Malay uptime is actually 66% faster, always has been

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 04:00 AM PST

DE states in the Malay description that they go up 66% faster and this got me and many others confused. Did Malay receive a nerf ?

Well I checked the data and actually no, it's an accurate description of their bonus, it's just that we have been lied to for the past two years.

In March 2017 the patch notes for Patch 5.3 said the bonus was nerfed from 100% to 80%, but you actually only save 52s on your way to Feudal, while it would be 58s with 80% faster.

So here you go, we've been lied to for 2 years and I don't know if anyone realized. At least I didn't.

    New extended civ themes?

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 02:23 AM PST

I have noticed in the videos of AOE2 DE I have watched that whenever you start playing, the first song you get to hear is different for every civ, and I read somewhere that they are actually extended editions of the previous civ themes.

Is there anywhere where I can hear them?

It’s been 4 months since I started this game.

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 05:35 PM PST

So my friend convinced me and the rest of my friend group to get AOE2 for the summer steam sale since it was ridiculously cheap, like 2 dollars. And man was it the most worth 2 dollars in my life.

Since then I currently have almost 200 hours in. I slowly started getting used to the controls as this was my first RTS game. Watched Spirit of the Law and T90 videos while eating breakfast. Played tons of games with friends as well as AI. I haven't had this much fun gaming in a long while.

Anyway I thought I'd make this to show how much I appreciate this community. Everyone here seems to be super nice compared to other games (I also play league), and it's a small close knit group where everyone knows each other. Online games are super chill and casual. And I haven't ran into trolls or salty players yet.

Thought now would be a good time since today is the day I finally beat hardest AI on the conquerors edition. Now I can go into DE loud and proud. Keep wololol-ing everyone.

Advanced Genie Editor Question Building limit

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 01:43 AM PST

I've created a Feitoria like building that every civ can build but can only build one of it. So far I made it work by making the building cost 1 of unused resources that each civ get 1 of that gets refunded when the building gets destroyed so they can rebuild it.

Is it possible to make it so it has a limit like a Dark/Feudal age Town center where after you build it dissapears from the build menu?

Persians should have new Central Asian architectural set

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 11:51 AM PST

The Persians in game are based mostly on the Sassanid empire, which was not Muslim or Arabic. Although the architectural central Asian style is mostly associated with Turkish tribes nowadays, it originated in medieval Iran from where it spread further into central Asia. It would also help split up the somewhat omnipresent Arabic style, which is trivializing the history of middle east a bit. With this change, 3 cultures would use Central Asian, and 3 Arabic, making it a nice tie between the two. Seeing Arabic style represent anything from Persia to Turks to Rome in base game is silly.

    Examples of Persian architecture:

    Imam Mosque

    Oljeitu Mausoleum

Some shrine with a really long name

Possible new gold farming strategy for multiplayer games

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 10:34 AM PST

Tatar player sets ally stance to neutral to an elephant-producing ally, or creates a verbal agreement with them while remaining enemies in the diplomacy settings. The ally creates a few elephants and multiple monks. The Tatar player creates Keshiks and sends them to attack the elephants. As long as the Keshiks do less damage than the monk healing rate, the monks automatically heal while the Keshiks continue their attack. This means free gold for the Tatar player.

It doesn't have to use elephants but they have high hitpoints so it's harder to mess up.

We would have to see how this compares with regular trade, there's a good chance regular trade brings in more gold, but it would be neat to see.

    AoE 2 Fantasy Draft

    Posted: 12 Nov 2019 12:02 AM PST

    AoE 2 Fantasy Draft

My friends and I did a fantasy AoE draft.

    The format:

10 different maps for each week.

We drafted 30 of the 31 civs.

Week 1 we will play on Arabia. We have to pick one of our available 10 civs for the AI to play a 1 v 1 vs each opponent (so three matches each week). Each game win you get a point (so you can get 2, 1, or 0 points each week) After you use a civ you cannot use them for the remainder of the season. Each week has a different map.

Who do you think has the best civs?

Are there any civs that you would place for a particular map?

Which are the good civs in a trash war with relics?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2019 02:48 PM PST

When I searched for the best civ in trash war, I normally got the answer of something like Malay, Spanish or Byzantine because of their superior trash units. However, sometimes people also said civs like Celts are pretty good at trash wars because they got nice siege.

I am just curious that which civs really stand out in a trash war with limited gold provided by relics. Can Celts win the Malay 2HS spam?
