(Final survey for my PhD degree) The opportunities, threats, and strategies of esports sponsorships (Only for people who watch/participate in esports) [Ends on 30 November 2019]

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:50 AM PST

Hello everyone, I'm doing my PhD in marketing and I'm focusing on esports sponsorships. From May 2019 until now I have done 4 surveys. This is the last one. ATTENTION: Don't fill out this survey if you filled out the 2nd one, they are the same and have the same title (I'm reposting the 2nd survey because this is the most important one and I need a very large sample).

All surveys are anonymous and done on Google Forms. The data from the surveys will only be used for my PhD thesis and to develop 6 articles that will be published in scientific journals. The participation of all esports fans is extremely important and greatly appreciated (survey is only for people who watch/participate in esports).

This survey takes about 8 minutes to complete and is related to the opportunities, threats, and strategies of sponsoring esports. Here is the survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUacl74DMc_BofKbD90NwRmohYAAgBlXmjjG_-P3QBmP6hCw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Thank you so much in advance.

I understand that this subreddit is not strictly related to esports but, since it has a gamer user-base, there may be some who watch/participate in esports. I'm also posting the survey on esports-related subreddits but, from a researcher standpoint, only posting there would mean that I'd only be inquiring the most enthusiastic esports fans, which would introduce a bias. In this sense, it is also important to place the survey on general gaming subreddits where people who simply like esports (but are not enthusiastic about them) may also exist and participate.

If you are interested in easily following the results of this research, you can follow me here on Reddit or on Twitter: @EsportsAnalyses. Results are expected to be posted in this subreddit and on Twitter by the end of 2020.

This survey has been approved by the kind moderators.

    New DE worth buying?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:40 AM PST

How is the multiplayer scene gonna be like? One thing holding me from buying it is the super high brightness/textures. Those can be turned down right? Also I have HD so do get the 15% discount

Which gaming laptop from amazon for DE?

For AoE2 DE, Will game resolution be tied to screen resolution like AoE2 HD?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:12 AM PST

This is a really annoying feature of AoE2 HD. I have a 15 inch laptop with a 2880 x 1800 screen resolution, so I have to change the screen resolution through the settings every time I load the AoE 2 HD for it to be scaled to my screen size. Hope this isn't a problem for DE. Would love to find out, if anybody knows. Thanks

Meme strat or master piece? Lithuanians + Khmer + Aztecs. Khmer go 80% faster to Castle Age, make monastery, make monks 20% faster, bring the relics to the Lithuanians, who now makes +5 cavarly and +25% gold income from relics

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:41 AM PST

Edit: I fucked up and meant Malay. Khmer might work too

    Ranked Matchmaking

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:34 AM PST

Can anyone report how it works? Does it just put you in a queue and wait for someone in a similar elo? does it send you to a lobby so you can choose your civ or auto start? Is there a map pool? A screenshot of how it looks would be nice

    Thanks

EDIT: speaking about DE of course

    Cuman douche incoming?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 06:06 AM PST

Who else is excited/anxious about this? Excited if you like this strategy but anxious is you don't, like me... The civ bonus means you can build a new TC in feudal.... This could lead to high level douching... On top of that, you give a Siege workshop and a Battering Ram? Am I the only one concerned? Am I missing something here?

Would this marvelous, OP looking units be available to other non-DE civs? I mean it makes sense if they were available for Turks, Mongols, Indians and Chinese.

    Good YouTubers

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 04:53 PM PST

I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell but whatever. Can someone recommend any good YouTubers that actually play the game instead of being expectators? I'm slowly learning and I want to watch pros with their techniques.

So, who do you suggest? Thank you!

How do you think the DE civs will affect the meta and overall rank of civs?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 08:04 PM PST

I just watched T90's cast of the Cumins vs Bulgarians in DE.

My first thought was that their technologies will instantly make the Teutons more important - as the Teutonic Knight is basically an anti-krepost unit and will also counter the extra TC from the Cumins pretty well if you can get it into the opponent base.

What do you think about this and other civs?

How good is the new Persian UT?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 12:02 PM PST

The new UT replaces Boiling Oil and removes the gold cost of archers but increases the wood cost (+25 wood). So Persian Crossbows will cost 50 wood in Castle Age. Is it a strong UT although Persians are missing Arbalest and Bracer? Better or worse than Malay trash 2HS?

I just don’t get how they decided to balance civs for AoE De

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 07:10 PM PST

    https://aoestats.io

I mean there are 4 civs which at least deserve radical changes and those are :

    Khmer Vietnamese Saracens Portuguese

Some of them didn't receive any buff or just minor changes.

They should try to get each civ a 50% win rate. Needing to nerf the strong and buffing the weak ones.

I would like to see more diversity in tournaments. They have to change things.
