments designed to make them a deck's military focus.

If I've put down a stupid fuckin idea, please tell me and suggest a superior one with a nicer name or base unit.

FEDERAL CIVS: National Guard, Imperial Guard

ASIAN CIVS: Most Honored, Most Exalted

AFRICAN CIVS: Palace Guard, Civic Guard

NATIVE CIVS: Champion Warband, Legendary Warband

UNIT IDEAS FOR EXISTING CIVS: -United States now train Carbine Cavalry (Rough Riders) in addition to State Militia (Volunteers) -Japanese: Ashigaru Musketeers (Kiheitai), Naginata Riders (Shinsengumi) -Germans: rename Czapka Uhlans to Totenkopf Uhlans. -Chinese: Chu Ko Nu (Zhuge Nu), Steppe Riders (Green Banner Riders) -Indians: Sepoy (Presidentials), Sowar (Scinde Horse) -Ottomans can get RG on Horse Archers (Timariots) since they suck shit against cav to an extent. Also LMAO @ RG grenadiers -Russians also might get more use out of Musketeers (Ryadovoy) instead of Pavlovs.

I cannot come up with anything for TWC and AR civs, though.
