    Green female villager Cosplay

    female vil

    Hey!

    I love playing AoE2, although I am a noob (~800 elo) 11

I've decided to make a cosplay of green female villager, because I always pick green. I've seen another girl post her cosplay on here before. She did a way better job imo, but I tried really hard. This was my first sewing project ever and I didn't have a pattern, so don't be too harsh on me.

Feel free to check out my cosplay stream on Twitch (live rn, if you find the post later you might be able to check out the vod):

    Thank you for the attention!

AoE2 DE Patch reverter (Work in progress)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:53 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

For the past couple of days i have worked on a tool that can patch AoE2 DE to any officially release version. The idea was sparked by the huge problems before the last hotfix and the inability to view old replays after any update and since many small tournaments are currently happening which were affected by those problems. Some players with more important friends were able to use a private branch that could be opted in via Code in steam but this is not available to everyone. So here the tool comes in.

All files are original files and not hosted by me but downloaded from steam directly. This also means you will need a steam account that owns the game to be able to download the files. (The account data is not being stored!)

There will probably be bugs, so please don't expect this to work flawlessly right from the start! For now I have only tested this tool on 2 computers and not extensively. Both computers were running Windows 10

I would appreciate if some of you would try this out, give your feedback, questions and report any issues or feature requests you might have. Check the readme file on GitHub for more information and planned features / issues. If questions come up more frequently i will add an FAQ.

You will need to install .NET Core if you don't have that installed already (Most of you probably won't have that by default)

At last, here is the link to the Repository: AoE2 DE Patch reverter

    Cheers :)

Atheism makes Treason free for Huns in Regicide games.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug, but researching Atheism playing as Huns in a Regicide game allows you to use Treason for free. This let's you track the location of all the Kings as much as you want, and it won't cost you anything.

Where are you playing above your Elo and where below?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 03:06 AM PDT

As a newly minted mid elo maniac at 1100 elo I'm reviewing some of my games to learn from my mistakes. I noticed that I'm horrible at defending, if I don't wall in time. For whatever reason 3 scouts completely wreck my eco and make me look like 900 at best. On the other hand I think that I'm quite good in multitasking and macro the late game well.

I was wondering if other players have their strengths that make them punch way above their weightclass.

Laming is linked to toxic in-game behaviours: a data-backed post

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 08:00 PM PDT

Hi: Some days ago, I created a post in this subreddit to give my point on view on the topic of laming. In it, I defended that laming (mainly defined as stealing cattle and boar) is based on bug exploiting since it creates an strategy on the basis of buggy map generation. I also said I believed laming would probably appear with other toxic behaviours as flaming or the use of hacks. While most commenters contributed to the debate, the topic received an unusually harsh response for the usually high standard of the subreddit: I was called a scrub, a troll, a "butthurt" and ridiculous, among other things. Well, in the last days I have made public a survey in some highly populated (mainly European) AOE2 discords and gathered some data. Since I don't want to make the post too long, I will offer both the data and the details of the survey to those who PM me.

I'm still analyzing it, but I decided to post some quick and dirty histograms about some worrying relationships I found (explanation at the end of the post) As you can clearly see players who engage in laming tactics are more prone to have affirmative actions to these questions which seems to imply they are in general more open to toxic behaviour than non laming players. Once the data has been analyzed, I may increase the range and scale of the surveys (right now, N=97) and control for game experience and other factors. But I think the current data is interesting by itself and kind of explains the response to the previous post.

I am looking forward to hearing your opinion around the topic.

EXPLANATION: Surveyers were asked 2 questions about laming practices "How often do you try to steal or kill cattle from rival/s?" and "How often do you try to steal boar from rival/s?" and given 4 options numbered from 1 to 4: "Never", "Rarely", "Often", "Always or almost always". They later were classified as "Non lamers" (the sum of both categories is less than 4) and "Lamers" (the complement) and were asked some questions.

I am just giving here the answer to two of them, the first one is "Would you use a bug if that gave you advantage" and the possible answers numbered from 1 to 4 are "I would not use a bug to gain advantage", "I would use the bug only if I though my rival/s were using it", "I would consider using the bug in certain cases", "I would use the bug frequently in my games". The second one is "Do you think some harsh talk can make your partner more motivated" and the answers were "No, I think harsh talk cannot make them more motivated", "Yes, in exceptional cases harsh talk can increase the concentration or motivation of team mates", "Yes, harsh talk can consistently increase motivation of team mates (for example, when the game is being lost)", "Yes, harsh talk always increases the motivation of team mates", again numbered from 1 to 4 and is used as a proxy of approval to flaming.

    How to get started?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 08:14 AM PDT

    Hi everyone

First time poster in this sub.

Basically, I'm a new player. I've been playing a similar game called 0AD, but after watching the WOLOLO Red Bull cup in May and obsessively watching T90 since, I'm trying to figure out the best way to start getting better at the game.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Progressing past 1300

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 11:20 PM PDT

    Hi all,

Played on Voobly and was 1700. Been playing on DE and stuck at 1300-1400. I have come to the conclusion that in general people are better because of the amount of info out there and a lot of automation of processes now but I'm seriously stuck on how to improve. The weird part is I've beaten 1600's in DE but fighting 1300's is a chore.

Anyone out there with some advice to progress? Right now I'm working on familiarizing myself with unit types and knowing pierce armor and all that. I've brushed up on build orders and am familiar with how to drush, scout rush, archer rush, fc, standard 22 pop up, 20 pop up, etc.

I mostly play Arabia random 1v1.

    AoEII DE Tamriel Mod?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 07:12 AM PDT

    Hello everyone.

Do we have any Elder Scrolls fans here? I was wondering if we could somehow work on a mod overhaul that adds the Elder Scroll Universe into AoEII DE?

A similar idea was posted two years ago here: https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe2/comments/76tpva/age_of_tamriel_could_be_a_thing_is_anyone/

but I was thinking if we could start it again, this time in DE, with all of the new Civs added. For this idea to be realized, we're definitely going to need experienced modders (of which sadly, I'm not one of them). I've got the general ideas for civs and maps, and I'll write it in the comments below. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this, and suggestions. If you know any modders, or you'd like to give it a go, write to me or comment.

How to counter Frank FC into knight siege push

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 12:57 AM PDT

I really struggle with this. If I go pikes then eventually I lose because of constant 2 stable production.

Also food+wood units early on are massive self damage to economy and I lose later anyway.

    What are your tips?

    Japanese Skirmishers vs Lithuanian skirmishers?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2020 07:39 PM PDT

I just played a game with 3 friends as Japanese who I've started playing very frequently. Their halbs shred through enemy halbs and cavalry but take heavy casualties vs skirmishers and halbs combined. Is it worth assisting them with skirms even if my skirms will fight Lithuanian trash?

Trouble using drag selection if there are buildings in the rectangle

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 03:51 AM PDT

Hey guys, I just bought the DE but i'm having trouble with the unit selection.

The thing is when I try to select, let's say, 6 villagers near a bulding, I click n' drag the villagers and a third of the building or so, it doesn't select anything so sometimes I have to drag a couple times before I got it right.

I don't remember having this kind of problems before.
