All y’all coming up with dumb elephant ideas must have inspired the devs

Now we are getting more elephant archers, battering ram elephants, elephant ships, elephant monks, elephant villagers, and elephant elephants. Good job.

URUMI – A Bizarre Ancient Weapon from India

    Posted: 08 Apr 2022 04:38 PM PDT

Devs shared the upper image on the official forums(teaser). Lower image is Hun Stable. Speculation: Gurjaras gain camel scout that tech into camel line. Gain the Shirvamsha (another UU) in the stable from castle age. (less likely) POSSIBILIY lose access to the scout line? Totalling 7 vertical lines.

    Speculation on the "flail" elephant

    Posted: 09 Apr 2022 01:43 AM PDT

Almost all the images of the red carpet elephant in combat have it specifically fighting buildings, which for me reinforces the idea it is more likely an anti building unit like the flail ele from aoe3.

It also seems to have heavier gear on its tusks than the EBE. And no rider, meaning it's less likely to be an upgrade of the BE line, since this goes against all other upgrade logic

So we need to speculate how this ele can be different to the BE line, some of my guesses:

Lower base DPS with a higher attack bonus v buildings

Higher PA and POSSIBLY conversion resistance

So it functions as a more agile ram that is more resilient to melee attacks like Vils or Knights and can defend itself to a small extent, but less resilient to arrow fire and easier to convert. Hard counter would be spears and camels, and monks to a lesser extent.

That being said I really hope this isn't campaign specific, but might be (due to the civ bonus leaks that seem to have been verified as at least early stage ideas)

    Announcement Banner

    Official Announcement

We are thrilled to announce The Resurgence, an event that will challenge even the best players, hosted by JorDan_AoE. With a large, varied map pool and a unique approach to drafting civilisations, The Resurgence seeks to create an event where everything is possible, but nothing is certain. The event will span from the 30th of April and end with the grand final on the 22nd of May.

With a single-elimination qualification stage with room for up to 256 players, there should be plenty of room for everyone to swing their swords and shoot their bows - giving them a chance to qualify for the prestigious main event. The sixteen best performing players from the qualification stage will move on to the main event and will battle it out in the GSL system group stage before reaching the quarterfinals, semifinals and ultimately, the grand final.

Ghiyath and Mu'izz al Din Muhammad. These two were notable for helping make the Ghurid dynasty a force to be recokened with and expanding their reach in Central Asia and Northern India. It'll likely be like Algridis abd Ketsuks in the Lithuanian campaign.

Why do pro players not use units like Elephant Archers or Hussite Wagons in small numbers as a combined arms thing?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2022 02:09 AM PDT

It feels like you're not supposed to mass up large numbers of Hussite Wagons, Elephant Archers, or War Wagons due to their drawbacks and high costs. The devs seem to intend for those units to be made sparsely and combined with other units like Hand Cannoneers, but they aren't typically used that way in any replays I've seen.

Why is that? Is it too hard for them to put the army together? Is it a case of too much spending on upgrades? Why make a mass of Hussite Wagons when making 4-5 plus some Hand Cannoneers could be more effective?
