    Happy New Year

Just before the release of Mexico the Aztecs got customizations for the home city, this is the celebration of the New Fire ceremony.

    Happy New Year everyone

Thoughts on "Where is Mexico right now"

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 02:42 PM PST

I am well aware that the nerfs to the FI for Mexico were absolutely justified, yet I do have a feeling that Mexico performs quite weakly now. The Soldado is a walking powerhouse until he meets skirms (espc. dutch), the Chinaco is fun but feels underwheelming for it's cost compared to other cav.

The revolution mechanic is super cool but kind of locks mexico in a weird spot where its main shipping card set is fairly underwhelming until Age IV (e.g. almost all of the Salteador cards are meh) and the revolution cards are so speficic that in most cases they fall flat compared to other civs .

For example: Unlocking Central America via revolution is quite a ressource investment, the shipments are nice but you need to consider that you have to invest at least 320 of each ressource to even get there AND wait until it's researched whilst your opp. already builds or SHIPS! units, builds and ships villagers etc. (usually way more also than what mex. has).

You could also go to age 3 but by then Mexico is already rushed to death. Building haciendas is also impossible now.

It's kind of hard to see where they stand right now but OP ? I really think not, maybe at best mediocre.

Japan has better ressource trickle at better value (map oversight, hunt hoarding, switchable res. trickle, higher trickle than mex ever had tbh. [what's up with that, is everyone playing jap these days? why is THAT fine? :D] Dutch have one of the strongest if not the strongest unit comp and eco in the game, Brit have a close to unbeatable boom with extremely strong longbows. India has amazing unit var and great map control via early pressure and the forward fortress. Russia has great rushes (sure when you are prep you can easily hold those of) and an amazing switcheridoo card for strelets to muskets.

Maybe the bottom line is ( because I see that alot on the forums also). New civs need to get in line, imho the devs are doing a great job in that regard but Mexico is our smallest balance issue...

Outlaw upgrades now available to Native civs, does that make Lakota Outlaws competitive?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 08:33 PM PST

I don't know which patch they made this change but when they first enabled Outlaws at the Native Embassy for Native civs they could only recruit base 2nd-Age versions of the Outlaw units without being able to upgrade them like everyone else (Wild West/Folk Heroes etc.). This was especially problematic because Native civs can only recruit Outlaw units beginning in the 3rd-Age. However, recently the Wild West upgrade was added to their Native Embassies and the Native civ that gets the best benefit iirc is the Lakota thanks to their U.S. Outlaw version with the Charge attacks being available from their shipments (and the natural synergy of having 200 pop available from the start). Anyway, has anyone had success or failure trying out a Lakota Outlaw FF? I'm cooking up some strats in my mind but I was wondering if anyone else has got there first.

    Some QOL changes

    Posted: 01 Jan 2022 01:33 AM PST

Livestock pen - Add functions to auto spawn livestock if there is enough resource.

Villager - If becomes idle, will start doing the job it previously was doing if available, especially for gathering herdables and huntables, because they become idle quiet often.

Wagons - If you shift queue them, each Wagon will move to its destination separately instead of all of them going for the same direction.

Production Buildings - When multiple buildings were selected, unit production will prioritize the one that can start production immediately. Right now it's bugged as when you select 2 docks, sometimes one will queue everything and the other producing nothing.
