You can tell DE was made by people who knew AoE2 really, really well.

AOE 2 DE WTF Moments EP 1

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 04:14 AM PST

If MS is serious about the success of AoE2 DE and growing the playerbase...

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 01:29 AM PST

Pay popular streamers to stream this game on release. Give those streamers a couple of game keys to give to their communities. Let's make AoE see some spotlight again. And I'm not taking about AoE streamers. I'm talking about streammers with big fanbases especially those who stream competitive games.

Nowadays that's a common practice in the business of video game making. Nearly every big company does that with every new competitive game. Please Microsoft join the rest of the word in 2019.

We already missed the opportunity of doing that with the beta. Look at Blizzard and the remake of Warcraft3 (another popular and old RTS). Blizzard have been tossing around beta invites to streamers left and right. Depending on the already existing small Nd old player base isn't enough if you want an old game to sustain and regrow again. We need new blood.

    Thanks.

Best part about new civs is new memes

Tatar trebs 2-shot enemy trebs which are downhill (normally it takes 3 shots). They're also better vs downhill buildings (1 less shot vs most buildings).

I wish the Hunting Wolf was an actually recruitable unit.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 11:53 PM PST

The Steppe Hordes definitely used them.

And it would be cool to have a unit that only costs food but has a very long recruit time. To showcase the fact you have to train them. And since Wolves have the bonus vs Villagers damage, they would make a very scary raiding unit.

Imagine an early feudal Mongol Raid with Scouts and Hunting Wolves. You use the Scouts to distract any potential military unit while the Wolves are used to hunt down villagers with their bonus damage.

    DE melee combat is broken

Will Mongols get steppe lancer? (I guess no?)

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 12:48 AM PST

Hoping they do. Kipcheks seem like a stronger mangudai which is already bad.

Based on what we know as of now......

Which returning Civs has gotten the best and worst improvements, and are better than in HD.

Mine are Koreans for best and Khmer for worst.

Koreans new 15% wood discount for all wood based units aside from siege creates some new ideas, in archers, trash, and navy and is a better version of the Portuguese gold discount.

Khmer git it worse since they lost shipwright(why?) and battle elephants got nerfed

    What about you guys?

How long will the 25% off deal last for?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 01:52 AM PST

I own AOE 2 already and I see there is a 25% off complete your bundle special. How long will this deal last for? Will I still get the 25% off after release day? Will it stack with additional discounts like dark souls remaster does?

    Thanks

    Multiplayer in DE beta

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 03:54 AM PST

My friend received a beta key for Microsoft store, I received one for Steam. I can see him online, he can't see me. When I invite him to join a multiplayer lobby it says "Unknown error". Anyone else had this and know a fix?

    How do Mongols beat Aztecs?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 01:06 AM PST

The eagle+skirm+Pike comp is too much. Switching from mangudai+siege to champions is expensive and risky. Not only is beating the Aztecs eco and numbers hard, they also add jaguars to counter champions

    Quick question about DE

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 11:12 PM PST

At the moment I can't figure out how to select individual units or remove units from a control group by clicking their portrait at the bottom of the screen, am I missing a setting option or is that just not possible?

    Good Job DE Devs

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 01:37 PM PST

This game felt pretty broken just 2 weeks ago and they finally got it all coming together just in time.

2 weeks ago I couldnt pass the ranked benchmark test on medium.

Am now passing on high. Have seen a lot of other people saying similiar things in the Beta forums

It seems that most of the big streamers and content creators are ready to switch over. I really think were going to recombine the playerbases into one with the definitive edition fellas.
