    Towers viable late game?

    Hi all,

    I see all these cool upgrades like keep, arrowslits, heated shot and more, but I never see anyone building towers after feudal age. It seems they are pretty useless since you can build castles from castle age onward.

    Does anyone have an example of how to use them in the late game (like a Youtube video)? When and why would you prefer building towers over castles?

    Do you think they need a boost? Why should I build a university, upgrade to Guard Tower, upgrade to keep and research arrowslits for something that is waaaaay less good than a castle?

    I think they need to boost the Keep and leave watch/guard tower as is.

    Replay on Phone?

    Melee units ignoring commands?

    I've been playing 1v1s recently where I've been making Scout Cavalry to counter monks. Unfortunately whenever I right click on a monk they've been wandering off and attacking something else, completely ignoring my commands 80% of the time. This has been the same with all my cavalry and infantry, is this common?

    I just wanted to share my thoughts on the feature/mechanic with units moving to the side when others try to get through.

    I think right now, if I am correct about this, it's not that good. What I mean by that, is I think it is causing issues with unit pathing. I have seen too many times where villagers walk into each other and get stuck on each other, and also where faster units walk into the back of slower units that is moving the same way, and the faster unit give up and just stops.

    What I think happens is that they expect the unit they walk into to move aside, but they are also in movement, so they won't do this, and this causes issues where units gets "stuck" in other units and just stops. This is what causes new military units to stop on the way to gather point, and you just see them spread to the side of the path everyone else is taking.

    I am honestly getting frustrated and sad that this is still happening after such a long time. I hope it gets fixed soon. FE could just disable this feature for the time being. I would rather have units having to walk past groups of other without them moving, rather than having half my army stopping halfway to where I want them, or villagers getting stuck on each other for longer time and eventually go idle for no other reason.

    When ever I load a new game I must change AI to AI (HD version) everytime. Anyway to make AI (HD version) default. If im going about this wrong way sorry first reddit post. Thank you

    We need elo displayed so bad

    playing de since 1 week now, some games in 1v1 ladder were fine, but tg is plain awful.

    in unranked people dont seem to know what 1300+ elo means and just join and get rekt by the better players (no fun for both sides), and in ranked you can never be sure you flank doesnt die to men ar arms or your pocket goes full stone wall at 10 minutes...

    and the better players cant even take responsibility and tell the weaker ones what to do, BECAUSE THEY DONT KNOW theyre weak. how are players supposed to protect their team mates if they dont know about their skill?

    matchmaking should help to set up balanced competitive games, but atm i feel it does the opposite

    Islands Maps

    This isnt abt civ balances, more about map balance.

    Islands (and Team Islands) are often drawish and lead to stalled fights with no one capable of making military. The wood doesnt last very long and the relics can be unfair (3:2). It can get agonising to watch much less play. Viper won one game recently where he literally had 0 villagers.

    Should the map be changed, like more wood for both players, or more relics for each side (3:3), or extra neutral islands with stuff to fight for, like gaia archery ranges?
