Villagers no longer keep resources after re-tasking

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 05:39 AM PST

I miss-clicked the other day and tasked a villager who had food into wood but I quickly realized and re-tasked him to food again and I saw that he no longer had food. I wanted to make sure so I tested it a few times and it happened in all of them, the vil with a resource lost it right after tasking him to a new resource.

This was one of the changes for DE that was really good and helpful, so I'm wondering if they made the decision to change it back to how it was or if it's a new bug that popped up.

    Horrible unit moving problems

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:47 PM PST

I just downloaded AoE2 Definitive today from Gamepass to test it out and at first, everything seemed fine when I tried it earlier today, but now I literally can't move any unit a few feet without them stopping on their own like I'm pressing hold command.

Even if peasants are set to gather something, for example, they freeze while walking back to camp and resume movement like broken robots, it looks horrible and happens non stop with every unit. Does anyone know why?

How to stop mouse cursor from going to my second monitor?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2020 01:08 AM PST

Just installed the AOE2 DE and I'm running a dual monitor setup. Whenever I'm in-game my mouse cursor always goes off to my second monitor when I drag it too far from my main monitor. Is there anyway to fix this?

An awesome way to play the "Scourge Of God" scenario

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 03:21 PM PST

    https://i.ibb.co/N6qwYFv/Screen-Shot-2020-02-01-at-4-51-30-PM.png

I've only finished the scenario once this way, but it was my favorite way to play it thus far, since I didn't have to worry about the Persians sneaking up on me with a bunch of knights.

    1. Flee the boar hunt immediately, and go across the Western river. Build two Dark Age buildings and a Town Center by the forage bushes, then have your villagers collect 100 food so you can get to the Feudal Age quickly.
    2. Here's where you need a bit of good luck. You have to find a way to kill Bleda's scout. He frequently goes down to the Roman fort, and it's a good idea to go down there anyway, since you can destroy it with just Attila and your five Tarkans (stay away from the castle).
    3. While down in the Roman fort, free the Hun villagers and the Scythian scout. You can still find 10 horses for the Scythians. There are three to the northwest of the Roman fort, and seven in the area where you've built your base (four to the east, three to the west).
    4. After you get to the Feudal Age, wall off the two entry points to your base, and build some towers to protect the Eastern entry point (the one with the bridge). At some point, Bleda will send his Tarkans on the offensive against you. Killing the scout causes the AI to substitute Bleda himself for the scout. If you have not killed the scout, Bleda will come with the rest of his Tarkans, and if you kill Bleda, you'll gain his base, defeating the entire purpose of playing the scenario this way. Have villagers repair walls/build new walls as Bleda's Tarkans try to break through your defenses.
    5. I like to double cross the Scythians. After they ally with you, just build 4-5 castles in their base, and station some rams near their castle. When you change your diplomatic stance with them to enemy, you'll get some dialogue about how Attila's honor means nothing.
    6. Once the Romans and Scythians are defeated, the Persians will be defeated as well, although their towers will still fire on you. Now, it's just a matter of finding and killing Bleda. In my case, he waltzed right into his base as I was sacking it.

Playing the scenario this way resulted in zero casualties for me.

FIGHT ME: The Original Honfoglalás is the best OC Campaign Scenario of all time.

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 07:42 PM PST

I understand it was a very difficult campaign, but having you play through hundreds of years of history and win than lose so many times created an emotional effect that when you finally settled in Hungary there was a sense of catharsis.

Additionally, the Gameplay was great, and the Bulgars were an exceptionally difficult enemy. And using the Age up mechanic as we traveled through new centuries was brilliant. Honestly, in my mind, it's no contest that this is the single best campaign.

I think the only reason it was changed was due to its difficulty.

Who here feels the Britons are vastly overrated?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:25 PM PST

I mean they have a solid early economy and range is nice, but it feels like they've been overhyped and seem much weaker under closer scrutiny.

Who else agrees with that sentiment?

    Where do we rank Slavs?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 04:09 PM PST

I feel like they're an incredible civ. Strong early game with cheap maa and farming eco bonus, stronger late game, cheap siege... the scorp push is so strong! Maybe I don't play at a high enough level yet.
